Pillock, auto + good mpg = Merc c220cdi.

Can't you can get weekly or monthly season tickets for the train?

Posted

Yeah, this is not the first time a 220CDI has come up in conversation. May be something in it....

I could get shorter term tickets, but due to the awesome way our rail network is managed it means I have to be on a train at 5.35am after driving for an hour to get there because every local station is now shut. The most local, most frequent trains to me are on the Great Central Railway and are steam hauled.

Can anyone point me in the direction of that old car trader game that was on an emulator download of some sort please? Tried searching but no joy!

Sounds like there's still some air in the system.

I thought so. I had them bleed the system and it's better but still not great if I'm honest.

Could a tired old calliper on one side a reconditioned one on the other cause anything weird to happen?

Posted

I can't see why :?: Does it have new pads with the new calliper? Maybe they need to bed-in. More likely there's still air in the system. Are they using a gizmo to bleed it or doing it the old-fashioned way?

Has one of the master cylinder seals flipped when pushing a piston back? A couple of people on here have fallen foul of that recently.

You're looking for New Wheels John on a ZX Spectrum emulator.

Thanks sir. Much appreciated. Wanted a boredom killer last night!

One for the other people with PJ/FJ multi-car classic/modern policies ... Does anyone know if vans can be added to these policies or not?

I have a feeling the blue Mondeo may be suffering from the effects of a clogged EGR valve.  Wynn's appear to sell an EGR valve cleaner, in the form of an aerosol that one sprays into the air intake with the engine running (after removing the filter obvs).

My question is twofold: 1) does this type of thing work, or is it just snake oil (it's a tenner for a tin so don't really want to fork out if it's rubbish)?  2) if it does work, does it work any better than a cheap can of carb / intake cleaner would?

Posted

Just strip and clean the egr. The tins of shite never work and you will waste a tenner.

Just had a look at the 'brand new' spare on the 205.  When removed from it's cradle, the sidewalls have dents where the cradle has been overtightened. Is it now scrap?

Thinking about getting a set of wheels to put winter tyres on my mk2 Kia Rio but I've got no idea about PCD and all that, does anyone know what I should be looking for?

I've already got steels so could take the summer tyres off but presumably keep taking them off/putting them on isn't great for the tyre (or does it not matter)?

That says 4x100pcd with a cb of 54.1mm ... so loads of options but you might need spigot rings with some.

Taking tyres on and off a couple of times is fine. To get them swapped cheaply try your local part worn tyre places, they're usually happier to do it and cheaper than kwik-fit type places. My local place charge me a fiver a wheel to change tyres and balance them.

Oh and if you haven't already found your winter tyres check out my https://www.tyreleader.co.uk/and http://www.mytyres.co.uk/.

Personally I'm a fan of all season tyres, good in winter and just leave them on ... flog your old tyres on ebay if they're any good, or offer them as payment to the part worn place for fitting the new tyres ;)

Cheers both. Tyreleader have got loads of suitable tyres for under £30 a pop delivered so £120 ish for 4 sounds OK. I've got a right mismatch of Primewell and some other cheapy make that I think were part worns put on by a previous owner, at least one of them still has yellow writing on the side to make me look like a right cheapskate. I had expected having to replace them straight away because the budgets my Panda had on were horrendous in the rain, but I've driven in a few downpours and they actually seem pretty good. I just stuck with Uniroyal Rainexpert summer tyres last year and had no bother but I've heard it's going to be a nasty one this year.

Are these smaller jump packs any good?

My big one has given up the ghost and I need to replace it. These seem almost too good to be true.

The guy I rent my garage off has one and say's it's brilliant. You can only charge his off USB so takes a while to get full charged. He walked up the street with this in his pocket to a Fiesta he was picking up that had been sat flat for 6 months. Lots of lols when he pulled this out to jump it but it did it no bother. I think his was about 100 quid though.

I thought they where just a gimmick until a friend let me test his starting the blingo diesel, the battery wouldn't even light up the ignition lights yet this hard drive lookalike started it not once but three times in a row, I still find it hard to believe now.

I have a standard jump pack, but its crap. I normally use a battery and some jump leads. The spare (jump) battery could even be swapped for the faulty one in the car. I now wonder why I bough the damn jump pack in the first place.

Me too. I know forums where just discussing why someone got banned gets you a ban but I'm sure this isn't one of them.
