Flu...

Not man flu, actual flu

FFS.

Same here, shivering but sweating, skin sore and ear ache and teeth hurt, nose blocked and throat like razor blades. Hell, when I meet my six year old neice again I’ll give her a piece of my mind.

I know, I’ve still got sinus issues from last Christmas ( not this one), perhaps this will flush it all out? Bloody kids.

All three of my daughters are very good at keeping up with service schedules and checking all is well with their cars, or at least deputising someone if they are unsure.

Eldest not particularly interested in cars but knows that if not looked after it will break down at the most inconvenient moment.

Middle one has a fairly new MX-5 and a thirty year old Escort RS2000 cabriolet, recently fully restored and kept in a garage.

Youngest has probably had the most cars of any of us, always old tat in decent condition - mini cooper, mini traveller three SAABs, 104 Rover 75, Clios, Fiesta's among others.  Volvo next on her list - wants a C70 cab but will likely end up with a V60.

I have an '02 c70 T-5 cab for sale. 8)

Travelling towards Chester, I find myself following a T4 Transporter. After a mile, I decide I don't want to be chewing his flag any longer. I gently push the 2CV to 62mph. Of course, as soon as I get alongside, twat in a van (lowered, stupid alloys) decides he can't be having that, so boots it and disappears in an even bigger cloud of clay. What a twat.

You need the power of an MV6, you can pretty much out drag anything.

The only car that I had this recently with was 68 reg M4 BMW. Bastard things probably have twice the power.

Which was funny because I made the point of overtaking him a mile later as part of a 5 car overtake - all perfectly safe and within the speed limit.

the constate dissing of the combustion engine.

The article about "NHS watch dog" wanting us to get back to walking and using public transport is rather bizarre. First there should be a decent public transport system to use before we can use it. Populating more speed humps is also against advise that the emergency services say.

But I do agree we should take more exercise.

The use of electric cars is far from being ideal. As this fan of electric cars proves.  This is in counties where they have superior infrastructure for electric cars.Warning long  content.

OH MY DAYS M8!

Paid to park this morning by SMS and missed the first letter off the reg but didn't realise. The call received was blank for the first bit of reading out the reg as I put it onto speaker phone, so I still didn't realise.

It was only at the confirmation SMS, I realised.

You think I can sort this out? NOPE!

So many contacts and emails all leading to dead ends or broken links, I've been trying to sort this shit out for 30 minutes whilst on the train. I tried paying again but this time with the full reg and it wants me to pay triple!

Guarantee there's a £35 charge notice when I get back...

Edit: sorted. The app doesn't take payment because it says that the payment cards expiry date needs to be greater than the current date... It is, but the display format is incorrect so, instead of xx/xx it should be entered xxxx. Lucky that worked out of pure desperation. The app has charged me a normal day rate on the correct registration plate. So I've paid double to park today but I tell you what, it's worth a fiver to save the aggro I'd get with a pcn. Just hope I didn't get a charge in the last 30minutes!

So, should it really be this difficult on a Sunday morning on my way into work?

No.

Same rim? My wife's old MX5 MK3 used to be like that. Tyre places used some sort of sealant on the bead to help it seal. Apparently sometimes manufacturing defects in the rim doesn't allow them to seal properly normally or something.

Or does it have active TPMS? Could be one of the tyre valve sensors causing a slow leak.

Probably the wheel corroded around the bead.

My gf has her P6 and her daily Saxo serviced and maintained quite religiously by her mechanic but once a month she asks me to check the levels on the Saxo and top up if necessary. First time I did it I noticed a line of tippex on the rad cap showing where it needed to be tightened to.

Fuck me this bloke must have arms like Popeye to be able to do it up this tight. I completely failed to get it undone on the first attempt and it was only when I got a rag around it and gave it some welly I managed to crack it off. And when I managed to remove it, the level was quite low.

