Millennial discovers interest rates…

I read that piece this morning and it struck me that putting it out there just as Freshers' Week looms was a bit inflammatory?
The guy that features in the title comes over as a bit of a dick - but there is a fella later on that lays it out as it is - graduate tax, not a loan.
Currently I owe about 20% more than my student load was - not sweating it,

You are of course correct.

It's a bit of a pisser for some, and only very recently did I realise how lucky I was to sneak in on the "early" student loan system. Took full loans for four years at uni, £25/30k?

Even including nearly a decade not earning enough to meet the repayment threshold, I finished paying it off last year.

Mates of mine a few years younger went to the same universities, did the same courses, now owe £30-40k with no realistic prospect of ever paying it off.

My eldest lad had a letter from the student loans mob, expecting them asking for more money when he opened it, he found that he had paid it twice, huge windfall for him.  They even paid the interest on the overpayment.

Mates son has just finished qualifying as a vet.

Even with family support, he reckons he's £60k in the can!

Good job he's going to be paid well 😯

This has arrived in the post today!

Fairly sure no one else has this over here. I’m really hoping to make it to a Zastava meet to see reactions (that are probably going to be no one in his/her right mind noticing or caring)

Bloody hell, I'd forgotten all about those hats!  Not specifically the Yugo one, but those hats in general being a promotional thing.  They were awful.

Wife passed the driving test here in Spain. She has had a motorbike license for around 50 years.  She is over 70.

This made me grin today. In looking fir something else on the computer at work I came across about 100 BL standards from the 1970s to 1990s which someone had scanned in at some point. Screenshot_20240917-182136_SamsungNotes.jpg.e1098b398271a975fea0ac4a3db8ad35.jpg

This is typical.

An awful lot of the standards I receive for comparison to the testing we do are remarkably similar 40+years on. This is not a fast-moving area.

It does get written off eventually

Also the later loan system has a higher repayment threshold, so people earning less will probably pay less overall if they're on that system

 On Facebook I Just saw pictures of a Tata passenger estate car with the Mercedes Benz front end. It vaguely looks like a Merc estate from the side. In the UK we were perhaps more familiar with the "Loadbeta" pick up truck.

Someone commented "When you order a MB S124 on Temu" . Make me laugh.

Hurricane and Spitfire flying over my house in a very tight formation this afternoon.  Delightful.

If you're going to get off your head on drugs and attempt to steal from a car in broad daylight, check the owner isn't a shirtless fat bloke first.....

Amazingly the police turned up before anyone got run over with the cars just driving past Mr. Squished.

A big win as I was diagnosed with leukemia one year ago and am still here due to development of TKIs. Thankyou to all involved with that.

The bigger win  today is after 2 days of doing it in 10 minute bursts, I have changed the Ovlov  rear pads, which is my first spannering in a year. (Never thought I would ever do any again).

The biggest win today is saving the £300 plus  quid quoted by volvo  for the job which I intend to spend part of on a very good celebration bottle of Vin.

Cheers everyone :)
