Why am I looking at Aussie Gumtree?  Mrs Asimo is  soon in Victoria for a month and owes me a test-drive or two.............

My favourite pickup of ever.

Is it?            s-l803.jpg.86d4b39f5f5d5efe7754f24955b63fd1.jpg

Yes it is !!!  s-l804.jpg.b4823af3790ee079b3fe1baa90301900.jpg

Just two cylinders short of perfect.       There are worse ways to blow £5k.          https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/leeming/cars-vans-utes/austin-1800-ute/1234222505

Clean but boggo Maestro with 17k miles and a 99p start.

Those folded metal bumpers were seriously grim by 1992.  AR were really rubbing your nose in your refusal to spec up to an LX or an R8.

The tailgate panel fit is a sight to behold as well - look at the gap by the o/s tail light, it’s about half an inch proud of the quarter panel.

Oh I say.

OK it’s not a V6, but the twin spark is still a lovely engine and JUST LOOK AT IT.

£3,250 doesn’t seem outrageous at all for something that is this cool yet shite at the same time.

Umm, well, yes, you could stretch it that way I suppose.

But I’m not completely convinced anyone will pay £25k for it.  Especially when that vastly better Monterverdi conversion has just been re-listed after no bids at a sixth of that price.

Roland Garros, the discerning shiter’s tennis player of choice. (Alizé Cornet doesn’t count, that’s a different kind of discernment.)

Have they used doors from a three door? It looks unhappy.

Hey @eddyramrod, there’s a dodgy looking bloke in reception says he’s got something with your name on it.

He says it wants signing for and there’s a bit to pay though.

@Yoss, Skoda_Fan is selling his L&K Felly...

I went to look at this earlier in the year. It's a very nice car but on the way to see it I started having guilt pangs about my own Felly. Basically because of the laquer peel I probably wouldn't get more than a couple of hundred for it which means I reckon it would be dead within two years. It would be worth more to me in spares but the more I thought about scrapping it that the worse I felt.

So whilst the L&K is the ultimate Felicia I think I'm stuck with mine. Which is no bad thing, it's an SLXi which is top of the range of the face-lift cars so is like an L&K without the leather (but has velour which is better for everyday use).

Even Lady Di wouldn’t be seen dead in that.

Too soon?

That CF with the slidey doors is fantastic. Be like 1980's fatha_Bo11ox by using it to deliver meat around the fens, bombing along with your door permanently open and loads of packets of Paxo stuffing and Atora suet wedged in the dash.

If you achieve that and wish to go to the next level, absent mindedly remove the broken-off ignition key while driving to and use it to clean your lughole out, causing the friggin steering to lock up at 40-odd mph (warning: if done correctly you will shit yourself big time)

Hi all!

I've not adorned this thread with any tasty NZ morsels in quite a while as I've been too busy to post, or to even follow this thread, tbh. That said, I've found something very interesting indeed - A volvo 360 for £2000!

What's so interesting in a 360 with such a fulsome price, I hear you ask? Well for starters, it's got these funny rear number plate lights, necessitating the number plate to be chopped down to fit between them. Odd. Someone's also boshed in a high level brake light, too. Hmm, curious.

1139291274.jpg

Then round the front, there's extra indicator stuck to the wing. Interesting.

The last bit got my spidey shite senses tingling, so I carjam'ed the plate and it turns out I was right - this is a Japanese market Volvo 360! And one that's in bloody lovely nick too, by the looks of things. Imported to NZ in 1994, should anyone be interested.

My first CF had a broken-off key in the ignition!  I used to start it with a stubby screwdriver, which I then had to put in my pocket while I drove.  It also had no handle on the driver's door, meaning that to lock or unlock it I had to reach a finger in and pull the locking rod up or down.  To release the catch I then had to push the paddle just as the door button would.  I even replaced the driver's door!  And took the handle off, because I didn't have a key for the "new" door.

I can't figure out how to do links on the phone so have some screenshots.

I found my car for sale in CZ.

Screenshot_20191224_074114_com.android.chrome.thumb.jpg.158a1b1cdae148542ce3af091ebf1e03.jpg

That's roughly £2k.

I always thought mine was bright but look at this.

And this seems to be some sort of snazzy rev counter (this being a base it has a big clock where the rev counter usually goes).

Love the door capping with diagonal slashes. Mine are just plain. Want. Screenshot_20191224_074707_com.android.chrome.thumb.jpg.78ad68f1b739964cd6893be25144e4c1.jpg

Then there's this sunroof. You could hypnotise people with that. Certainly worked on me.

Screenshot_20191224_073818_com.android.chrome.thumb.jpg.5279085c7769ab46d74429aff2ce7b25.jpg

Bit toppy at £4k though.

EDIT: poor maths, it's actually about £2k. About 30Kc to the £ last time I looked. That seems quite reasonable actually.
