M1 is finally about to return to some semblance of normality.

Tomorrow it will re-open between J23a and the new Ashby Road (Kegworth) overpass.

Next week it is promised to reopen between the overpass and J25.

It will be the full four & five lanes in both directions but the speed limit will still be 50mph for 'a while'.

At least the fuckers should stop using Donington as the longest, slowest shortcut in the world.

Just found out that the bus that I was instrumental in the saving of many years ago has been bought by National Express for their heritage fleet.

A quick count sees three restored and with a secure future now out of the first four buses I helped save - not too bad an achievement and even though I’ll never receive the credit, at least I’ll know!

Not sure if grumpy or grin....

A big chunk of the new Aberdeen bypass opened today,

It saves about 40-45 mins getting from here to the south of the city.

What's the gig with the Don bridge? is it really going to have to be replaced or are the powers of bodgery going to be deployed to rectify whatever the fuck-up was?

My current phone tariff is 4GB and unlimited calls and texts for £10 per month (SIM only, I bought the handset outright).

I keep getting close to my data limit so thought I'd add some more. They're advertising 6GB for £11/month so I rang up and asked for that.

"No Mr Hotel, you don't want want that tariff. I can offer you 8GB for £10/month instead if you like."

Twice what I'm getting now for the same money? Yes please.

I really like Plusnet.

The word honeycombing was used to me, I could guess that either a concrete pour was done under the wrong conditions or the mix was wrong (perhaps a cold mix poured over the summer).

As it only affects certain parts of the support they’d going to remove and repour them.

I believe as it was done in sections, replacing a few sections isn’t really a bridge.

The projection is for it to be done, tested and open by the end of the year, weather permitting.

:D It will now be -10 and driving snow for the next fortnight.

Looks like the forum is suffering data loss again, so requoting a post that was lost...

Is it not more a case of "no politics please, we're shiters"?

I have no idea! One of mine disappeared too. Posts just keep suddenly disappearing with no explanation.

Surely if a post was against [government] forum policy, there would be a courtesy PM made as I'm sure the [whips] mods are very polite people?

My next door neighbour has just been round with a gift of unwanted cheese from a client. They’re off on holiday tomorrow and the vacherin needs chaining up.

Plus a goats cheese which is one of my favourite cheeses in France.

About £30 worth!

This - rules are no politics so posts about that will be hidden.

Unless it is a persistent offender we don't bother PMing - although if a member wants to message us to ask that is always fine.

I don't know them, do you have a link to them? Not a lot mentioned in the forum sign up T&C's.

The grin, it's only paint. The sills are covered in a black mastic paint and after 25 years it is losing it's grip on the white. I might just get a can of black paint and put a tide-line there . That way as the paint flakes off it will not make it look worse. The black Mastic goes up to the crease line in the door.

Edit:

While I am here take a look at the replacement rear suspension to be fitted after new year. The old one is leaking oil.
