Phew this is a rare car that (hopefully) will find some love. Packard and their Clipper brand are not run-of-the-mill US 50's cars. They were very well-made and at the time on a par (if not better than) Cadillac. This has their new for 56 5.7 litre V8 so they go very well. A great car fallen on hard times. Our US friends at Curbsideclassic have more information on these kings of the road.

Packard ceased to exist after 56 and became badge engineered Studebakers before disappearing completely  in 58. Certainly it does not want "ratrodding" - gently brought back to life it will last another 70 years. They have a keen following in the US - the club is very active and spare parts available. Rock Autos in the US have quite a few parts off the shelf like brake pads etc.

 

This promotional film shows the new engine. Sounds a bit crackly.

Yeah, but now it's in the UK, so it'll be ruined in the shortest possible time.

See it flat black including the chrome trim, slamt with stupid wheels and Mexican blankets on the seats at your next show.

Or some daft dolt will cut the roof off. Or start a pickup conversion.

Those Packards may well be good, but they're SO UGRY! So don't really care what happens. But, ya know, I'm a Studebaker guy, so...

This is the recreation of 6r4 rally Supercar.


The fuck it is.

 

Won every thing that was available.

 
They won fuck all. In fact they were a fucking failure.

 

 

This car is start life as a 1.0 litre Mini maestro studio package which was already a collector piece.

 

Sadly it fucking ended it as one, too.

 

 

 

It was then in the process of transformation when I bought it.

 

You mean it was already fucked.

 

 

 

It has a full 6r4 bodykit complete with even the snow plowed.

 

A tad less snow sniffing would go a long way.

 

 

 

It could do with a roll cage and some wider wheels.

 

It could do with being bridged.
