Looks like a nice car that's been put away only for the front of the building to collapse. It's clearly been under cover and apart from the obvious damage looks fair.

"damage to wings but can be repaired"

Indeed - but beating those wings out and finding a new rad and shell and headlamps etc will be expensive. Given the way classic car values are going £1000 is a 2021 price...

No modern indicators or rear lights fitted - could well have been stored since the 1960's.

Nope. It runs on R12 which is NLA. To get it running again will require new seals throughout the system including the evaporator which is behind the dash.

It’s where he reckons it did 150mph, never been! He was probably fucking Daryl Hannah on the back seat at the same time.

A ford still remains the only car I've cracked 150mph in but it was a mildly tuned Cossie which could do that from the factory as standard. Got there pretty easily as well. Obvs Speedo were very inaccurate back then but by revs and gearing we were covering a lot of miles very quickly.

Not a chance that Granada has done 150, 115-120mph with a downhill wind. Possibly. 😂

Its one of the reasons after the last time I went to a Ford Show at Santa Pod I swore I’d never go again, they just seem to attract the type of person that upon seeing one they HAVE to come out with a wildly exaggerated fact or in many cases something that’s pure fantasy. Here is a bit of a guide to being a Ford Walt:

- Be sure if you attend one of these shows to have some sort of PVC jacket with all the Ford Motorsport ephemera on, ideally complement it with a padded hat with RS on it or whatever, if you can sew some badges on so much the better. Bottom half go with some loose Under Armour 3/4 length shorts to hide the inevitable erection when you see a Cosworth of some description.

- Debrief the wife if she accompanies you, no end of Ford Walts are found out at the first hurdle by the wife saying ‘No Paul, I’m sure it was a 1.1L we had’. In any case it’s likely once you return to your flat she’ll be that impressed with your stories about overtaking Jackie Stewart at Croft that she’ll probably have blown you at least four times on the coach back.

- Have your stories ready, the guy with the Mondeo ST200 will be expecting at least a salutary tale about the 1.8LX you had that pasted at ST at the lights last week.

- Don’t be too outlandish with your claims, stick to something plausible like your Dad, being a milkman from Rotherham and having a Grattons round was specially selected by Ford to test drive a one off Mondeo Cosworth, it’d do 0-60 in 4.5 seconds and had 620nm of torque. In fact he’s still got it, it’s coming out one day when the times right and the fanfare has died down. He can’t show it anyone however as he signed an NDA with Ford and if anyone sees it the magic will go away

- Name drop, where appropriate. A pint you had in the Farmers Arms with Richard Parry-Jones when he asked you your thoughts on the control blade suspension or when you winded Henri Kankunen in the pits on the 1998 WRC for questioning your exuberant driving style.

- Steer clear of bandying knowledge with one of the 6,000 one model owners clubs, these people are experts in their field. Crossing swords with them by spouting nonsense will see you outed.

- Make doubly sure when seeing a perfectly preserved 1.3L Capri or a Sierra Emax to pass the comment of what a crying shake that it’s not a Tickford or a Cosworth. The owners will be hoping you don’t point out that they’ve totally wasted their time on preserving a piece of street furniture, other Walt’s around you will be keen to point this out as well.

- Flash the cash, these events are an excellent opportunity to point out your people your independent valuation, be sure to let people know your independent assessment of the value is. People love to hear throwaway comments about how ‘if you’d kept that Mk1 3100 you never had it’d be worth at least £100k’

I’ve got a photo, somewhere, of the speedo reading 120mph in my Mk5 1.6L Cortina, on the M6 in about 1989. It was bouncing around all over the place and snapped at the right time, but that’s proof surely?😂

One of my cars is specifically built to attract these types so as to enjoy winding them up.

The three door in the racing colours? That does look pretty convincing to be fair, I’d imagine you get ‘Remember seeing that at Silverstone in 1978’ 😂

They’ve got that swage line below the fuel filler absolutely spot on. Excellent work.

I've shared the 'before' photo (from only a couple of years ago) previously and I'll share it again. Proof, if ever, that there should be solid punishments for this sort of fuckery.

This is the concern when by some pure accident stupid moronic people happen by pure luck to have money in their hands, because they’ve got the attention span of an Orange they turn something like that out.
