Bristol Cars Fan?

If unlike me you are a fan of Bristol Cars, here is your last chance! The assets of the company are up for auction, everything from cars to memorabilia, bucks to tools, merchandise and even some Autoshite motors in a diesel BMW and a Lacetti.

687, as close as you get to Italian Chic meets 686, the offspring of a Cortina and Marvin the Paranoid Android.

I could roll around in that and insist people call me Signori Altobene.

I'm planning to bid on some of the furniture but it looks like it's already attracting some interest. Weirdly, the important stuff (ie not 'regalia' or multiple copies of the same shit book) - the actual plans and blueprints for Bristol's entire car producing life, are not being offered in an open auction but by sealed bidding. I assume the BOC and Bristol Archive Trust are trying to secure as much of this stuff as possible. It was all stored in the old plan chests of the basement of the Kensington St showroom when I visited a few years ago... some amazing stuff in there

Is that the original Bullet listed? No bids yet, but no idea what that will go for

Which parts bin did those rear lights on the Brigand come from? They looks familiar but can't quite place them. Some kind of commercial vehicle?

I’ve only looked at this lot so far, but it’s about 5mins from my home. For some reason ( money?) the workshop moved to part of the old Linde BOC site a couple of years ago.

Does anyone know whether the headlights are from a Ford Cortina Mk.V '80, or a VW K70?

I seem to recall exactly this conversation kicking off on the eBay thread a little while back. Sadly I can't remember that the consensus was, although I'm pretty sure it was neither of those suggestions.

It's been suggested elsewhere that the Brigand took its headlights from a Talbot Tagora.  Along with its lunch money, presumably...

EDIT: I'm not so sure...

Good to know they understand your affliction before you bid, saves you having to worry about being sectioned.

There's a £200 3 series estate listed and a £300 Chevrolet Lacetti. Chodtastic, could be a bargain for someone on here...

Posted

The 3 series has 230k on the clock, a fair bit of rust and I’d also guess a few other issues.

Beyond getting the tipex out and making the side read “bisto ars”, I don’t see much value in it.

Posted

Aye, but... It's £200. Even if it dies, you can weigh it in and you'll have essentially spent 20 quid on the privilege of being able to write "Bisto ars" on a car. Bargain!

The lights are from a Panther Rio I think. Shared with a Mk2 Granada?1019155142_Screenshot2020-08-25at22_45_44.thumb.png.240ab864ce9a7a7a5f44117bb5f944ef.png

Given the Rio predates the Mk2 Granny, do you mean Mk1? That battery looks well secured*.

Phwoar, that lacetti is fit for £300. I reckon a manual one would be alright as generic transportation, ours is only really let down by the dire autobox.

Shame the Lacetti isn’t signwritten!

Sure that could be fixed*

Seems Bristol Cars wasn’t a particularly happy place to work. Also they didn’t change the password for the website access after firing everyone...

it has of course disappeared from Twitter, but enough people screenshot or transcribed it.
