Jag alert in Southam, @Cluffy

1998 XJR in need of recommissioning. £3450

I am more taken by this in the advert: Any inspection welcome, we have a dry workshop and jacks and inspection lamps available.

Can I leave the Jag and just have the dry workshop and inspection lamps please?

Really wanting an LPG converted XJ to replace the corolla when I move it on. But have been given a very strong telling off by the Mrs in advance that she will NOT be allowing it (she is the main one to drive the car as I have a work van).....anyone got any tips on how I can get this one past her? (Also interested in seeing if they will do a deal to include the workshop and inspection lamps!)

A really half-arsed internet search suggests these will do 50mph. So about half the speed of anyone who had an FS1E or AP50 back in the day told you theirs did.

I had a couple of F(r)antics in 1980. Faster than those FS1E things, but the AP50s were a bit quicker.

I do quite fancy ticking one of these orf the list

me too, I wouldn't be embarrassed to drive one, but I would be annoyed finding it tipped on its side every Friday night.

They’re massive fun, I have memories of absolutely flying down the a3 in my old one, and definitely hitting corners a bit too quickly, I never rolled it though I’m proud to say

Last taxed in 1981. Well,  not this one, but the one the id came from for the ring-a-ding-dinger.

Selling for his uncle* too. WCPGW?

I rather fancy the Moggy behind it ..... I was wondering if the MG is like a lot of the 'tax exempt' Defenders that are rolling around on the V5 for a Ser 2a?

Why bother with the ring a ding ding as it'll  be tax exempt anyway.

I'm guessing the original shell consisted of rust flakes and a vin plate.

It was probably given the fake ID some time between 2007 and 2012 before rolling tax exemption was resumed. I cannot understand doing it on something so obviously wrong but there are many cars around like this, there was a mk3 Cortina estate on eBay recently clearly a 1976 model with a 1972 log book! I would not pay more than a few hundred for these type of cars as I would be expecting a pull from plod as it is really obvious they are ringers.
