1 years MOT diesel JEEP. Doesn't look bad for the money.

I bought one of those new in 2000. Had it 3 years and 25000 miles and it was falling to bits. Had to have paintwork done under warranty (rust forming on the roof!) Wife refused to drive it because the brakes were so bad. The VM? diesel was to put it politely, agricultural, although performance wasn’t bad considering it only had 112bhp. Mpg was about average for type at  the time but would be considered woeful now.

Only car I’ve ever had that failed it’s first (3 year old) MOT.Luckily I’d submitted it at a Jeep dealer a week before the warranty was up. They weren’t that happy to see the dates.

Anyway , can’t imagine what state a 25 year old one could be in.

No idea.  I was getting diesel at a favourable price , so didn’t look into it. I believe Landrover used the same engine for some time , so that might help.

Looking at the MOT history it’s had its sills and rear spring mounts repaired on every other MOT since 2010ish there’s also the issue of the May and Schofield immobiliser that will fail at some point which will probably scrap the car

Shows how much of a bargain the ex HMC/SCHAEFFT one was.

Am I an idiot for being intrigued by this?😂 If mine was this color combo I would have never sold it. So this has that going for it.

Worth giving them a call. It’s a well known specialist.

I know, it's Chevronics. Which is surprising considering they sold the Silver XM with just a few more miles but in vastly better condition for exactly the same money. I'm not sure if 7k less miles and a better color combo justify that, especially at this time of the year. This should be several hundred quid cheaper really.

@inconsistant has one or two, I think

I’ve just got the one (thread link in sig) but I believe the correct number to own is one more than you currently have so I’m always keeping an eye out for them.

I get the feeling that American Automotive companies have been shit for a very long time.  Complacent is probably the word.
