If you know a dick head who has a driveway outside his house but insists on parking in the road taking a valuable space in a limited parking area, how would you make sure they stopped being a dick head ? As far as I know insurance isn't valid if you don't park on the drive when at home.. He's one of them modern Mercedes drivers that is all cocky and you can't talk to him..

Not that I'm condoning such actions - but can't you use his driveway….. there's fuck all he can do about it. obviously if it were any of us - various 'loose' roof tiles would be present in short shrift. But as far as the latest internet furore was - there is literally nothing the property owner can do other than block you in. But if it's not a car in use - at least it's safely* parked!

Of course - it'll cause all out parking war - but you don't seem that enamoured of him anyway. what's his wife/gf like? - Asking for a friend like...……. :-D

Edit - just to clarify - I wouldn't actually go that far - it depends on how pissed off you get I suppose.

He's not even allowed to do that any more - that counts as "denying access to the public highway".  An unintended consequence of the law banning clamping on private land.

Sad demise of Maplin? They just lacked a gun, mask and a stripped shirt.

Anyway just get your friend a 555 timer and look up a courtesy light delay circuit.

Aye. I don't see how their business failed really, its a good model to sell 54p worth of components for £3.99

It is until everyone realises you can get it from China for 54p delivered.

If so, how would I go about getting it diagnosed given that the 4T60-E was (to the best of my knowledge) never used in any UK market car?

Look at the solenoids for broken wires / open circuit?  Alternatively, all autos work on the same principles, surely a competent auto box specialist used to GM-400s in Jags and such could work out what's up with it without too much of  tigerbumming on price?

Hi shitters,

How long can you run with HGF?

Is there any other reason why there's mayonnaise under the filler cap? - i cleaned out a load yesterday and it's back this morning.

Detail:

Seat Altea 1.6 pez shit heap

Spat out it's temperature sender 5 miles from home with plumes of steam escaping from bonnet.

Wife drove it home the 5 miles as the "steam subsided at motorway speeds"

New temp sender, o ring and clip fitted and topped up coolant.

Finally, there's no fucking way I'm paying for this to be put right and I'm not popping my HG cherry on this. When it dies it's getting squashed.

Thanks all!

Try K seal if you don't care about the car. It may work.

Steel Seal is better on head gaskets. K seal isn’t a bad shout though, used it loads of times no problems. Good stuff.

Awesome, I should do an oil change too and monitor for mayonnaise levels to determine whether it's fixed the issue?

Have any Volvo owners used the online dash instrument repair people with success?

Various ones seem to be out there to fix the 940's dash but if anyone has a recommendation that would be good.

Why bother with any of that? I just leave it running and go in for a cuppa.

I went out at 22:30 last night and scraped the ice off all the glass and left the engine running with the blower on the screen, recirculation on and rear screen & mirror heaters on so it would be warm and clear for son to take to work for 23:00.

Just got grumps from him and a "Why did you bother with that" :(

It has chevrons on the front and rear that ward off potential thieves.

Close to Sunderland admittedly.

I used to just bung an r/c network in to delay the courtesy lights.

Made a bit of a mistake wiring it in to one of the Imps and it all melted to slag with attendant magic smoke release.

No, save your money, wipe the cap off and hope for the best then stick the Steel Seal in the expansion tank. Have you checked the gaskets definitely gone?

Not sure really, the emulsion under the filler cap is the only symptom. The cars not obviously got white smoke out of the zorst and doesn't appear to be pressuring the coolant. As it was run for some time without coolant I'm guessing a cracked head is more likely than HGF? The expansion bottle looks to be free of any oil too.

Can anyone recommend a good place to get a Focus instrument cluster repaired? Somewhere that knows what they’re doing not someone in their bedroom with a soldering iron?

The fact it spat the steam out is suspect.

Personally clean off gunk under cap - k seal and ignore.

Could it just be condensation due to short trips.

Lad I worked with had a Bora that was always full of crud during cold weather, he only drove about ten miles a day spit into two trips.

A decent run (about 50 miles round trip) cleared it all out.

Does Cobblers do similar for a living?

Yes this is a possibility. It's been the school run bus for the last couple of days. The missus gives it a 30mile run Monday through Wednesday so will keep an eye on then.

On the Ebay Tat thread a few days ago Barret asked what the greyish car in the shed in the background might be.

Any ideas?

This one. Probably better zooming in to the original pic. No other relevant pics in the Ebay listing.
