Driving down the M27 yesterday evening at a steady 70 and seeing a sign saying M25 congestion J5-31thats pretty much all of it isnt it ?? ..... and then hearing about the 3 hour queues oh how we laughed as we drove the other way..... 8)

J5-J31 is roughly Sevenoaks anticlockwise to the north side of the Dartford crossings, which is the short way round. J31-J5 would be a mega-epic, more like 30-hour delay than three. Still, it's gratifying when the queue's on the other side, for once. I miss lots of things about living in the south-east, but traffic jams ain't on that list.

I love taxis, they're a great chance to experience the worst in motoring with very little outlay!

Haha, so true, taxis are the only time I have travelled in various contraptions, including Bluebirds, Laguna 2s, 407s, Daewoo Nubira and Mitsubishi Grandis. I keep trying to get the 09 plate Kia Magentis in Cheltenham but have been foiled so far.

I've been contacted by a chap who has bought my old Alfasud (the orange 5M that sat languishing outside a garage near Trigger's for years and which I thought had been scrapped).  Looks like it's going to be restored, which is good to hear - it was a great little car when it was running right.

You bought the whole shop?!

Nice venture Sav.

You got out at the right time though man, most of Scotchy isnt even there any more. What the riots left standing, the council "re-development" mostly tore down.

Scotchy now, then and in-between:

Co. Antrim reg Fiat Uno. PUB PHAKT: the big FIAT dealer for the area in those days was called "Dicks".

You can never lose a homing Pigeon.

If your homing Pigeon doesn't come back, what you have lost is a Pigeon.

A friend of my girlfriends got pulled up Saturday, no MOT on her Ford KArap, it lappsed back in July!!

FFS do some people just not care or think about the car they are driving around in? These cars (often owned by young woman) are often death traps, and I never understand all the hype about buying a car thats had "Wow only 2 lady owners". Its a recipe for fookin disaster!!

Anyway, Its a grin because she got fined £100 :-D

My best friend had that recently on his Fiesta, tried to tax it online and it said he had no current MoT. In fact it had expired three months ago, and since then he'd been driving from Leigh to Tilbury and back most days in the thing. Mind you he doesn't care about his car, it's extremely dirty, dented and hasn't had a service in years (he always claims he's too skint). He also drove around for several weeks with just the high level brake light working, before he got irritated with the amount of people telling him his brake lights were out and finally got the bulbs changed.

He's a nice guy, but not a car person at all, and certainly doesn't like spending money he doesn't have to on his car! How he's never been pulled over is beyond me.

The Corgi Renault 16 that EssDeeWon sent me arrived in the post this morning :-D

Massive grin, as it's 1) a very kind thought and generous gift and 2) a really nice model. It's in very good nick apart from some paint chips, and I rather like the 'playworn' patina so it seems a shame to repaint and (over-)restore it. (The same applies to my full size one, come to that.)

I'll post up a picture of the large and small versions together, hopefully in the manner of Father Ted's cows, if/when the rain stops.  Meanwhile, big thanks to EssDeeWon, you are indeed a scholar and a gentleman.

My dad occasionally forgets to get an MOT.   The reason?   He changes cars and then forgets that they all have different MOT dates.   "I always used to get it done in July".   Great bloke my dad but cars are not his thing.

I was feeling a bit grumpy thanks to stupid finger and the overcast weather (great band name idea) but then this arrived.

Someone on Faceache is selling a 1998 Mercedes Benz CLK 230 Kompressor and says it got from Anglesey to Blackpool and back on £30's worth of fuel. Based on £1.20 per litre, and Googling the approximate distance, it must have been doing 55mpg. Or they're full of shit.

New shite has arrived at Chez_Kru_Joe.

It's not mine to announce officially (it's Will's) so for now, here's a clue:
