Yeah I run a GL and the tax is on the high side but most big engined 4x4s after 2005 are high tax

I see it as small potatoes for a car that does everything I need it to, is easy to work on and has been quite reliable.

Trouble is that I already have the Volvo 940 @ £300+ road tax - if I add the R Class then I'm pushing £1,000 for an 'occasional/weekend' use brace of vehicles. I could faff around on an alternate month SORN I guess? Wonder if the family accountant would go for that?
Windscreen is circa £400, EML I'd take a punt on - sorely tempted but I'd need to have serious negotiations with The Management

Interesting spiel in that ad - I'm getting the idea that the seller has no basic idea wtf they are actually punting?
Intriguing idea but it's about 120 miles from here - would it get me home? FaceAche reckons it is an Golf Cart. I think he's missed the BIG SALE idea in that it is ULEZ compliant

'Arse T' sounds like the answer to 'who sung 99 Problems?' in a  Stoke pub quiz.

Yeah, so sorry I missed this one a few days back (been bizzy)

So this vaguely interested me if only for the number plate.

Ah ok, so they've retained it then.

So what will happen is, someone will get the winning offer, rock up, find that its reg is actually DL51PVM and go "Yeah, fuck right off, bye"

Rinse and repeat.

This looks absolutely epic. E430 in a fantastic spec from a long term owner in what seems to be remarkable condition, at a bargain price! Absolutely would.

This can only really be topped by an E55 in similar condition.

Doesn't matter, just buy it before it's gone!

If you fly to East Midlands I will take you to Cambridge for free. I need to make sure someone buys it because I'm falling for it!

The danger is it's not going to be available until the 18th and I'll have lost enthusiasm by then.

In my vast experience of motorcar ownership, low owners trumps all other factors.

Someone should buy this immediately.  It’s in the RAV4 owners group.

That’s nice but why couldn’t the seller just advertise it on the 18th August when it’s available?

I could fetch this easily for you. Thinking about snaffling it and raffling it too.

“You can’t park there mate”

At least that angle of shot helps hide the weird roofline

This has @NorfolkNWeighwrote all over it

Only just seen this and it’s sold 😕

Probably just as well as I’ve already bought a nice sensible 220d estate for my holiday and not sold anything since last year. Even so that would definitely find a place hidden down the road somewhere until I get rid of something. I bet it will reappear on Car and Classic for £4995 in a few days.

Not surprised it's sold. That was a screaming deal we won't see again anytime soon. One of those cars you have to take the risk for and immediately offer a deposit and collection plan.

Identical* to the one, I was a passenger in that ended upside down in a ditch full of water, after it went out of control and hit a pedestrian (who subsequently died).

I'm sure with the right tyres, and a dry road, they might have safe handling as long as you don't go too fast.

*apart from that it was a 1275 Auto.

Saw this on FB, the listing there has a pic of the batteries; as it's just lead acid I'd be very surprised if it gets anything like 70 miles out of a charge, I'd be expecting more like 40 unless you drive at 30mph.
