Dick Cheeseburger Posted October 27 Posted October 27 Fantastic news Dez. The group effort to get your motor repaired and then returned to you speaks volumes and stands as a reminder that there remain plenty of decent folk on here who are prepared to help others when they're in need. What a superb community this is. Restepc. 😉 Tenmil Socket, privatewire, egg and 7 others 5 5

High Jetter Posted October 27 Posted October 27 1 hour ago, LightBulbFun said: The revenant has returned 5+ years in total, 2 years since the current chapter started, she is finally home and fully working this time! the collection caper was nice and straight forward @st185cs very kindly lent his time and special Invacar trailer do the job and @Snake Charmer very kindly stood ready on alert with his own trailer incase things went Autoshite, but thankfully not FTPing happened. obligatory Woollard-esk shot I even got a chance to take her for a quick drive before she was loaded up on the trailer, and she is vey much improved, much more performant then compared to when I drove her last, and her brakes work good I was able to get her from 0-40-0 very nicely indeed, efficiently and without any drama all that was needed was a tweak of the idle speed as she was idling a bit fast and preventing clean gear-change once the engine had warmed up and the idle had fully smoothed out I am most looking forward to bombing about in her around here, typically its Sunday so nothing is open, but certainly tomorrow I have plans of course many thanks to everyone who has been involved and supportive over the years! I would do a big list tagging everyone but I am quite knackered at the moment, as you can imagine it has been a long day for me, and I would not want to miss anyone out, but I do still want to give thanks so once again many thanks to all who have been supporting me in this mad endeavour over the years this is very much a new frontier for me to suddenly have personal independence like this, where I could right now hop in and bugger off into the middle distance if the fancy took hold, is very much a new thing for me to know that i now that have that option, is litreally something I have dreamed about, and now here I have it, much excitement Wait, you went to MK and rode back with REV? It would explain the radio silence. Am delighted for you, my thanks to the contributers over the years.
brownnova Posted October 27 Posted October 27 Great news! Glad you’ve got it back with you now. Take it easy, and enjoy the ride! LightBulbFun 1
CaptainBoom Posted October 28 Posted October 28 Good work sir. You must be knackered. Power to your elbow and all that. A virtual pat on the back for those that helped as well. This place, etc. The adventures of the last few hundred pages have been humbling to realise just how much I take personal mobility for granted. This is the start of a new chapter for you and I hope that it goes well. I’m not going to give you any sage* advice because I think there’s been enough of that already. Christine Posted October 28 Posted October 28 Poor potato harvest , been so wet ... no chips ! No fishing on Sundays , no fish on a Monday
Dyslexic Viking Posted October 28 Posted October 28 Another one hoping for photos of Rev in front of a chippy, strip club etc.
Popular Post LightBulbFun Posted October 28 Author Popular Post Posted October 28 around 2PM, I set out for my first trip in REV since her return it was a bit wet, but the windscreen wiper works but the battery did not, however the jump pack did its job without a hitch, she was soon started and where underway, arrived at my destination without a hitch soon had the goods in hand, as you can see I elected to go somewhere different, we did the chippy las time so I elected for a different establishemnt, but dont worry there was still chips in the form of a burger and chips (and a chocolate cake slice, mmmm cake) gave her another jump start and we were soon on our way again heading back home again nice and uneventful! only thing of note that I notice is I think her charging system is in-op, ill have a look at that in the coming days, based on how the charging light is acting, I think its the same issue that I encountered when @CaptainBoom kindly helped me remove REV's battery last time it went flat so hopefully like then its just a case of twiddling/cleaning up the charging circuit fuse/fuse holder (I think this time I should be able to rope my brother in to help with the heavy lifting of the battery so I can get that upstairs and on charge, and avoid gassing @CaptainBoom with exhaust fumes like last time!) amusingly I already got my first "Oh wow I have not seen one of those in years" conversation with a member of public in the bag someone who used to ride in the footwell of one a disabled friend had, so that was fun all in all pretty fun! the most nervous part was nothing to do with REV and just me myself making sure I do my road craft properly! at least the visibility in REV is good Yoss, jon.k, st185cs and 66 others 53 16
wuvvum Posted October 28 Posted October 28 Would it be worth buying a solar charger to try and keep the battery topped up? As has been mentioned before, if you're doing lots of local runs, especially in the winter with lights and wiper in operation, the Dynastart might struggle to keep up even when it's working properly. mercedade, Mrs6C, LightBulbFun and 2 others 3 2

Good idea but is there enough sunlight in a UK winter to charge a battery? danthecapriman, LightBulbFun, GrumpiusMaximus and 1 other 1 3
