My late dentist had one. The same day I was driving to an appointment in the 2cv through a very flooded chester ( I was ok until a truck put a bow wave over the bonnet) he was driving in from the Wirral. He said the water went up to the bottom of the windows and all the dash lights came on but he carried on going and the engine didn’t stall.  He had DPJ 1 as the reg for over forty years- the first car I remember it on was a green, late 1970s Mercedes SLC.

It's missing the rubbing strip on the passenger side front wing which makes me wonder if the wing has been replaced, not the end of the world but it's not a cheap car.

I bought a brand new Jeep in 2000, W Reg, so slightly newer than this one. Sold it in 2004 with 25000 miles and it was already falling apart . ( only car I’ve ever had that failed it’s 1st MOT). God knows how bad this one must be.

Whichever brand and price you think is the right compromise. Unfortunately I don't know any of the 3 remaining brands but a quick Google search should give you an idea which brand has some experience in manufacturing quality parts.
