The grumpy thread

I really like the BBC nowadays. I have loads of their shows on DVD and CD (mostly Radio 4 and BBC2) and their cover of big events like The Olympics is always really good. I can't stand their popularist crap like Eastenders, The Archers or any saturday evening "light entertainment". That's not just BBC though.

My mates mrs is up the spout and due to the lack of progress on the MR2 (in nearly 2 years all we've done is take off the brakes), she's insisted that it has to be sold as she wants another car.

He stuck it on EBay and it sold but apparently the highest bidder 'bid by accident' (Sorry, sleep ebaying again) and so it was listed for a second time and the new winner has done a dissapearing act now too.

What is wrong with people? How empty does your life have to be to bid on stuff you don't want to buy. Plain odd really.

Hopefully someone else will want it. Not really much concern to me as its his wife that wants shot of it and its on his drive so its not really on my radar but still annoying.

Goddammit. Somehow managed to knock a chip out of the bottom of my beloved Cortina mug.

It's bloody peeing it down when I need to be outside welding

Tried it on here? Might be an easy sale

I mentioned it on here to see if anyone wanted to buy into it but didn't do a proper thread for the sale etc. I've been a bit lazy really just leaving it all up to him as its at his house. I might get off me backside and do something if it doesn't go. Not sure if anyone on here will want it though in its current condition. It's been a pretty poor show on this car really by us. Previous joint car ownership schemes always went quite well but that was in the olden days before life got in the way.

It's not a bad idea as such but I can foresee lots of problems when the van cannot get parked close enough to the car which needs fuelling and another issue is that you will have to be at your car when they come and fill it to unlock it.

Well if it didn't rain there'd be no need for welding.

Isn't that just the truth

Bosses also confirmed that it will offer hydrogen when that technology becomes more widespread.

So, never then.

Actually I think that's a pretty decent service. I hate filling stations. I'd use it on those days when I haven't been organised enough to go to fill up on the way to work and then have to get home in time for some ridiculous activity or other my children are doing.

It does feel like there's a bit more of a modern way to do it.

Perhaps a home broadband tax - £1 a month up to 10Mb, £2 a month 11-50Mb and £3 a month for over 50Mb or something. I'd have thought that would raise a few quid since it could just be put on the bill and you'd save a fortune in chasing non-payers. It's also more relevant, but if you exempt the lower end it means people can still use it for education, communication etc. You're really only taxing people who want 300Mb/sec services for torrents or movies etc.

We've not had an aerial connected for years - I use it more for picking up weird shit with the computer like air traffic control. I think this year might be the last year I pay Virgin or Sky too, just resigned to Virgin but we're watching more and more streaming, and not even iPlayer/ITVPlayer/4OD etc any more. Netflix, YouTube etc is more and more important.

Whilst I agree with some of this, ultimately I’d love to see the BBC become self-sufficient. Whilst the rest of the nation has to tighten the reins financially, the beeb continue to enjoy an enormous publicly-funded salary pot. With this, they’ll continue to make up numbers and pay their increasingly large list of ‘celebs’ the ridiculous sums they demand.

They’re taking the piss.

Major ranty day.

Shitty day at work due to Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle reliability* and quality*.

Got home, bath drain blocked as its does once a fortnight (because John Wayne plumbed the bathroom). Now unblocked.

Got into living room, cat on top of cat tree decides to puke from up there to make a nice splat on the floor. Because it's a twat.

Start cleaning up cat vom, other cat starts attacking me as she's guarding it. She's a prick.

Go to unload dishwasher, flap that you pour the powder in decided not to open so, back on again.

Stepdaughter manages to block kitchen sink. Switch off dishwasher. Dismantle pipes as Mr Muscle stuff didn't work. Finger from rubber glove managed to get stuck in the incomprehensible maze of soil pipework (Kitchen plumbed in by Clint Eastwood). Unblocked but now leaking from 2 soil pipe joins, which I didn't even touch. Landlord wants ME to repair the joints and submit receipts from parts etc. to letting agents for as little cost as possible. 'Cos Rigsby.

Non-puking but previously violent towards me cat now howling for food. Fresh biscuits, fresh pouch of wet food, fresh water and it turns its nose up, hisses at me and walks away. Because it's a prick.

Start preparing dinner, nice beef stew, both the turnip and leek I bought yesterday are rotten inside. So just carrots, celery, onions and herbs. Trim ends of celery stalks, throw stalks in bin and retain manky bits I've just cut off. Cos brainfart.

Start dicing meat, doorbell goes, I let visitor in, meanwhile cat that had previously chundered from a colossal* height is now on the kitchen worktop eating the fucking meat I've just diced up. Because it's a twat.

The spirits are against me today, I'm going for a shower and going to bed. The wife can cook when she gets home.

The BBC is great, despite various allegations of it been too lefty or righty, depending on who you talk to.

More than happy to pay the licence fee, constant advertising breaks and the amount of cretinous morons on ITV are a shining example of how commercial telly can be bloody awful a lot of the time.

I wonder whether these vans and drivers going round London full of petrol and diesel are subject to the same ADR requirements as regular HGV tankers and drivers?

I mean, its not the most dreadful idea I've ever heard, but when the day arrives that I cannot manage to call in and fill my own car up once a fortnight, i'll probably just call it a day.

There are more than enough cretinous morons on the BBC. I like being able to pause and fast-forward.

That'll be the fuel injection relay (or corroded relay socket) swop it with the wiper relay and all will be fine. Until your wipers don't work...

Update: waggled the cables running to the socket. Problem fixed, and we now have starting, firing and running!

Can concentrate on the slipping gearbox now.....

Work cancelled for tomorrow, brilliant was already a short week, I bloody hate 0 hours contract.

My aunt used to park like that, or the opposite way with the back end in the road (with a Morris 1100); although to be fair she used to leave the keys in, in case anyone needed to move it.

Need a couple of batteries. Decided to get some proper ones online for a change instead of being a miser and getting one from the dismantlers.

What a fucking shitshow buying from every single place I looked at is. You can search on pretty much everything but not what side the terminal is on. Tried several websites and it was the same thing, would select a load of batteries that fitted my needs and it would whittle it down but for most of them I'd have to click in to see what side the negative was on and guess what, it was never on the side I wanted.

WHY IS THIS NOT A CHOICE?

Fecked it off and am popping down the scrappy for a couple of random £15 jobbies like normal. Never doing that again.
