I done a search for Ilford here and nothing came up. So here is an image of Ilford High Road taken in 1984.

The poor little blue car is either parked at the bus stop (which I doubt) or it was trying to merge. Reg. plate unreadable.

68 and still looks tighter than a drum. She turned up in Hollyoaks a couple of years ago - still got a “phwoar”

Whilst in principle I agree with you, I can't help thinking that she'd look better with my cock in her mouth.

nice not a shot I have seen before indeed :) nice and high rez too, I like it when you get a general street scene like this thats been scanned in well like that, lets you zoom in on all the details!

although not quite far enough for the Model 70 sadly! the Model 70 could well of been parked at the bus stop, or even on the pavement, Invalid vehicles where generally given a free pass on such shenanigans

I mean they did still have to comply with the RTA and highway code and all that, but back then people understood they a disabled persons mobility, so no one blinked twice at one being driven/parked somewhere normally only pedestrians would go

(blocking a London Transport bus stop might get some Ire tho!)

I grew up in Ilford and that was the principle bus stop for the High Road , heading West. It was very busy.

It would be busy. I think parking there would have been very irritating to passengers and drivers of buses and other cars. I never recall seeing any Invalid carriage  ever parking along the High Road.

could of also been parked on the pavement, somewhere I have/know of a picture of a Model 70 parked next to a shop on a wide high street pavement much like the above, but its currently eluding me, so you will have to make do with this Invacar Mk12 example instead :)

Great work.   It's all part of a fine adventure.

What was the car Dunc had issues with?

That's excellent to hear. Despite the haters, the reactions above after only ten minutes suggest there's a decent number of us on here who are genuinely pleased that Dez's project is steadily heading towards the finish line.

Kudos to you for taking the reins after the previous good work.

God there is some good people on here. My day job is support with disabilities and the rule book gets bent. What Nick and his tame mechanic are doing has brought tears in my eyes. Aye dez is a good bloke, aye he does mention invacars now and again. But duck me, what a top crew this forum is. Respect

What a life REV has had...

Well done, good man (men).

A great outcome. Hopefully you can persuade Dunc to photograph and document his efforts so we can enjoy vicariously.

Though I think I've probably seen more of the innards of Invacars between AS and Hubnut than I've seen of my own cars!

its very awesome to see REV on the move once more! closer to that light at the end of the tunnel! and very awesome to see she is "home" safe and sound :) I am really looking forward to seeing how things progress, I should have NOS Kingpins in before not too long now, and I will of course get 1 or 2 forwarded up to you ASAP :)

I of course give many thanks and gratitude to first of all of course, @red5 for all the work he has done on REV over the past couple years, doing a not inconsiderable amount of work to help REV towards roadworthiness, hopefully this means for @Saabnut and Duncan, it will be an easy job carrying it across the finish line as they say!

and I am sure Red5 is glad to see the back of REV at long last!

and of course, I give many thanks to @Saabnut, that despite the reputation and all that sort of thing that, surrounds REV, for for being up for taking the fluorescent batten on from Red5, I did give Nick, plenty of opportunity to opt out, but he still insisted on REV on, even after I am sure all the Christmas alcohol had worn off! for that I am forever grateful!

onwards and upwards as they say, and hopefully before not too long ill finally be able to hit the means streets of London in REV properly :)

Has the kingpin repair kit turned up yet? Interested to see how it works out.

it has now! :) I got 3 of the kits, I mean REV has just the one kingpin, but just to be safe!

IMG_5084.thumb.jpeg.a1fe1e5b429d84410bba2987677682f4.jpeg

looks like theres 2 bagged examples, 1 un-bagged example, which I notice has a bit of surface rust on some of the kingpin itself and the 2 shells, I dont know if thats fatal or not

but I still have the 2 bagged examples which look pretty clean to my eye :)

for what its worth I noticed the 2 circular, shells(?) are stamped "FGT 10DU12" with the "G" being in a square box

I dont know if that means anything to anyone, but I thought i'd mention it (googling 10DU12 curiously does bring up similar looking parts)

As you say googling suggests their are alternately called bearings, spacers and bushes!

Edit:

Bushing bearings, also known as dry bearings or DU bearings, belong to a Bushing series, and are a type of sliding bearing known for their excellent self-lubricating properties.

I'd keep the rusty one for future reproduction, maybe wipe it in wd40 and bag it. Would probably clean up OK anyway as is. But treat rev to the best sealed minty nos parts you have!

I fired many genuine 60+ year old spares at this the other month and it came out very well, and was satisfying to do! Stuff thats been sitting for decades finally used

I am going to need my plant trailer over the weekend, so REV was taken the final 15 miles of its journey north, Soon unloaded and Dunc was soon scaring himself!

Coneyhatch, where Duncan has his workshop, is the local centre for motorsport related businesses and the arrival drew a lot of interest.
