https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/204643754704

just popped up on eBay, but I dont think its Model 70 related, I mean they have 3 fuses, but only 1 of them is inline, where as this bundle of wires has 2 inline fuses, nor do Model 70's have separate looms like this

a Model 70 has one big loom, and the dash loom, and thats it. theres no physically separate engine bay loom or such.

but the "AC Cars Ltd" price tag sticker is curious! its got the proper curvy AC logo n all

Is it Villiers possibly?  The ring terminals look like something to go on a dynastart control box, maybe. l

I did/do wonder but, the blue ring terminal looks suspiciously modern?

I  guess what im wondering here is when where the Red Blue Yellow crimp terminals introduced? I generally have them in my head as a fairly recently introduction, but i have no real basis for that

I did wonder if it might of been a partial loom for the voltage regulator box in a Model 70, but those dont use so many ring terminals

Yes it does look a bit too modern and the coloured crimp terminals are not really "factory."  I think they appeared in the early 70s.

interesting! I wonder if its this chaps Invacar? :)

@Datsuncog you would not happen to have a link to the video or such? i'd like to scope it out for fine details (specifically the fact the MIA fuel tank, I dont see any evidence of a neck or cap, although there is a black smudge next to hole which might be the cap maybe they took it off to inspect inside the fuel tank for some reason?!)

Sorry, haven't ever seen this footage before. I think you have the link now from Warren, though.

It's one of those odd things that until the arrival of YouTube, an awful lot of footage about The Troubles was never shown (or at least, not repeated after appearing on a news bulletin) in Northern Ireland.

'Local sensitivities', fear that people in the footage would be identified and reprisals taken; that sort of thing.

I saw more in-depth, uncensored footage about certain events of The Troubles on TV while I was living in Australia in the mid-2000s than I did growing up just down the road from the same events in the 80s and 90s.

I've looked back over the last 8 or so pages and can't see a mention of this, so I'm daring to post it here...

BWAG!

Oh yeah, Adam let me know about it earlier today :) I appricate the heads up on it tho!

its a machine with a very interesting story behind it, one I have known about, but never seen until now, once I have chased up a few leads ill to try and tie up a couple loose ends on it if I can, ill do a proper write up on it

but for now, as a teaser, look it up on the DVLA and note its date of first registration :)

its one very much worth saving (and knowing its history it should be in very good mechanical condition), just a shame the seller wants so much for it!

absolute bargain on that mileage, and a very easy collection location for you, you’d get a train from Liverpool Street to Colchester to bury st Ed’s then straight drive home, piece of piss

will sell very quick at that price

Maybe it'll get bought and then flipped like the other one you recommended possibly did?

Obviously it's finally broken RED5 despite him having an iron constitution and he's sold it. Alternatively he could have written it off trying to establish its top speed and it's gone to the scrappers. I imagine it'd be pretty unstable at 82mph and if the tyres were old he might have had a blow out.

I hope that he's OK and also your insurance covered him, all the policies I've seen exclude speed trials etc..

Anyway it'd solve your quandary as to whether to buy a Kangoo, Berlingo or whatever.

Not as fun as going to the tyre shop and asking for six of them. They were quite bemused by why anyone would want six tyres for a Mini.

I did think of the hustler, but do they still run 145R10's on those after market wheels?

most I have seen tend to have deep dish wheels with rounded looking tyres like so

image.thumb.png.1d7164f1a12ea1827a7df8a624a09822.png

so thats why I did not mention it :)

Don't know if you've seen this pic before, it cropped up on one of the old Glasgow groups I'm on. Locarno dance hall, Sauchiehall St in Glasgow city centre.

I have indeed seen it before now, but I appreciate the heads up none the less :) its a Tippen Delta Mk2

Oh cool its a Tippen Delta Mk2 :)

image.thumb.png.2a568cdfe79a24c52d8b835367fa48e0.png

which was the last Tippen Delta Mark to have a singular headlamp (after which the Ministry standard specification demanded dual headlamps so the Tippen Delta Mk3 was brought out)

but the Mk2 was the first Invalid vehicle to have the classic light "Ministry blue" colour scheme :)

the high rez original can be found here if your curious

https://www.heraldscotland.com/opinion/18108512.days---locarno-dancehall-1962-1963/

it seems to be one of the photos that does the rounds these days, its kinda curious how certain photos like these constantly get picked up and circulated while others dont

some university/collage student could probably base a social study thesis off it

You could always use an Amstrad emailer or fax machine to contact the DVLA and ask? Don't forget to include a cheque for £23.

No, I'll never stop taking the piss out of the DVLA and their outdated processes and reliance on cheques and postal orders 🤣

yeah it is quite amusing ill give you that, as @wuvvum says the only reason I have a cheque book is because I had to send off a V62, but I do wonder if theres method to the madness :)

(or would that be method to the antiquity in this case? LOL)

see in some regards, im kinda glad its so archaic, I mean imagine if a V62 could be done online with a debit/credit card or paypal

the amount of people would probably fuck around with that would probably increase quite a bit, not to mention any potential bots or such

but by being a physical form you have to fill out and take to the post office plus get a cheque for, it probably helps just by "natural selection" if thats the right phrase? filter out the people who might try and half heartedly apply for the logbook of a Ford Escort Mexico or something such

and also physical stuff leaves a physical audit trail, which I imagine would probably come into play if there was a legal dispute over who had the rights to the keepership of a vehicle

and I do wonder if the DVLA themselves are aware of this, because pretty much every other service can be done online these days

you can tax vehicles online, do keepership changes online, you can even request a duplicate logbook online if and pay the the same V62 £25 fee online, and even change the address on ones logbook online

but you explicitly cannot do a request for a vehicle logbook that is not already in your name, and so I kinda wonder if that is intentional
