I'll undercut him by a grand, I'm good like that.  Just £7000 for some paint thrown at a canvas with talent and skill.

DRLs and bright headlights are two different things. If I turn my headlights on, my DRLs drop to 5W bulbs and become sidelights. Plus, the safety aspect is not other drivers really.... It's people stepping out into the road, or kids, or cyclists. Especially when the big trend is for every other car to be painted in a shade similar to wet tarmac, I'm going to stand by my opinion that they're a good thing. Seriously can't understand why you'd make your car less visible on purpose.

And I promise this is not a dig at anyone, I agree that headlights are getting brighter, but there are vision issues that manifest themselves as heightened sensitivity to spots of light. If it's so bad you feel you can't drive at night, Specsavers do a pretty comprehensive vision test including retinal scans for free. That's not me saying "OMG you must be blind, get over it" but it could be a more serious problem.

My biggest grump with these modern DRL's is they are so bright the muppets driving them seem to forget to turn their lights on. Not helped by auto lights that don't work and dash lighting always being on. At least the old Saab and Volvo original DRL's were only 10w and there rears were also on unlike a lot of these modern things.

Those 'turning lamps' are a nuisance too, but having driven a new car with them fitted they're useful if you're driving the thing.

My boss is an incredibly shrewd investor. If he is buying this shite, its not because he likes it but because its going to make him even richer.

I dont even know what way up it goes.

Face down, ideally.

It is chaos on the roads today. All I wanted to do was find somewhere to fix my back tyre but I got so annoyed at the sheer level of fuckwittery being displayed out there, I gave up and took the dogs for a walk instead. Lovely blue skies until we got out of the car when the heavens opened and about 50 gallons of water was directed straight at me.

Over and over again!

I have just washed the car as it was looking like it was going to chuck it down again (rain water rinse!) and of course, it is now bright blues skies again with not a fucking cloud in the sky!

I have obviously upset the big cheese upstairs in some way. Also, I have my shopping delivered every Tuesday. Not this week as there is not a supermarket in the torbay area with a delivery slot this side of Easter!

And the rear lamps aren't on with the drls

Agh beaten to it !

Someone on here mentioned that proper UK spec DRLs do turn the rear lights on too - and some cars you could switch between regions. But no, mine are just front along with 99% of cars I see.

Agreed, they're pretty good if you're driving the car. I think mine come on when making sharp turns as well as indicating.

no they dont transit has them and even if the lights are off front will be on and rears wont unless you purposely put sidelights on

them turning lights are a pita - even in the dark with no lights i can see why do i need ones on when i turn corners im not driving a ds ffs

No they don't. DRLs are front only. What a stupid idea.

That's what I thought but it was on here someone challenged that during our bi-weekly "DRLs are shit" conversation.

I should know better than to go to ECP and expect to get the right parts every time.

Still, having been sold the wrong parts means I haven't got to try and re-fit the wood screws which were holding the pollen filter in.

The first cars to have DRL's were Volvo and Saab back in the 70's remember. They were front and rear though. I am sure one of the SVM will be along to tell us about the special front side light bulbs on 740's.

TBH those brighter side lights on the 70's Volvo were about right, not that horrible ultra bright, and bloody crass looking, led flicker which hurts your eyes.

No brighter than dimdip, which was of course the best solution of the lot and should have continued.

Be interesting to see the howls of protest from owners of these led's drls and other lights when the sods start failing out of warranty, we've already discovered that a failed led indicator on the front of a Jag XF will cost you around £1200 for a new complete headlight, sod that, the standard 10/21w bulb was perfectly adequate for visibility.

My Transit has headlights and rear lights on as standard. When you turn the headlights on they get slightly brighter, though obviously not bright enough to see by. It's a good idea, because the non-DRL Transit I had before this one didn't chew through nearly enough bulbs.

I'm pretty sure there are no laws about lighting on vehicles because most models wouldn't get on the road if there were.

Another thing I like with some cars is that you can leave the lights on, take the keys out and they go off. That way if you do drive in dusk they are on, even the W reg Fiat we had does that.

Aye, there are many cars you can't see indicating if the headlights, tail lights or brake lights are on at the same time.

My eyes have become more sensitive; partly after damaging a cornea a few years ago and partly through sheer old age!  Wearing these helps: https://www.decathlon.co.uk/arenberg-cycling-sunglasses-category-1-yellow-id_8118519.html

My wifes family from her mothers side (more than 50 people) meet twice a year.

Today, it was the day and god was it arduous again. Really exhausting. 50 people you don´t have a real connection too that try to be nice to each other.  :?

Jess Ennis Hill only excels at 7 different sports so I can understand why she was back in 3rd.

There is a certain irony that Tyson Fury has the same sort of name as a hardcore gay pornstar.

I have no problem with factory DRLs. The ones I do detest are those pound shop items that owners wedge into any slot in the grille of a car which is far to old too look right with them fitted.

I kid you not, I used to know somebody with a Tigra who had these DRLs inserted into the gap between the headlights and bumper and wedged fast with little bits of folded up paper.
