Had me fooled at first as more convincing acting than the real one can manage.

I wish you the best of luck. The 2.0 auto IS the best engine/powerhouse combo a guy could want. I’ve seen that listed a few times on evilbay and hummed about it. Ok it wants sills and a new fuse box. And if that’s it, then get it boughted. We can be auto Carlton buddies foreva! If that’s how the saying goes. Maybe. I dunno.

Thank you good Sir fingers crossed for the win.

I believe the car just needs welding service and an MOT the fuse box was fixed in 1997 but the scorch marks still remain. I could do the majority of the work myself a pair of brand new sills are included in the sale so i was gonna ask @Ian_Fearn to do the welding but i believe he has fled the country after a disagreement with a lollipop lady.

I believe the term is bum chums but regardless we will be the coolest bum chums around cruising in our Carltons

Fiat 127

Sorry if we've already had this, can never keep up with the thread. I had a blue one of these as my first car in 1988, UME13S, although mine did have inner wings

Have had a minor hankering for a ovloV barge like one of these, however have always found the headroom to be completely inadequate for me, being in excess of 6'.

Especially the rear. But you don't tend to buy a car to be a passenger in it! Supremely comfortable seats however that sunroof really does eat into the interior space.

ABS faults can be a pain on Volvo's from this era though, scanners won't interrogate them

Also the lovely 3 litre 6 Cyl lump for optimal HYDROCARBON smell on cold mornings. A smell which I miss, greatly :)

Plot twist: the car is actually red, the yellow is the MOT tester's chalk.

ULEZ Exempt historic vehicle slush-matic in lots-o-brown with an MOT for Sub £2K? theres gotta be a catch there? somewhere surely? as it sounds almost too good to be true otherwise

this would be awesome for slushing around London in :) (or other city centre with a emissions charge zone of your choosing/miss fortune to be stuck with)

Had one, it had an annoying ABS fault which I couldn't fix.

The engine warms up nice and quick in winter because it's so inefficient!

Being 5'7" I didn't notice a lack of space, seemed ok to me.

8/10 would have another

Yeah, the Greek/Cypriot Esprit had a lot of engine work done, and they didn't start with a 'high compression' scrap 3.5.

There was also an MG Metro '8R4' built for a customer BITD.

Please note - I am not ragging on the Rover V8; they can and do make decent power, but 'us true car guys' treating it like a talisman of OMG POWER like it's 1975 really do need to sack it off now.

In 1993, I was on a project with an engineer who had put a Rover V8 in an esprit. He also had a CAT C aldi Quattro he had rebuilt. And a mk3 spitfire that he was trying to flog to me.

This is confusing. 1.3L with plazzy bumpers in 1985? Seats look a bit plush, too.

BL lickers to the beige phone, please - Agatha Christie style mystery to uncover.

All L's had the plastic bumpers - only the base and City X spec came with the black metal ones.

The seat trim is standard - L spec material became slightly plusher for the 1984 model year.  This would be a late registered early dashed model - C plate was the crossover period for when the dash was swapped for the Montegos and the Mayfair trim level added.

@sierraman what's the 2.0 pez like in these? Any stupid belts or grenadey bits?

I imagine it'll be a bit thirsty but I can see petrol staying 20-30p less than dirty diesel for a while, plus it would be nice to be able to drive to Places without paying for the privilege.

2.0 Duratec, good unit, not as prone to be smoky as the smaller displacement in the Mondeo/Focus. Piss flaps in manifold can get noisy, occasional EGR problem. Thermostat is a bitch to do, sometimes they’ll piss oil from the crank end seal like every Ford. Other than that no real complaints, expect maybe average 30-32 mpg.

Careful if you go for a diesel one, the black ones have often been ex Addison Lee, which any cyclist in London will tell you, will have had a very hard life.

You've posted some top tat there @eggward but I can't seem to get any of the links to work? Are they in sales groups rather than marketplace?

I can see all of them apart from the Rover 75 which seems to.have gone so don't think they in groups

Yes - removed my post now.  It was because I was logged in as a page on Facebook, not my own account.  Schoolboy error.

That Peugeot looks alright! Wonder if it needs the old 'Dodgy Tom Tickle' on the nearside rear quarter.

Clean, straight Granny for 800 notes.

Seems cheap for what it is - hope it escapes the banger boys.

I'd seen the fake blud photos on antisocial media previously. Bizarre he's using some of them to try and sell it with though.

It seems a lot of car for the money. Not my bag but thought it well worth sharing. I reckon it's close to being bought for the oval at that price though.

I said this would be relisted within a week when it ended up going for £1950.

It might have been nearer two weeks, I can't be arsed to trawl through several dozen pages, but I wasn't far off. There was no way anybody was going to pay £1950 for it.
