What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

Both my iPhone and iPad have started to autocorrect* the spelling of ‘Wiltshire’ by replacing the ‘r’ with a ‘t’. When dealing with the County Council this is squarely ‘fair comment’.

Were you a forgotten antique worth a fortune?

I used the fil's dacia duster to go and pick something up in Ripley last night so it would of been rude not to pop over to see that lovely church in chesterfield while i was there

I've successfully put the innards back in a lr series 3 steering box today after only 5 billion attempts. Haynes book of lies tells you there are 20 loose ball bearings and offers the helpful* advise of retain them with grease. Obviously this only makes everything get covered in grease as ball bearings fly everywhere.

My jaguar fuel cap inexplicably fell to pieces yesterday so a trip home via Jacksons breakers in ewloe was called for.

Got one for a reasonable £3. Job done.

Now for the real grin.

Missus wants roll hoops and a spoiler for her mgf but as hoops go for quite a price on fleabay, around £300 and a spoiler around £100 things have stalled on that front.

Yesterday, looking for jags in the yard we spotted these on a Q plated mgf.

Purchased for an unbelievable £20 each!!!!

The hoops are Mike Satur boxer mk1 hoops with a glass windstop and leather trim.

On his site similar ones without the leather are currently £475!!

Kinda glad my fuel cap fell to bits!!!

Looking for a car phone holder last night and found this site.

Either they are the official phone holder retailer of Autoshite, or they can't remember how to remove items from their online store.

Car comes in nextdoor for the mot work that I failed the car on last week.Owner thinks I must have alzheimer's because I can't remember what I'd failed it on.He's the one who forgot the failure sheet and I've tested 40 + cars since.

Checked on the mot history site and the car failed at a different mot station the day before on exactly the same things I failed it on !! Loads more advisories though. So he's either even more forgetful than he thinks or he believes car fixing pixies live on his drive...

Verdict : twat

My car has both its phones still installed and they still work! Yes, I have to stick an old sim in the box of tricks in the boot but they will connect and I phoned the car one night, see if it was lonely :) I love the old installs where they are in tailored leather bits so they look at home.

I've always said that if I ever get a car with its factory phone kit fitted and working I'd buy whatever handset it needed, clone my sim card and use it! (would prob have to turn my actual phone off though I imagine?

I remember my dad having a sim slot in his Saab 9-5 c2002. Remember it being a right pain, he had to take out another contract (back when they weren't as cheap and easy to get without a handset as they are now) then set his phone to divert to the other number when he got in the car. Then divert it back again!

Probably one of the last to not have Bluetooth!

Cloning your SIM? You'll get both the clone and the original barred from the network.

Any time two identical MPNs turn up on a network, the system goes into batshit mode and alarms go off.

You might remember years ago, Orange used to let you have multiple SIMs with one number (back in the days of Everyday 50 and stuff). Turns out it was wide open to cloned SIMs and fraud, you could just pick someone else's number and use it for outgoing calls to arrange assasinations / drug deals etc, then move on to another. Essentially the network didn't care about MPNs and SIM IDs matching, or multiples of a number.

Since then, networks are really nervy about two matching numbers on their cells.

I'd be adding those extra advisories in just to wind him up

Saw a Fiat 500 today.

Reg number OH53 NNA but spaced as OH SENNA

The car was painted in yellow with the same stripes and sponsor logos as Senna's (safety) helmet

Was moving on a bit too, it briefly brightened up the Dudley bypass
