Anglia Classic Car Auction

I'd very much like to own the Simca 1000 coupé but as usual I have no money. Can't think of anything I can sell in time, unless my phantom 404 buyer actually turns up with some cash. Bugger.

Who’s going? I’ve never actually been and am trying to fill the diary with lots of fun so January flies by.

I'm going to try and make it, hopefully be able to talk @skattrd into coming along as well.

Possibly maybe, but unlike @RobT I cannot commit to not having a lie in like a beached whale.

I'm probably not going to make it even though I took the day off for it.

Stuff happens.

Twas a good (if cold) day out, with the usual selection of overpriced tat and overpriced non-tat on offer.  £8-10K for a Series 3 Minx anyone?

Caught up with RobT and had a steer of his V6 Laguna which is lovely.

There was relatively little of what you'd call chod this time - apart from the early FSO there was a tidy automatic MK1 Renault 5 and this  Capri, which was practically perfect in every way.

Another high point, although probably not chod any more, was this Series 1 XJ6 - manual overdrive, chrome wires, and Harvest Gold!!!

Parked up on the road near the auction house were not one but two Ferrari FFs.  I'd never seen one in the metal before - they're not what I'd describe as a classic beauty, but interesting to see nonetheless.

Got home an hour ago.  Need to hug a radiator now, as it was indeed a tad chilly.

Wuv in the back of a plod LDV Maxus that went through at £3k.  A film company were selling this off, together with a Corsa and Mondeo.

Clio auto went for £1,100...proof that few, if any, bargains were to be had.  Although a Fiat Coupe 20v ended at £750, albeit sans MoT.

The Capri 1.3 Cameo was pretty much perfect.

Bran find yank had a cock and balls drawn on the very dusty bonnet.  I think wuv took a pic of the artwork.

That was being bandied around for ten grand for a while after its owner died. No takers, so someone may get a bargain at auction if they aren't too concerned about originality.

Black's a terrible colour for heat absorption in hot weather,  though.

I did indeed.  We did briefly wonder whether Partridge had decided to have a day out.

This means I've had that Renault 16 for exactly one year to the day!

Any idea what the Simca made?

Didn't see it go through, soz - it was rather scruffier in the metal than it looked in the pictures though.  Still a nice looking thing mind.

A fair comment on the 'leaving the dust on' bran find cars IMHO. It might be appropriate  for a vintage car like a Bugatti unearthed from a chateau cellar after 60 years - where the conservation of the paint would be an important issue and need time - but on car of this era why not just wash it...the weird world of car sales eh?

Anyway the wag there got it right.

This is still going ahead according to their website.

What do we think?

Bargains to be had or foolish to go anywhere near?

In normal times it gets pretty packed although the CO is as likely to kill you in that hall as the corona virus.

I can't see this going ahead, unless they do online bidding ... Do they?

If it does go ahead as an online auction I'd expect there to be some bargains as I reckon a lot of people that go in person don;t do the online thing, hence the high prices for some stuff.

They're talking about making additional provisions for online and telephone bidding.

If it does go ahead "live" I will certainly be going along.  I'll probably watch proceedings online if that's the way it goes too.
