Just a few "minor" things needed for MoT,

"Needs hanbrake fixing for mot, rear wiper.not working, gearstick wants adjusting, no front number plate. passenger mirror glass , Interior wants deep clean. No questions about service history or any other time wasting questions thanks"

@Dick Longbridge what makes you think it is a South African car? Their cars were slightly different spec than ours and often with bigger engines. I have not seen anything 2 door from South Africa before, except their pick ups but they had bigger engines. I could be wrong but this looks UK spec. The speedo is in mph too, SA use kph.

Fair point. I saw the unusual plates (since spotted they're Irish plates!) and the bubbles showing under the shiny blowover and automatically assumed SA snotter.

Has anyone ever tried going on holiday in a 1970's radiogram?

Half expecting Bagpuss to come out of that.

Genuinely don't get camping. After a working week in a damp dirty shithole, I expect my holiday accommodation to be a least of the standard of my home. Not a replica of my workshop.

Another 'big money' MK4. Messing with my head this one though, as looks like it's the basic (i.e not even an 'L') 1.3 but surely the  BVR and the black panel aren't standard and it's got the wrong wheels?

Vynil roof appears to be factory as it has the trim piece on c pillar between grille & rear window, but only the "S" had a black rear panel, it should have plain steel bumpers & plain wheels  , I'd say resprayed too.

Only desirable thing is it's a 2dr mk4s are a bit unloved too.

Looks like a short wheelbase to me!

Rare narrow chassis too.

Fabric seats were optional on the base model but standard on the L. The rubber bumper inserts and pinstripes are L only, vinyl roof and sports wheels were also optional when new.  The black back panel though is clearly wrong.
I agree it seems expensive for a poverty spec that has not enough doors and needs work.

Cheap, if fucked, RHD Innocenti.  1275cc A Series probably worth close to that on its own if it's not completely knackered.

No eye deer why it has a 63 plate on it as a 53?

between about 1977 and the early 1990's it was policy that any vehicle 1963 *and* older being robbed of a number plate would be issued an A suffix "age" related plate regardless of age, this is why you see a lot of surviving vintage vehicles on A suffix plates

(Genuine A suffix vehicles fly under the radar because of this, only a few county councils actually issued A suffix plates in period, so its always fun when you spot a genuine one from period :)

Such a good looking little car that. Wish I had the time, patience and skill for a restoration.
