My sister's first car was one of these. Same spec, registration letter, colour and even the lack of head restraints. This one's up for £3,500. Would look nicer with some Ghia spec chrome hubcaps and rim embellishers if any can be found.

Escrot 1.3 GL

My Dad had exact same spec and colour (I think, unless there was an orangier orange). Although I felt the need to persue MG Maestro ownership in his memory, I don't feel a strong pull to this/these even though I'm somewhat Ford-friendly.

I think it was called Sun Burst Red. I had one of the first Orions in that colour.

I quite like the wheels which are exclusive to the GL. W plate mk3s must be mega rare by now I reckon- there weren't masses of them when new.

The car looks a bit grotty around the edges - it'll need some tlc fairly soon to keep it looking tidy I'd have thought. It'll be interesting to see if it sells for £3.5k.

Terracotta otherwise known as plant pot red.

A very early MK3 too.

I’m colour blind so telling the difference between very similar shades of red is impossible. I do know it’s not Rosso Red. My Orion was A reg , so about 3 years newer than that car. Ford didn’t often keep the same colours for very long.
Well, they actually changed them a little and called it a new name.

I thought they looked realy cool when I was 15, especially in the metallic blue

The disc brake on the later model was horrendous. The drum brake on this must be so much worse. Not to worry though, reliability meant you wouldn't be riding it much.

Agree that this one looks cool though.

I bet those brakes were better than the drums my Fantic GT had at trying to stop a 12 stone 16 year old from 50mph. I bent the rear brake arm trying to stop a few times they were that bad. As for the front, the only time that locked up was in the wet or snow.

I wonder if it was inspired by this

Ami on SIKRIMZYO Chelmsford, currently £860 no reserve. Needs a tickle with the sparkly stick, but doesn't sound too bad.

So they decided that the most important thing to do to the poor car was to fit silly alloy wheels go it before any engine of body work?
