Anyone fancy a hot drink?

I think I had a cup of that at Costa last week.

KNEED MOAR FOTOS!!!!!

Is that on eBay?

I want one!

Soz. I stole the picture from the 'shittycarmods' sub on Reddit. That was the only one. I am sure some expert googling will be fruitful as an automobile as fine as this must have a sizeable internet presence?

In other news, the windscreen wipers on the Jag stopped working the other day which resulted in me driving home looking like a Yorkshire version of Ace Ventura with me flat cap peeking out the window all the way home from the train station.

I just went out to see what the problem was, fully expecting it to result in hours of major mechanical operations as I removed most of the engine to get to the broken part, only to find it was a loose nut.

Result. That NEVER happens to me. Its normally ten times worse than I imagine. Now though its got me worrying that something really bad is going to happen to it to balance out the 'car-ma'

Edited For Pedantry. Unless you've got some fancy conversion going on.

Our team won at a quiz night last night, £74 spread between 3 couples made it a free night out.

Surprising as one of our answers was "fear of cock" but I knew Eric burdon was the singer in the animals and other such less known trivia

Think i'll change Landcruiser cambelt

post-17700-0-07038200-1479639852_thumb.jpg

Yes please, all cambelts should be like this, book time is an hour, and after you've done it once an hour is all it should take.

Idly browsing Gumtree looking for cheap winter wheels. Found a set of original Scirocco alloys cheap 5 miles away. Waiting to hear back, fingers crossed!

If the landcruiser cambelt is the same as a 3.0 hi lux then they are genuinely a half hour job when you have done a few !

Why can't other manufacturers be like this !

Same engine maybe not quite as much space though as the LC bonnet is shorter, which i found has made also access to headlight bulbs etc not quite as easy as it was in my previous Cruisers, and i don't reckon the newer one will be as durable nor trouble free as the older ones, time will tell.

No idea why they can't all be like this, obviously its easier with a NorthSouth engine, but there is no earthly reason why this isn't the norm.

Only one thing i don't like, as you will know the tensioner is under some serious permanent pressure, yet its held on with two measly 6mm bolts and no other means of support, I'd have shaped the casting for it to to brace against but what do i know.

Just seems odd to me, though to be fair i've not read of failures there, but Toyota use 6 x 6mm bolts to hold the dust cover on, and another 8 for the placky engine cover.

For those who haven't seen one, the tensioner is a spring (cannot be compressed by hand or a persons weight) inside that tube sitting directly below the idler wheel in the pic, the end of the tensioner presses against the pivot f the idler, a new tensioner comes with a grenade style pin inserted, and once all assembled you just pull the pin which releases the spring and go make a cuppa.

I can go weeks without seeing any, but saw four other Mk3 Cavaliers today in the space of 20 miles. Must have been a Cav lickers day out or something.

Reminds me I was tooted at the lights last week whilst driving the Cavalier, so I'm thinking 'oh here we go, what I have I done'. The burly looking bloke next to me in a modern gave the thumbs up and shouted across "love your old car man, much better than these new things". I agreed obviously! Cheered me up no end after a tiresome day at work.

The tensioner on the Toyota isn't actually very strong . It's a relatively light spring but a really stiff damper

Thats relieving to know, so that massive compression pressure needed in the vice (i have fitted a new one and idler by the way) to push it back in isn't going to be quite so much trying to rip those two bolts apart then as i feared.

Still seems bloody odd, tensioner two bolts, plastic dust cover 6.

Course the funniest bit was that i ordered a new Gates auxilliary belt to fit at the same time, never turned up, but i bought 4 Wix oil filters on offer from the same place and they did turn up.

As i'm putting the tools back i fully undo the parcel to put the filters away, lo and behold there's the drive belt, doh.

Have 4x Londsale brochures heading my way from a well-known auction site right now.

Each is a single sheet. Things get little more tuppeny-ha'penny enterprise than that.

What age is the Scirocco? I've got a set of Corsa C steels with 185/55/15 winter Maragonis on them with nowt to fit them to.

Just got in after a miserable trip to take my daughter to school (as she doesn't live with me I have to drive 17 miles to her Mum's and then a mile to her school - then back).  Came in somewhat grumpy not least due to the amount of drivers who were making no adjustment for the fact it's pissing down - I wasn't crawling along, just taking a bit of care around standing water etc.  Anyhoo, that could have all been a post in the grumpy section, except I came on here and after reading about 3 posts I was cheered up no end and even had one laugh out loud moment.

Thanks Autoshite posse.

Finished replacing the two foot wells on my neighbours Land Rover today which turned out really well, quite chuffed with the finished article!

Now have a long list of stuff to move onto.

Parking bays widened for bigger cars, says NCP

What a load of bollocks. If someone's an alcoholic you don't buy them another drink, and you don't encourage school-runners to drive Audi Q7s buy increasing the size of parking spaces in the ASDA 200 yards from home. However there should be dedicated large spaces for LS400s and 90s American imports.
