I'm calling bullshit though.

8×365= 2920

80000÷2920= 27.34.

Even with no sleep that's 1 an hour

He must be a looker!!

A virtual glass of port would be fine - I don't drink beer!

Just off to Borneo for two weeks. I am very excited.

Currently an amber alert for kidnapping in the area so if I do get taken, can I publicly bequeath the mx5 to Bucketeer as long as he looks after our two dogs.

Have a good time. Diving I presume ? Don't forget to come upwards after going downwards.

Tends to be a bit fatal otherwise.

My sister has spent a while there at the imperial college ( and others) research station at Sabah ( I think that’s the place anyway). Her speciality is rain forest ecology and associated parasites. Some of the spiders are BIG.

I love finding little gems of TV programmes that I never knew ever existed. Today after washing the BMW and Micra I bounced on down to the local Charity Shoppe and found a late 80s series on DVD called "Nice Work" with Warren Clarke and Haydn Gwynne. Even better, it was bloody filmed in non-other than Birmingham. Though it reminded me of the early episodes of Boon, loads of very bad attempts at the Brummie accent. Makes me laugh though! Loads of shite to spot aswell, Haydn's character drives an early 80s Renault 5.

Micra may well be on the way to repairs. So far, more inspection of the damage has seen that the boot floor is actually intact, the panel behind the bumper that seperates the bumper and boot floor is the one that is damaged. I managed to release the spare tyre. A mate of mine who owns a crash repair garage (around the corner from Sims) has inspected it and deemed it is repairable. I have also negotiated some correct-coloured parts, both front and rear bumpers, bonnet, brand new expansion tank and side mirrors for £100. I only need to pick them up from Brierley Hill. Ma is getting the 52-reg roffle Micra as a permanent replacement, the Blue Micra will be deposited for repairs next weekend.

If I remember Nice Work got a bit racy (to a then 15 year old)

My grin is sitting in Holland on the aft deck, as we nauticals call it, of a pre Hitler barge, (non wafting) with a big Gin and Tonic, with lime and ice, in 24 degrees.

Don't be silly old chap. The levers remain the same (on most) with the addition of a decompresser lever on the left for big singles. The gears are correctly located on the right & normally go one up, rest down. Meaning the rear brake is for use by the left foot.

They changed in about 1972 due to simpleton americans getting confused because the japs & themselves did it the wrong way around.

So today we have been on the Clun Run. An annual event organised by the Clowne Motor Club to raise money for the Air Ambulance.

Plan was to use the Delta, but last night the fuel pump decided it fancied a day off. What to do? 100 mile pround trip? Let’s go with the BMW 2000. A car that has done a maximum of 10 miles in my ownership since a restoration following import from South Africa.

What could possibly go wrong? Well as it turns out very little. Slight problem with the exhaust seal and the hot weather did cause a fair amount of pinking but a great time was had by all.

My mate in the car behind took this:

Yesterday , I had one of my occaisional Black Dog days, nothing compared to others here experience , but nonetheless the full despair, helplessness, futility etc.

Why the grin thread then?

Well, to keep away from other more normal family members trying to enjoy their sunny Sunday, I retired to a shed to mess around with a desk I'm restoring* . And discovered a couple of boxes of magazines that wouldn't fit in the magazine shed.

September 1994 Car and May 20 1992 Autocar.

In particular cheered me no end, in fact I will post theseindividually to any shiter that thinks there sanity may need saving at any point in the near future.

The contract I'm involved in at work transferred to another company as of 1st July.  The new company has a restrictive internet policy in place, and we were told last week that we probably won't be able to access external internet at all for a while.  I was therefore very pleasantly surprised to discover this morning that not only have they got the internet access sorted already, but Autoshite is somehow on the list of approved sites. :)
