Put the lamp on then at 4am this morning prior to doing a 160 mile trip the light came on again, pipes duly ordered, I’ll fit them midweek. Out Run
I just used silicone vac line to replace them on my old car. I'd heard tales of the Ford ones being a fortune for what is effectively fuel pipe.
Dave_Q
Can't imagine they will be any different to vac or diesel leak-off pipes.
sierraman
Nah I just ordered some Febi Bilstein ones, £37 delivered. Comes with the clamps and the sheathing, just waiting for it to arrive...

Easily replaceable with almost anything. Ford take the piss and it seems so do Febi Bilstein, albeit to a lesser extent.

A few rust patches developing underneath, minor but I’m going to treat it.

Cord Fourteener
Please someone remind me what size socket i will need to undo the sump plug? I might have to buy the right one, I seem to remember neither me nor my neighbour having the right one. I'm having regen issues, of course now my oil is deteriorated and the car won't regen until it detects good oil, and will continue to pump diesel into the sump. The blue smoke trails are pretty though.

Don't know yet, I'm hoping that it's just lack of long distance driving, though I don't know what that's suddenly become an issue after 9 months. But all the codes are oil deterioration and dpf codes, apart from a pre-existing boost code that's been there for ever.
sierraman
Post 2010 or pre? Post ‘10 it may be the vapouriser that’s blocked. Pre ‘10 then I would check thoroughly the hoses, they are actually quite difficult to check on the car, they can look fine but be burnt through under the sheathing. Then possibly check the DPF pressure sensor with a vacuum tester. If the hoses look anywhere near perished chuck fresh ones on. What code is it throwing up? Its '08, and @mat_the_cat put new hoses on and flushed out the dpf. I'll get the codes again later, but for now what's the vaporiser? I take it it doesn't smoke herbs or kiddie fake tobacco while I'm not looking?
junkyarddog
Oil change time again for my ageing mk4. With the added fun*of a fuel filter change too!🙄 Assume the position. Genuine parts, yeah I could get them cheaper from the factors, but these fit perfectly, I've tried a factor oil filter before but it didn't fit snugly into the housing. Out with the old oil filter. In with the new. Air filter wasn't too dirty, but due a change on mileage. Glug, glug, glug. 5.5 litres of oil is the recommended amount, I've always just put in 5,and it's always up to the full level on the dipstick. That's that done. Fuel filter lurks in here by the rear axle. I clamp off the fuel pipes as close to the connectors of the fuel filter housing as possible. Screw off the bottom housing to reveal the filter. Small bit of crud in there, but no glitter. Washed out and new seal fitted. Old filter, actually not that bad,but it was just about due for replacement on mileage. New one in. End cap screwed back on,and primer bulb attached. Pump pump pump, until you get an exhilarating diesel shower from the outlet. I refit the outlet fuel line at this stage and give it another few pumps of the priming bulb to get diesel into the line. Reattach the inlet connection, and start,if I've done it right it won't stall, but you will see a few air bubbles in the fuel line to the pump. I did and it didn't. Probably the last time I'll be doing the fuel filter on this old girl. It's a crap job to do,but if you're careful it's not too difficult, just the location and lack of self priming is a total ball ache. warren t claim, Cord Fourteener and Popsicle

Cord Fourteener
Right, dropped the diesel-diluted oil, got a new bottle. Hopefully that will shut the computer up about degraded oil so i can get on with clearing all the codes. I'll plug it in and see what codes are there just now... mat_the_cat
Cord Fourteener
Turns out the other two dpf codes haven't come back, only oil deterioration codes. The others are cruise control not working and the boost, which has been there for months and months. It did have one warning about soot build up, unsurprising if it's blowing smoke and not regenerating! It says its done a regen recently. That's surprising if the oil deterioration code is there, isn't it? Anyway, time to stick the new oil in.

I put it down to dirty switches, so may be sorted with a spray of contact cleaner. I appreciate that you probably have other priorities however! sierraman
Aaaannnd the lights back on again... Seems to do this when it’s going up a hill in a higher gear. I’ll plug it in later and see what craic is, maybe it’s the pressure sensor. The hoses were very obviously fucked anyway. If the sensor doesn’t solve it then I’m down the road of the DPF. Yes, I’m going to stick some DPF cleaner in and see how I get on with that. I’d not be a popular man if I jetwashed the DPF out on the drive. Ordered a Pressure Sensor as it was only £20 delivered so wasn’t worth taking a chance on. I’ve a feeling if it’s this it won’t regenerate anyway. Need to get it on Forscan tonight, stick a new sensor on it and clear spot values, stick the cleaner in and hope for the best.

Cord Fourteener
So I drove to Brizzle with fresh oil and I got engine lights, smoke, even limp mode for a while. When I get home I'll see what codes are there but it's definitely not happy 😪 Is almost like it can handle 70 mph and gentle acceleration but it can't handle 80 mph and heavier acceleration.
