I have my house send me notifications to my phone! When there's post, if the gate has been opened, or the front doorbell has rung.

It's all fun and games currently... If it all becomes sentient it's only got local non admin rights to the computer it's running on... 😬

As long as your house doesn't have Baba Yaga foundations you're safe from it running amok when it does gain sentience.

I'm sat in the garden and know the postman has been! (my letterbox flap has a door sensor stuck to it, then inside just under the flap are 4 of those tiny strong magnets! When the post pushes the sensor away from the magnet the automation runs to send the notification to my phone, it flashes some led's on my front room and the Google speaker I keep just for Announcements says a sentence! I've not left post hanging in the flap for months now 👌

All controlled and dictated to by me) the speaker thing is a bit pointless...) Screenshot_2024-06-07-13-52-38-38_b783bf344239542886fee7b48fa4b892.jpg.bfd456d350c432a4b3a369c5d5e9affd.jpg

I'm guessing whoever posted that owns the red car across the road....

For the first time in nearly five years in my ownership, and probably quite some time before that, the Rover 75 has working aircon.  I booked it in to my local garage today for them to trace the leak as ATS reckoned they couldn't regas it as it was losing pressure too fast.  Garage found the leak (high pressure port), repaired it and regassed the system, and charged me the grand sum of £43.26 for the lot.

That'll do.

According to my solicitor friend (a few years ago) there is no right to park on the highway, only the right to pass and re-pass. Handy to quote if someone tells you the road outside their house is their parking space.

The bloke buying my car is sorry he hasn't been in contact but his grandad passed away. Fast forward one week later and he'll 'be in touch later as they're organising care for his grandad when he comes out of hospital'

I'm just waiting for Matthew (28 & 5/6ths) to show me where he lay.

It is possible to have two grandads.

I have just discovered two things.

One, old-ish Porsche Boxters are somewhat cheap-ish.

Two: They are cheaper to insure for me than a diesel 205.

I can see myself getting sick of one before it ever goes wrong. Perhaps this is a thing which needs to happen once I have my licence renewed.

Something must be really wrong with the UK car insurance.
