Tried to repair my 9-3 climate control unit.

Because I'm an impatient prick, I tried to do it with a massively underpowered soldering iron, and I've fucked it up. Solder everywhere, which because there's so much solder now won't melt with the weedy iron and when I tried, tracks started lifting. So that's £20 on a new LCD up the spout and I've just had to buy a whole new unit for £35 (which will probably have dead pixels too). Twatting twatsticks. 

 

It's such a mess, I'm not even going to put pictures of it up. It's embarrassing. Ten years I repaired laptops and I can't even put a FPC socket on a board any more. Looks like I just poured molten lead on a 12" dildo and used it to beat a PCB to death.

 

Fella, don't worry about it. I can't solder for shit, tried a couple of times with a proper soldering iron and messed it up whilst trying to solder various dried out contacts on my Rovers. Never been good at it.

 

Oddly enough, I was a wonder at arc welding when I was in my teens, I reckon I could probably still just as well but have less arsedness these days.

From what I can gather, most other complaints are along the lines of "but its got touch screen icons on a non touch-screen computer" and similar stuff......doesn't bother me. I just use its desktop and it seems fine.

 

What really twists my pisser is its updating.

Who decided to put the fucking computer in charge?

 

Remember XP? when you went to shut down in the evening it would be like "oh, hey man, I need to do these updates I quietly downloaded while you were looking at cat pictures, but its cool, man - you go on to bed and I will do this and then turn myself off." - how it should be.

 

Now? "ATTENTION, HUMAN - I will be updating in 15 minutes are there is FUCK ALL you can do to stop me. I don't care that you are halfway through an hour-long youtube video that you left buffering for ages so it would play smoothly, Im restarting anyway. Better make sure all your other shit is saved too."

 

Alternatively, when you switch it on its like "SURPRISE, MOTHERFUCKER, i`m gonna update. Oh, you just need to quickly print out some forms and get to town before everything closes for lunch? well TOUGH TITTY pathetic life form, you are going to have to wait. Installing update 1 of 19 .....1%.........2%.......3%......"

 

 

I wonder if this things machine intelligence realises how perilously close it is to getting flung out the window when it does this?

 

 

Plus the fact everything you want to open HAS to appear in a completely different screen, start up/shut down is a piss about, if you move the cursor too far over some wanky things appear at the side of the screen, everything takes fucking forever to load up and it couldn't be more user unfriendly if it tried.

I'm getting shut of my computer earlier than I normally would to buy something with a better operating system, like two fucking plastic cups and several yards of damp string.

Then I'm literally going to set fire to this bastard thing and Windows 8 can burn in computer hell.

I've got a decent desktop pc I use for doing work stuff. If I was going to buy another laptop I recon id just get a chrome book as 99% of what I do on it is browsing the web and watching netflix and YouTube which it could do easily.

MS have never really managed to make Windows Updates non irritating. I remember changing group policy back in the XP days to change the feckin restart box from 4 (or whatever it was) hours to 24 between popups.

 

In which time I'd gone home and switched the PC off, heh, up yours Windows.

Situation a bit bleak at the minute, she won't let me get my bits and bobs,she's told manager at work I'm not coming in so job probably up swanny seeing as she is a supervisor at same place as me. If it is a care home they are a regulated industry and have to conform to basic standards, including how their staff behave toward each other. There will be someone more senior you can explain the situation to. I expect they would be understanding, there is nothing in it for them to have employees treat each other that way.

 

It's easy to let things get the better of you but just don't.

She has had her moments before but then again so have I. Part and parcel of a relationship but this has come out the blue. I don't like borrowing money or asking, he offered to pay for this for which I'm grateful but I'm going to go round tomorrow with him and another mate to fetch my belongings and clear out my tools.

Only person above I can speak to is manager but she is as bad. I think a call to cqc may be in order if shit hits the fan. The problem I have with the manager is she doesn't like me and has treated other staff with the same attitude she has treated me to. Someone has already reported it in the past and inspection team came unannounced.
