MK1 son has a mate with a '96 300tdi disco, which he's taken on the maintenance of.

Reason? It's got a water leak (P gasket) but since she doesn't know anything about it, she rang the local dealer to ask if they could have a look.

"Yes madam, bring it in, we'll stick it on our diagnostic system and check, that'll be £180+vat...!"

Looks like she's not the only one who doesn't know anything about 300tdi's 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Meanwhile MK1 son has sorted it in about an hour..

Not plastic-hard, but a bit harder than the regular winter tires.  Just enough to be pretty hard-wearing. At least on my small car, now I've just bought  a set for the bigger one, I'llsee how it pans out trough this summer.

Only joking - in this context - P gasket is the water pump gasket on the 300TDi -  Look like a 'P' - hence the name.

Yeah sorry @DavieW should have been a bit clearer, thanks to @EyesWeldedShut for filling in the blanks!

Also it appears they can't even supply the right parts for another repair, despite being given the reg, and told what part it requires, a door handle cam for the lock rod is too small to fit the handle.

I wonder why there's a thriving industry for aftermarket landy bits?? 🤦

300TDi is like me (too old for Main Dealer support) ???
LR dropped the ball years ago - they could have gone into aftermarket support for the Series models but, Meh, so Craddocks, then Paddocks, then the young pretenders (Britpart et al) waded in - there's a massive market there - my missus did point out that LR themselves seem to be doing 'something'

On the way to work this morning I was driving behind some twat in a Mk1 Qashqai. Swerving all over the place, onto the other side of the road, right up the arse of the van in front. Just some stunningly piss-poor driving.

Anyway, the van in front obviously caught on that this guy was a dickhead and started slowing down when there was nowhere to overtake and gunning it when the road was clear. As annoying as it was to be slowing down and speeding up all the time it was an absolute masterclass in being a cunt. A solid 9/10. Maybe even a 10.

He kept him behind for the entire length of Stone Street from Canterbury to the M20, which is a solid 10 miles of B road with tons of places to overtake.
