If the signs are off how are you supposed to know how fast/slow to drive?

I have never personally encountered them that I know of.

I believe the convention on a motorway is 70 or less, in the absence of information to the contrary.  HTH.

Good question. I can tell you that at 81, you'll get a flash and some points or an invitation to meet a roomful of disgruntled motorists and two terribly sincere ex traffic cops for a morning's banter. How much closer to 70 you have to be to avoid this I do not know.

Gulp. At least it won't only be me though by the people around me

I'm trying to release some otters in to the wild, and all I can hear through the open window is some young male bellowing at the top of his lungs.

More importantly, why were you having a pony in your own garden?

Heatstroke can fuck off and get a big black dog up itself!

I haven’t felt so rough in years. Sitting here wrapped up and shivering. I could have swam up and down my bed last night I was sweating so much. I thought the saintly Mrs. B was going to drown. Been like it since Thursday and I’m so fed up. Not good at being ill me.

Motorway = NSL.

I was more concerned about the variable speed limit.

Best of luck mate.  Heatstroke's a real shitter.

Ceremonial, just planted some tomato plants.

An offering to the Gods as it were.

Thanks matey. It is cuntingly awful.

Can anyone explain why when it gets even slightly sunny/warm that fuckwits need to sit in their garden with the radio blaring away?

What does some shitty music and of course the then constant shouting over it bring to the occasion? Why don't they just fuck off to the nearest beer garden with all the other cliche wankers.

Obtain some wood and equip yourself with a chainsaw; when the foghorn voices start up just commence firewood cutting. They'll fuck off to the pub then, or at least go indoors.

That's when I invite my old metal band around.  I was the drummer.

Chocolate being a no-no for dogs generally, sounds like you got lucky. Could equally have resulted in a fatal poisoning.

Is it?

One of my parent’s neighbours has a couple of bulldogs ( I think) and she gives them half a mars bar as a treat.

Yeah, regardless of how much noise is being made, poisoning dogs is going way, way too far.

Chocolate contains theobromine, very toxic to all living animals, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theobromine

Not to mention the sugar would upset a dog.

Apparently. Grapes too. I don't know how poisonous it is to every dog and how much is a paranoia based on social media campaigns (and the cynic in me wonders if vets aren't cashing in on the fear).

My dog eats grapes, raisins, chocolate raisins, etc. He has stolen my after eights and suffered no ill effects. One of my dad's dogs used to nip in and pluck grapes off the fruit bowl, the other liked them too, but only if you peeled them first.

Obviously though I wouldn't give a dog chocolate, and while I do let Gruff enjoy the odd grape every now and then, I wouldn't give one to anyone else's dog. I'm just not 100% convinced about how deadly dangerous these things are.

Posted

its not paranoia, we had a dog almost die of it. grapes, onions and most nuts are also poisonous.

oh yes i was very much aware of this before hand.

and yes, either that or shitting all over the place were what i considered to be acceptable results.

ain't i a stinker!

Almost a stinker with a criminal record if it had gone the wrong way. Only need to be unlucky once.

This ungrateful little bastard managed to dump its gearbox oil out of the driveshaft seals onto the exhaust this morning. I wondered why it had very little in when I was going through it last week. Ho hum, the driveshafts need to come off for new boots and joints so I suppose they'll just have to come off sooner than planned.

People...seriously, roundabout 101: give way to traffic from the right.

That does not mean make eye contact with me then pull out in front of me. Lucky for you in the E plate BMW 320i (red, well...pink) with the Halfords body kit that I was watching and that the Activa has good brakes. Even if the other idiot who was tailgating me had to mount the verge to avoid me as a result.

That's at least five or six idiots I've had to take evasive action on roundabouts today to avoid. Plus nearly getting T-Boned by a Stobart's wagon who decided that the red light on the roundabout just off the M1 didn't apply to him. We're not talking "just turning red" we're talking four or five cars having stacked up in the adjacent lane before he shot through without even touching the anchors.

Seriously, it's not rocket science. Or does the sun just make so many people even more stupid?

...I *really* need to get a dash cam.

Looks like loss of gearbox oil/fluid is fast becoming a thing.

Put another litre of Dexron III in the CX gearbox earlier, plus some Lucas Auto Trans Fix. Still slipping between 1700 and 2500 rpm, but maybe a little less. There's a third litre of Dexron III to go in tomorrow.

Small amounts of arsenic were used for many things, but it can still go wrong.

Anyone at the wheel of a HGV is going to be on autopilot at some stage due to the monotony of the job. Lucky nobody in the way.....this time.

Apparently the m1 south Yorkshire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire are on at a constant 70 now too.

If that's the case I'm in trouble because I did J29A to 32 and back at 80-90 today. That said there was a convoy of 8-10 police motorbikes who overtook me, and cars were overtaking them!

I sent cruise to 72 indicated speed now. Just in case. True speed 69-70