Presumably they are prone to losing coolant around the expansion tank cap but despite her mechanic doing it up to 200 lb ft every time he has it, it still uses half a litre or so every month, presumably leaking out somewhere else but I can't see any obvious leaks.

More likely the cap is fucked or there's a problem elsewhere; doing them up to a jillion torques just breaks things, if they were meant to be wanged up until the pips squeak they'd be fitted with a tommy bar.

Nightmare journey and I looked at leaves? Leafs? A while back but as a main car the 150 mile round trips I do a lot would be a pain.

Threw the wheel in my boot 5 days ago, just spent £1 at petrol station and they were all 29 psi except this which was 24.

Theres fuck all wrong with it visually and water revealed nothing.

lf it's an alloy it might've become porous.

Tyre off lick of varnish/paint around the wheel should sort it.

Different wheel I believe. The others were nailed.

It does have TPMS, I'm going to leave it in the boot for a week and recheck the psi next weekend.

We should take more exercise.....However, this constant banging of the public transport drum is a bit hollow when its the bus to the hospital that has been cut around our way.   Maybe they actually want us all to drive there and keep that 110 million quid carpark revenue.

Halfway through watching The Godfather trilogy I decided to remove the X-Box 360 from the rack - hasn't been used in three years - and separate the two DVD players.

To do this, one needed a longer HDMI lead.

Pain changing them as all inputs are on the rear of the wall mounted TV and there is only 2" clearance even with it swung out to the maximum, so inputs are nigh-on impossible to see, even with a lighted mirror on a stick.

The DVD player I was using has no video output now.  Tried four leads, one never previously used

The other one is fine but NTSC for my American DVDs.

Bugger bugger bugger.

Posted

If it's a Samsung tv, try a different hdmi input.

Posted

It's an LG.  Using both inputs.  The NTSC player works on either.

Oddly enough there is no sound on the TV from either input, which is moot as I play the noise through a decent stereo.

Has to be said that NTSC is shite. Watching a Jackie Evancho Concert as disc was in the machine when I turned it on.

I'll try the DVD player on son's TV when he gets back from Scotland.

public transport in Spain most of locations is non existent. One Hospital is an hour away from us and getting to and from via public transport means taking one of 3 buses a day a taxi and a regular local bus route (the latter part is sort of ok but I do not recall the long distance bus stopping near the route to the local bus. Getting from my village to the first appointment of the day cannot be done unless you have a car or taxi. Car parking is reasonably priced thankfully. One cannot get fined for non payment. Ticket collection on the way in. Pay at machine on the way out, insert the ticket to raise the barrier and leave.

Going back to EVs another long trip which turned out to be a nightmare. This time in the UK. too much stress in this world then we have to deal with EV;s too. :-(

Lift that manhole lid up, trip over it and submit claim to council.    When told to do one because it's not their road push the ticket up said officer's nostril.

Bled like a bastard but so far no hospital.   Might put the outcome up on a "Show us yer Gash" thread when the dressing comes off but only if it isn't a wussy little scratch after all.

Two relatives have recently bought nearly new cars. Both took up the dealer's £300 paintwork treatment, which since you can't even see it is probably non-existent anyway. I bet those garages are laughing their bollocks off.

I remember years ago delivering furniture to a furniture chain called Uno upholstery, a bit like ELS/Sofaworks etc. and got told that when the salesmen pressure you into buying their 'upholstery protection package/ Scotchguard' not to bother getting it as they all come with it if you order it or not. Crafty twats.

Good effort that, still worth it to get rid of xmas lights though!

Bought a game from some random on twitter. He was getting rid of loads. Seemed OK.

That was about 3 weeks ago. Cunt of course hasn't sent it (I gave it time for Xmas) no reply to emails or twitter where he was last on 3 days ago.

Paid into his bank so I've got his name and now I've found his address (Internet is good for shit like that) he's getting the next week, as I'm on holiday, and a few more emails or he'll just have to take it further. Bit sad really as it's only the giant amount of £7, still it's my 7 quid.
