Why? I could imagine some sort of V6 out of a Rover 75 being forced into the engine bay (No idea how) but a poxy 1.4 out of a polo? Not worth the effort.  Who was it that was shoehorning a big VAG engine into a little Lupo. Thats more the spirit.

I'd imagine it'd probably been engine raped for a Mini and the Polo engine was the easiest way to get it mobile again.

Has he got a horizontal radiator in there above the gearbox? I'm sure that must have a fantastic throughput of air if so. Also it looks like 'Mr Stay Puft' from the back

This is just lovely, and not too badly priced either at £4500 I think.

67 Victor 101 estate

My god that is hugely tempting as a ULEZ exempt London wagon.

Spotted by @Pieman here

And sold for £2160 + Premium in 2016

Have we seen this before some time ago? Seller says it was on Bangers and Cash though I think he might mean Flipping bangers, dunno though.

It's an ex-Autoshite car, I think imported by @Alexg and subsequently featured on 'a telly show'. Seems ot have struggled since then to find a good loving home. Shame, nice thing, but I'm an R5 purist so it's too modern for me

Do we have a thread for "Most on its side car for sale"?

Would it be any worse than the vertical sideways-mounted rad that many A-serieses were equipped with?  I assume it has an electric fan underneath to lend a helping hand.

I've been wondering for a while Billy - how do you come up with these random anagrams?  Do you put every vehicle name into an anagram generator to see if it comes up with something amusing, or do you have some kind of weird anagram-spotting brain?

No, I just get bored easily  (like you didn't know) and if anything looks like it'll spell 'minge' in the title, then it's game on.

Jonny Smith is in the process of wedging a V6 out of an 827 into one.

I've driven and owned A series cars, and VW 1.4 engined cars, and you know what, the A series is in every way a better engine than that shit-awful VW thing.

I like the idea of an engine swap, but all that work just to make an Allegro worse than before you started?

**And those LED headlights look shit. So do the wheels. And the WobSopon body kit.

I suppose it's a minor detail, but wouldn't you need bespoke driveshafts to mate the VW gearbox to the Allegro hubs?  TBF the ad does mention "not connected up....."

The moment you doubt whether you can fly......is the moment you paint a sea horse on your Rover Streetwise bonnet?

Not a minor detail at all, a major and expensive bit of engineering.

Before you can get someone to weld-up* your two ends of previously unrelated drive shaft, you have to work out EXACTLY how long the finished assembly has to be which is not a trivial task.

**Precision, max-strength welding too,  in some sort of rotary jig.

Anyway, here is that massive estate you wanted. 4.2 straight six* and live-axle.
