mot exempt init, roll that as is....

This is great. Am in puzzlement as to why the vendor felt the need to snap a pic of it with the camera fully inserted though?

So both cars 2 or 3 generations of vehicle newer than the Montego, hardly a fair comparison - compare it to a diesel sierra or maybe 405, not so bad

Hardly 2-3 generations. The Montego in question was L reg, the Mondeo M and Laguna R ( both mk1).

Kind of different I’d say, montego diesel started in 89.  When did they start making the mondeo, 3 or 4 years later and Laguna later than that. They also built decent TD engines for those, not nick a Perkins prima boat engine like they did to power the montego. My point being, it’s an agricultural car and was originally designed in about 1983, it just got the Diesel engines late in its life.
I don’t disagree with you, theLaguna and Mondeo were superior.

For the love of God. I'm trying to sell a load of bits and generally downsize and sort my life out. This.... This does not help.

How bad could it be?

You buy it at scrap value so not bad at all.

Rather miserable looking Astra F. Vauxhall used to get a decent amount of power from their engines at this time. This one has 69 bhp from a 1.6 litre injection engine. It is an "E Drive" engine though.

Astra 1.6 Expression E-Drive

Miserable? That's as sexy AF.

Good point. The carb 1.6 used to claim 90bhp. I wonder if this is a single point injection mingebag spec engine for a 'price point' trim?

Quite likely. My parents used to own a 1994 "California" limited edition with the 1.4 Hi Torq engine. 60 bhp. Perhaps this 1.6 E Drive was the replacement for that unit.

Debateable.  The 1.8 TD in the Mondeo was hardly the stuff dreams were made of, and the Mk1 Laguna didn't get a turbo diesel until later in its production run - the early cars got a NA 2.2 16v diesel which was pretty hopeless.  Out of the three I'd take the Prima in the Montego to be honest.

Good call, I hadn’t realised the others were not quite as good as I thought.
In that case Montego please 👍
