OK, so yeah, the UK is not the place to be needing air-con all the time. However, over the years I've had air-con equipped cars that have never worked, either because of it being too old a system (Rovers) small issues that are far too complex and expensive to sort (Peugeot) or lack of money (Vectra B 2.2 Diesel).

Basically, I've rarely had the opportunity to have a car with fully working air-con. I would now like this and as per usual with my luck, the issues are dragging on and on and on. Quite simply, I'm utterly fucking pissed off at being able to have something very simple such as working air-conditioning. I'm sure there are others out there who have retro-fitted an air-con system into their cars with less hassle.

I am going to Belgium next month and it will be hot, the last few years of being there have seen me in vehicles that either don't have air con or are not equipped. I want working air conditioning in my car, this shouldn't be too much to ask ffs.

No need to justify yourself, I'll not own a car without working A/C.

I'm really looking forward to dealing with this...

Got a raging toothache on the way, I sense. It's a filling that was done previously (I can't remember when, but within the last 2 years. Probably year..) which was faulty. Took me a little while to convince the dentist that said filling actually was faulty because it shouldn't be loose.

After a few attempts of convincing her, she reluctantly agreed it was indeed loose, and refilled it at the time.

Had a further checkup booked for a couple of months ago now. They decided to randomly cancel it, which is not uncommon.

The only way to rebook is to send an email, to which they will never, ever reply to, or be a bit of a ninja through the automated phone system to actually speak to a human receptionist.

My previous, failed attempt of making a booking (to rearrange the checkup THEY cancelled) went as follows:

"Hello, you recently cancelled my appointment, I would like to rebook please"

"Certainly sir, please email [email protected] detailing your enquiry and a member of our team will call you back to take a booking and a deposit"

WTF?

"Sorry, is this a new policy?" [It was always possible to phone up before, and no deposit was required]

"Yes, due to increased demand and a shortage of NHS dentists we now require a deposit"

Couldn't they make it a little bit more secure, reliable and less convoluted!? It's just an idiotic Friday afternoon management decision to solve a problem that shouldn't exist....

Anyway, my options are -

- Send an email, which will never be replied to. I've tried.

- Ring up and hope to speak to someone helpful who might take a booking and deposit on the spot...

- Take time off work and drive the 15 miles there to arrange the appointment and pay for it in person, risking being turned away and directed towards the defective email booking system.

I'm grateful for NHS dentistry, but quite frankly not when it's not fit for purpose..

😭😭😭

The air-con saga goes on. We're now in almost in the middle of summer and yet the Vectra still doesn't have working air-conditioning.

So this rare unobtainable pipe has now actually been found and was supposed to be fitted, but of course, no. One pipe couldn't be fitted properly due to some broken faster, so now again, I have to wait. At this point I'll never have working air-conditioning in this car.

Waiting for several hours I almost fell ill there, breaking out in a cold sweat and then couldn't stay at my Mum's due to feeling unwell, despite that, I went home, had a sleep for a few hours and felt much better.

I still cannot believe that something that should be so simple has turned into a farce that's dragging on and on and on....

I can recommend a mobile guy in Surrey if it helps? Did lots on my w124 radiator, condenser, pump etc.

Thanks but Surrey is just a bit too far as I'm in Worcestershire.

When did it become acceptable to take your shoes off in the cinema? Went on Friday, there were about five people, shoes off, feet on the headrest of the seat in front.

air-con

Trade you for a car with working AirCon ? 🙈

Local bloke is spot on for AirCon, if you get any further aggro. If it's just a clip and pipe.... how hard can it be ?

Our mate Sam will know someone local and decent.

Disagree. A/c is at least as useful in the winter as it acts as a dehumidifier and helps stop the windows steaming up.

Even in our slightly warm summer , the large amount of glass in the average car’s cabin acts like a green house, so 20C outside can easily get to well over 30C inside. I think maintaining a comfortable temperature inside is a major safety factor for longer trips. A window open on the motorway gets tiring and if you’re too hot you can get drowsy.

So you disagree with me wanting air-con or that I said the UK isn't exactly the place for air-con?

My whole argument is for having air-con. I want air-con in my car, but my luck says otherwise. As I said before, we're now almost in the middle of summer and yet this still hasn't been sorted.

I think it's a general "what's the point" about life.

To which I say the point is there is no point, that's what's great.

I'm trying to scrap my 850. Local-ish place has offered a decent price... But they won't collect it!

This has put a bit of a damper on things. At least they're not too arsed about the missing V5. All of the online places that will collect seem to want the V5 present, which is an issue as it is long gone and I can't get another because the car is a Cat B

Another train journey, another carriage filled with the delightful medley of other peoples’ fucking noise being pumped out of their “devices”… Braindead video dross on YouTube/TwatTok/FaceAche etc, plus the inevitable moron who needs a videocall on full volume speaker every 20 minutes or so….

When did society decide that forcing everyone else sharing a sealed metal tube with you to listen to your personal choice of dross wasn’t unbelievably fucking rude any more?! Or is society now just unbelievably fucking rude in general?! Why don’t these people use earphones FFS?

Grrrr….

I'll have a few bits off it before you do, for the V70 (such as cupholder arm rest etc)
Or alternatively - Purchase V70, happy for you to pay in a few installments, then you've got a complete part car for it (And the shead load of spares also you got with the 850) 😎

I just don't understand it. I would feel so embarrassed and self-conscious if it was my phone producing the noise

Alas no. It's an engine I've had in an 850 before though!

Why are modern small engines so shit?

I'm at my mum's cutting the grass, the strimmer will not stay running no matter what I do, and the lawnmower sounds like it's about to give up. Both are fairly new.

Amused to see the mower appears to have a carb made of some sort of ABS like material.

Curtain twitching neighbours that abuse me and my dad and threaten violence simply for working on cars have a very badly trained Jack Russell, it does my head in. Been having issues with hypersensitivity lately due to medication, and the dog sets my anxiety off terribly because it barks at anything that moves, and the unexpected sudden noise makes me panic.

There's another dog walker that passes by that lets her dog shit and piss on people's lawns. She cleans up the shit, but we're having to take preventative measures - I've had to tell her to stop her dog pissing on my cars before and she responded 'don't park it in the street then'.

Recently noticed on a hot day that she'd let it do it again, and also that her dog was significantly dehydrated. :|

Dad bought a new professional large Husqvarna chainsaw and they cost a bit 5 years later and the engine has failed and it hasn't been used much either as the smaller chainsaw do most of the work. The old Jonsered chainsaw lasted 20 years of hard use before it failed.

Most things today is just shit.
