I put a hoover on ebay on Saturday that cost me 99p, plus £12 on a brushroll and about 3 evenings work to refurbish and mint it up. I put a high bin on it just for laughs and started the auction at what it owed me

Someone hit buy it now this morning, kerching! Now what to sell next!

6 weeks ago I changed my antidepressants from mirtazipine to sertraline and my eating habits virtually died off.

Been living on beans and soup with crackerbreads instead of bread and started walking the dogs every day.

So the grin is.........

Lost 3st 2lb.

Wife was sitting in the sun in our tiny back yard today and heard a couple of "lads" (her description) walking past.  One says to the other:

"That Cadillac's been there months now, it needs a restoration!"

It went out on Saturday.  Twice.  Pay attention lads!  Also, make that 12 months next week!

Also, news from stepson and wife: another granddaughter on the way! :)

I have to be in London for 8am... In a lorry, so I've given up south of Milton Keynes for the night.

On the plus side, this just rocked up.

Spent this afternoon wandering around various diy shops looking for some window putty, in an attempt to stop some rattly panes..

Didn't half get some weird looks off a few of the (mostly female) assistants, put it down to my poor Bulgarian and accent

Just been told Putty is Bulgarian for the "Lady Garden" of a womans anatomy......

I'm guessing my hand gesturing didn't help either.lol

Saw this Renault Alpine on Facebook.

Browsing the comments, I found this chap saying they are shit.

attachicon.gifScreenshot_20170502-064206_1.jpg

In the comments a chap called Lee Crowston kindly explains that its the cooling pipes you need to be wary of but he's rudely told to do one by the OP as his mate had one etc...

A quick look at Lee Crowstons profile made me chuckle.

With an Alpine GTA the last bit I would worry about is the mechanics. They rot like fuck under the fibreglass. The one I had I was told was a real good example by someone in the Alpine club. I sold it as a breaker to a bloke in Belgium as it turned out the chassis outriggers weren't welded just silicon sealant that looked like weld. If the doors have dropped check very carefully as it is usually the A post rotted out. The hoses are fragile and there is a metal pipe under the manifold that rusts which can cause overheating leading to blown gaskets. They are a pretty tough engine though, but you are not supposed to re-surface the heads on the turbo.

The new can of Bumper Shine I bought smells like a fairly expensive eau de toilette I wore years ago.

Splash it all over - fucking yes!

You guys are going to hate me for this because it started at 9....

On a digital channel called movies4men (ch48) they're showing the 1974 original "Gone in 60 Seconds"

It'll be on again, I reckon, they do that.

Sold a rolling omega shell for scrap via facebook , waiting for the fella to turn up in his truck. He arrives in a fucked mk1 scenic with bald tyres and an a frame " aah that'll a frame sound"  me says "really? with no brakes,no rear hatch,no gearbox, each wheel held on with 2 bolts each and perished tyres", "yeah no problem I'll just go and get a pump"

This could be A framing gold as the Omega still weighs 1600kg ! I will of course try for a pic

Well that was quite hilarious, especially when one of the lads near knocked himself clean out on the gate header. They'd paid £30 for the megane earlier today and the roadtrain was getting driven to the metal yard 10 miles away. Happy with £75 for a shell picked up tho !

fuppin wars, I would just be waiting for the call from the police, "Hi Mr Grobbelar, your Omega has been found blocking a busy junction behind a broken down renault scenic, we are charging you £300 for recovery plus £300 for no tax etc etc"

Just been out with a mate and his lad to buy his first car, a G plate small bumper Golf GTi. His lad is 11 knocking on 35, asked all the right questions, had read all the buyers guides so knew where to look for rot and got a cracking price.

He wants to put it back to original spec and is already on eBay looking at original suspension springs and dampers and other bits he spotted.

It's brilliant to see that kind of enthusiasm and interest in old cars from the young ens, reassures me someone might want to buy mine when I'm old and infirm.

Forgot to say, the Shaguar got a new MOT last week. Props to Volksy for sorting it out.

With my new job I get the train to work, so popping out at lunch to MOT the car is a no goer as whilst I get cheap parking (£7.00 a day instead of £14) I would need to pay it twice if I pop out at luch and come back so would not make any saving, plus I would have to crawl in and out of the town centre at rush hour which just isn't nice.

Volksy has started running one of these WBAC setups at a national dealership. I'm not sure if he's been on here and mentioned it as he's probably worried Billy will turn up with a car transporter overladen with shit for him to buy.

Anyhow, he suggested we give the chaps at his main stealer a try with the MOT as he gets it half price and they passed his parents Honda Jizz with no bother.

Turns out that was a good call. It only failed on a ball joint and as Volksy gets cheap labour and parts too, they repaired it for £38 including the part. I was expecting a full on weld-a-thon as its gone pretty crusty in places but they were seemingly very fair. That's not to say I can lay back and ignore the rust.

Therefore the car is in line for a service next weekend (garden permitting - see Grumpy thread) as its going to be in use for the forseeable future it seems, which is nice. There are a few bits of trim I need to replace too and the radio and the glovebox, so a day over to Jagcats is in order. Everything seems to cost £25 there. Indicator stalk £25. Radiator fans £25, Full working engine £25, trim clips £25.......

I saw a Megane with the number plate 'DU11 BOV'

He was one letter away from greatness and accuracy.
