I'd be more concerned that its Fatalius Fungiaris, better known as the "convert your guts into liquid" mushroom

I might have just made that up........

Not sure if this is grin or grumpy, but a drove a Golf for the first time last week. And (he ducks now) I thought it was quite pleasant. I certainly see why these sell so readily.

It was a 1.6 TDC automatic DSG, so not exactly a barnstormer and struggled a bit to do much above 130 Km/h on the Austrian autobahns. But was massively better than the new-shape Focus with a similar engine that I had in Turkey a few months back. In fact, I can't see anyone who test drives a Focus and a Golf together ending up buying anything other than the Golf (and I like Focuses in the main).

I extracted it out of the immensely useless Europcar in Vienna after persuading them that a 1.2 FSi petrol was not "similar" to the 1.6 that I had booked. God only knows how awful that would have been to drive laden with three blokes.

The same Europcar office was busily trying to extract various amounts of euros from the woman in the next queue for a "scratch on the bumper". So when arriving at the car three levels down in a dark underground car park I made them drive it up into the daylight and then write down every single tiny ding and scrape on the form. Don't think they were best pleased :-)

I have to admit that the only one I've driven, a diseasel Golf Plus Dune, was GR8 to drive. Seat needed to go back another couple of feet though, I had my knees round my ears. Other than that it was very agreeable... *hides*

How tall are you?

Or are you average height and all leg?

I'm assuming a dunce like me can't just go round eating mushrooms without a Scooby Doo what they are.

I'll stick to Tesco Scotch Eggs (or Ginsters Slices if they're a quid on offer).

You could try eating some random 'mushrooms' found in a field. The resulting mind bending flight of piloting a 500 BHP Scotch Egg around a cheap Ginsters Slice whilst off your face on toadstools may possibly* be interesting.... Petrol station shot FTW.

Pop music history was made in 1967 when Jimmy Savile introduced "cream" to the "small faces".

I find most people are quite tall until they sit down, I suspect this is something to do with their legs.

6 foot but I must be all leg. Makes getting the seat right easy, push it back as far as it goes! When driving my Panda my left knee is roughly where 4th gear is (dash mounted gearstick).

I did grass-cuttage today. The garden looks rather better and the neighbours hate me a little less :-)post-17913-0-25128700-1409783631_thumb.jpg

That's extreme.

I'm 5'10" (32" inside leg) and when sitting next to another 5'10" chap in the back of a Sirocco I had a couple of inches of head room and his bounce was kissing the headliner.

Oooh, if plans* to have Shitefest15 at Mo's gaff fall through we can just congregate on DS20's back lawn, look at all that space that needs filling with rust, oil and OMGHGF mayonnaise!

If only it were possible to get a car in there...I'd have one or two of mine sitting in there already :-)

About 15 years ago, the council decided it would be an ace plan to close a green lane and give the land away to the properties that bordered it...meaning that we each got a chunk of rutted grassy area at the back of our houses. My bit has neighbours each side, a school at the back, and my house at the front of it. No way to get a car in there without demolishing a bit of house, or catapulting the vehicle over the roof.

In other news, last night when I got home SWMBO was round at next door-but-ones cooing over her new baby. I popped round (nothing to do with her being a bit fit or anything)(the neighbor, not her baby), and she said that her BINI had started running like shit, and threw a warning light up. Aha, says I, and grabbed the nexus and obd reader.

Misfire on cylinder 2 was detected. It transpires that a few months ago spark plug number 2 was blown out of the block, and she had it re-tapped and put back in. Turns out that she knows quite a lot about cars, enjoys fucking about with them and said she would buy 4 plugs and hope that fixes it. I offered a lend of some tools, and she said don't worry, she has them in the shed... I picked the wrong one I think... I said I'd clear the code when she'd done the plugs. Tempted to ask her if she fances getting oily and covered in rust and changing my rear shocks... whilst I supervise obviously...

She also said she hates her mini, and wants something older again. There is hope!

Starter is finally fixed on sd1 after taking it to an auto spark. Something about a fire hazard and a burnt out flux capacitor. I dunno exactly what the score was but it was pretty close to bursting into flames. Once all that was sorted it got taken for its mot and flippin passed first time !

Now for sale.

Take air filter hose off carb

Rev engine as much as possible

While revving put hand over intake for a second or so till it almost stops then release keeping throttle as wide open as you can, repeat a few times.

Hopefully this will draw water/shit etc though jets and clear them.

It worked.  Qualz!!  This place is, &c.

We were bored at work for a couple of nanoseconds. We asked each other what attributes we saw in other. For those describing me it was: extensive use of sarcasm and the word 'fuckwit'. It brought a tear to my eye. My work here is done.

Just been watching Who Do You Think You Are? on BBC, because it was Sheridan Smith.  I didn't know she came from a C&W music family, so I was almost as pleased as she was to discover how far back her musical heritage goes... but best of all: she bought herself a banjo and has declared she wants to learn to play bluegrass on it!  Epic grin!

I tried and failed to get a Montego in C&SC. Heritage Motor Centre BMC BL day report. I'm not giving up just yet...
