MOT is up on the XM soon and the ABS light came on today. FUCKER!!!!

It's come on and gone off in the past. Hopefully it will just fix itself.

The Multipla's MOT is up next month too. I JUST CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!!

I've just done a route plan for tomorrow's journey to Devon. 21 speed cameras on a 181 mile journey. Wow, is that going to be a fun drive, nervously looking at the speedo for four hours. Fucking nanny state can fuck off.

An easy way around that is to not register your car to you.  Fill in the trade section with some random name and have the seller send that off - if the car's caught on camera it'll show up on DVLA records as in the trade and they probably won't even bother to try and trace the driver.

I accept no liability for any convictions for fraud or any other offence that may result from the above course of action.

There were hundreds, nay thousands , of drivers who had obviously done that  because they were rocketing down the outside lane with no regard for the speed cameras whilst I pootled along at 69mph with the parrot in his cage behind me going "come on then", trying to get me to go faster.

My XM tends to put the ABS light on when it's damp. Come January and MOT time, the weather forecast will be an important part of my MOT planning.

Isn't that typical? The ABS throws a wobbly when you're most likely to need it. THANKS CAR!

Reminds me of the time a Zafira just didn't bother looking or stopping at a T junction joining a NSL road when I had my Rover 45, pulling out in front of me at about 20 MPH.

Had to slam the brakes on so hard that the radio came out of the slot and the SRS light came on, at the very time I might have actually needed the airbags!

Currently sat in the doctors waiting room. I am their first appointment of the afternoon. Half an hour late already... How the hell is that allowed to happen?!

That's not too bad, my old GP (now retired) often managed to be late for his very first appointment of the day! By the end he could be running 2 hours late but he was a bloody good doctor so worth waiting for and he never rushed his patients even when he was that late.

Does the XM have brake disc dust shields? There's a disintegrating front one on the 940 that occasionally trips the ABS light on as bits of it stick to the sensor.

Above all, it's a Citroen.

Parrots are the best! I have a Diet Coke Parrot, a Conure. May I ask why he was in the car?

We are having a weekend away in Devon so decided that rather than finding someone to parrot sit we would find a hotel that advertises as accepting pets. They were a bit surprised as normal people just take their dogs or tortoises.

Sounds like the basis for some bizarre monty python sketch.

Today I've hopefully fixed the water ingress in the boring and fitted some spangly new headlights so I can see better in the dark. On the way home I put my foot down, a brief surge then a splutter, a small amount of smoke and no further acknowledgement from the turbo. I'm hoping it's a blown boost hose or something trivial and cheap. It won't be getting looked at this weekend though as I'm knackered and off to Scotland for work again tomorrow.

Lawn mower > firewood truck conversion is stalled.

I won 2 more engines for £2.40 on evilbay. Sadly the seller is ignoring all messages, as no doubt he expected 2 condition unknown collect only lawn mower engines to be worth eleventy million pounds. I've tried finding them on google earth, but no luck. .

So I've investigated the original engine, and it has OMGHGF. Bore looks perfect, so a quick decoke n valve grind and I've high hopes of it being a good one.

Was trying the epic pug recovery technique demonstrated here. Sadly didn't work as there are quite a few trampolines n sheds in Rotherhams.

Ebay sellers -

Just because the exhaust cans you are selling have yoshimura and vance and hines on them does'nt mean they are worth anything, even more so when it looks like Eric Pickles has sat on them.

Put them in the bin, because nobody is going to give you £100 for them.

Shops that sell an item (an electric planer in this case, but its just one of many examples), but have zero spares backup or even fecking replacement consumables like blades.

"Well, I suppose we could maybe try to order them, but it will cost a lot - probably be better just buying another one...."

"get fucked."

A few minutes on ebay found replacements from a UK seller. Just need to wait for them to arrive now.

So thought I would see if I can bodge the cat back together on the Frontera. Nope it's officially fucked, at least £50 I don't have for a replacement :-(
