How suitable are 106s for large men? I have driven one before and remember the offset pedals but I think I got used to it.

TUD w/Bosch pump yes pls.

I'm 188cm and 90kg and often ran a 106 1.5D the long way 1000km to Portugal and back with odd cement mixer/moped in the backseat.  May have a spare Bosch injector pump hidden away if needed.

Long term thinking here, but would I be refused a PSV licence for having Asperger's?

Only if your doctor has said it would affect your ability to drive - which would probably already affect your ability to drive a car

Replaced the handbrake cables on the Burd's Clio 172.

Got a pair 3334/3335 as required. Lh one is spot on, fitted and locking up after 4 clicks.

The drivers side one is long ( it appears )and is not actuating the lever on the caliper.

These are the same cables as fitted to my 172 so known to be correct.

The handbrake end is just a single bracket with the adjuster (13mm nut/threaded bar) through the middle.

It sits squint, as left one is tensioned whilst right one is still loose. They're all seated and connected correctly.

Any suggestions what could be causing the problem beyond the obvious (caliper stuck or cable too long)?

Why would they? I think they'd have a hard time arguing a refusal. Especially with the Disabilities Discrimination Act.

I have a PCV, in fact I just passed my 5 year medical today so no, it isn't an issue.

Additional BX questions: Are glass sunroofs rare? Are they a factory fit item?

Had four bx's all post 1990 and all had glass tilt and slide roofs. Only had one that had aircon though.

Borderline belongs in the modern forum but didn't want to create a new thread.

Potential fleet changes are afoot, the Rover 216 is staying put. However, my girlfriend hates the canal barge 407 to drive, it's expensive for her to be insured on, coupled with the higher tax band and it's so-so economy over the large mileages it covers. I also have a friend potentially interested in an easy sale for the 407 and it would help him out.

Budget would be circa £2000, but less the better. Must be diseasel, small and the more economical the better. This is essentially a white good purchase, dependable and efficient conveyance.

Personally, I'd go for an AX or 106 for sub £500 but not sure that will cut it with she who must not be upset.

Just started thinking about it, but looking for recommendations, I don't know what modernish small diesels are good and which are to be avoided, couple of quick spots are the 1.3 CDTI Corsas, Kia Rio 1.5 CRDI and various Renner associated lumps with the 1.5 derv engine. Would appreciate AS input.

I'm quite into my hypermiling, so in a perverted way I don't mind the thought of downsizing.

EDIT - Skoda Roomster, wow-wee, what a shitbox. They seem so ugly and undesirable that values are lower than those of the Fabia.

MY WIFE Will not allow me to:.......

will get to that in a bit.

So who remembers the R reg Corsa 1.2 with mega low miles that my nephew (and son of MikeR) bought from Accrington.  Found on AS

Well, it was only a stop gap and he ended up getting a mk1 focus.

So it's just sitting there and we probably should have a Roffle.

But that's not what I'm not allowed to organise.

Oh no.

I may have mentioned in passing my wife's friend of 40 plus years, who is a bit like  modern Hyacinth (Plah) Bucket  (Pronounced BOOOOKHEY)

Well said woman had a job as an accountant (although some might say glorified book keeper) and procured a Mk3 Bini on Finance using a mk1 Bini CooperS as the deposit.

Anyway the firm she worked for is an unsavoury scouse "property" developer, with fingers in lots of legitimate pies.

Where he got his initial cash is anyone's guess, but I wouldn't want to meet him on a Summer Sunday in a Church let alone do business with him.

Anyway wife's friend had a falling out over something and walked out after 12 years working for him.

He obviously refused to give her a reference, so she contacted his main Chartered accountant who she's dealt with on a monthly basis for 12 years, and asked whether he would vouch for her.

The VERY next night the BINI was on fire and destroyed.  Fire Service say Arson.

Strange coincidence.

Anyway that was a couple of months ago and she's got a job, but her insurance has just paid out £300 which isn't enough for a deposit to get finance on another BINI. so she's using Pubic Trainspot whilst she saves up.

Now how much did David pay for the Corsa again ? It's sitting waiting for a loving home.

According to my wife :  I'm not allowed to suggest she a) rents it for £15 a week for 20 Weeks and it's all hers or B) Buys it for £300.

I have her phone number. I could probably find a photo on here if I could be arsed, I could text her a picture to entice her in. Would my wife kill me? Maybe I should give Dave the number ?

I thought the Corsa had sold, UltraWomble (I think) was interested.

I would not get involved with it if I were you and going from a MINI I doubt the Corsa holds much appeal for her but better than the bus!

I'd personally and totally, genuinely honestly rather catch the bus than drive/own a Corsa B. I hate the krusty, shitty heaps of junk. A Clio mk1 however...

Interestingly enough when this was for sale in Early 2015 we viewed it and thought it would be a decent buy to let.

The agent tried VERY hard to persuade us to buy something else.  The person that bought it:

I'd love to see her face.

I'd actually like to take it around to her house unannounced and put a big ribbon on it and present it to her, but my wife once gave her a car back in 1992 and rather than giving me first refusal, she scrapped it - a T reg 850 Mini - Because it failed the MOT on brakes. So I ain't giving her another car.

Is there a way to beat number plate obscufation on auto trader?

Ring up and ask for the number so you can "do a HPI check M8"

it was registered  just  solely on the  military scheme ,  and sounds like thedying days of  them getting new plates of discharge .

i had an 04 corsa C  which was  ex white fleet ,  it was given a new but  date fo  build/ first use  related plate  when struck from the military  register, but  i suspect it carried a  different ghost civilian VRN for most of it;s life rather than  it;s military  format registration ( as generally  it;s only  staff cars  that  display them  in the UK ,  even  military police and securitypatrol vehicles   run around on ghost  civilian plates  now ...

What is a 'ghost' registration?

Probably just means they look like any other civilian car to blend in.

It's like how BFG plates were black on white, German font, and all ended in B. Stick out like a sore thumb!

My dad was at Rheindahlen for a while with the air force, wonder if he ever had a car over there.

Anyway, my question. Did they ever make an MG ZT in 4x4 flavour?

What is a cant rail?

It's the bit between a car's doors and the roof panel. The gutters are attached to the bottom of it on older car's.

Edit:the post is up for 6 hours then two answers in three minutes.

Shows what I know.

I think you probably know more than him.

The only reference I can find to any 4X4 ZTs or 75s are a couple of prototypes on Freelander oily bits. And the only way that would have an Eco mode is when the prop has been removed.

Just weird that he's made a point of saying how well it works.
