Yellow fibreglass  wedge with added grunt

"In the 1970’s Lotus made some Rover V8 demonstration vehicles for the USA market since they hadn’t fitted the Elite/Eclat with the intended 4 litre quad cam V8, instead using half the engine as a solution to the 1970’s fuel crisis."

Is there any truth in that, or has this guy created his own fantasy?

So, that AI eBay listing bollocks.

Just for amusement, I've been on it to see what it would come up with for my 1998 A4 1.8t. This, ladies and gentlemen, is it.

"This elegant Audi A4 saloon is a fine example of the German automaker's excellent craftsmanship. With a sleek blue exterior and a spacious grey interior, this vehicle can comfortably seat up to five passengers and boasts a manual transmission for a truly engaging driving experience. The petrol fuel type delivers an efficient and smooth ride, making it perfect for long journeys. Additionally, the four doors provide easy access to the vehicle, making it a practical and convenient choice. Whether you're a fan of Audi vehicles or simply seeking a reliable and stylish mode of transportation, this A4 model is sure to impress."

What a fucking time to be alive.

I’ve never read the bit about Rover engined demo cars for the US before but the talk for years was that a V8 was just around the corner. It did happen, but only for the Esprit, 10 years or so after the last Elite.

There have been several Rover V8 converted Elite / Excels. The competently done conversions do look like the engine belongs in there, seems to take up less room than the Lotus engine.

Oh.

"Was brought to reshell a XR2 which never happened. Has been partly stripped in preparation. Everything is inside the car including 2 new front wings. Doesn’t have any seats. Is the non sunroof model so could be used for a track day car."

People.

Just, people.

Looks pretty genuine to me, although it's always difficult to tell for sure.

Would love it at that price if I had money and space - needs to be back on these(?) wheels tho? And sell the Brooklands wheels....

Am I right in thinking that the 2.5 wasn't a Miller engine?

Strong money though but the interior isn't migrane inducing which is nice for a 1990s Japanese car.

I thought 2.5 = Glen Miller/Xedos 9 and 2.0 = Xedos 6... But I've been wrong before.
