A £1000 AMG with various warning lights on. WCPGW?

Oooooooh my that's a tempting prospect but no way of getting it past the Mrs I'm afraid.

Very easy to control* all those lights on the dash to pass any mot required.......

Provided you can solder 😉😉😉

I think I only drove mine (derv sadly not V8 😢😢) for about 3 months without anything on the dash and it felt odd and boring. Sure enough, a seatbelt warning popped up along with either a BAS/ESP/ABS alarm, unsure what as I linked those bulbs to the one that worked at the time so could be either or both. Never really affected driveability and got scrapped after I'd finished with it.

Seems like that might do someone a good turn for a year or two. Impressive to have covered all those miles and still look reasonably decent. These don't rot that bad and the 1.9tdi is a great lump. Must have been well looked after to go for all that time.

Disappointingly, I can't find my copy of, "Four Wheels to a Fortune", -for it spake truth- but I did find a stash of old CAPs that I thought I'd always sold on.  Strangely a lot of traders would never subscribe to CAP or Glass's themselves, but were quite happy to pay over the odds for last months issue.  I might suggest they only dealt in cash all of their lives and believed it was a cloak of invisibility when it came to HMRC.

Here's one for the @Kiltox Rescue Home for Shit Broken Electric Cars.

Didn't I read somewhere that the traction batteries for these are NLA?

Yep. One without a battery is properly worthless.  Guess you could kill a Leaf to make it work again, some would say that’d be worth it.

A quick stalk of the MOT history shows that it was doing 20k a year at some points. One of these would be pretty ideal for our purposes tbh but this one might be a step too far. I can't weld either, but it looks like the sills were done less than 3 years ago so maybe they've got some time left.

I like these. What a cool looking thing. French spaceship bus.

@djoptix was looking for a bus, I don't know if that vacancy has been filled. I keep wanting him to get an old Espace because they're bulletproof*.

Not sure if I dreamed this but I remember years ago the RAC rally had a massive downpour of snow and the Skoda rally team absolutely destroyed the competition with these as they had fitted slightly bigger tyres on the rear (yes I know their fwd) apparently this was an old trick of Stig Blomqvists who was driving at the time

It happened, but it was a Felicia, though that's pretty much the same thing once you've stripped everything out and fitted a cage. Can't remember the year, though it would be easily googlable. 1994/95ish at a guess. He managed to finish 3rd overall. Not 3rd in class, Škoda won their class for years on end anyway. But actually 3rd overall beating all the 4WD stuff in their front wheel drive Felicia. I presume the Top Gear Stig is named after Mr Blomqvist. Legend.

How much do you know about what's under the bonnet of that Favorit? My (bog standard) one had a 1.3 of some description, possibly OHV although couldn't swear to it.

That rally Fav has twin Webers which is nice, but I wonder what else it might be packing to liven it up a little?

Just realised how similar the spelling of 'fluence' is to 'flatulence'.

Traditional tuning. Free flow exhaust and some impractical cam profiles.

This needs to be saved and hopes no one destroys this as the seller suggests.

It mentions a different camshaft and you'd hope it had some sort of nice flowing exhaust though I can't see it in any of the pictures. Also the battery is on the other side from mine, though it says it was converted from LHD so if there was no need to move it best leave it alone I guess.

With these it's more a case of what they haven't got than what they have. Simplify and add lightness, or was it the other way round. I can't help thinking that roll cage would weigh more than all the stuff they stripped out, though it is obviously a necessity. Also notice it has mk2 door trims so probably mk2 doors. These have extra side impact bars which would seem unnecessary with a roll cage!

The wheels look similar but not the same as the original rally wheels which were also four spoke but magnesium so much lighter.

Yep, OHV engine. They bored it out to a 1.4 for the Fabia.

It must have been the last OHV in mass production. Lasted until 2003 I think. Does anyone know of a later one? Has a really short timing chain too. So short it doesn't have a tensioner. They can stretch a bit which makes them a bit rattly but I've never known one break or skip a tooth.
