What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

A car I've owned (briefly) has actually appeared on telly?  Without having a piano dropped on it?  Bloody hell, I should have doubled the price...

Meanwhile, today is my stepson's birthday, which is very nice for him.  But even better... yesterday his daughter Elsie was born!  We will be meeting her in a week and a half :)

I've just had a phone call from housing. I've been offered the property. Need to go on freecycle now to furnish the bugger!

@Joe:  it's been weird for AGES, I'm suprised it's taken this long for anyone to notice.

Really? Wow, I could swear it was fine yesterday. Intentional?

Try giving the top of your viewing device a good firm wallop, it may reset for you.

For the last 15mins have been listening to (what turned out to be ) a Ferrari 288 GTO warming up in the unit next door. It sounded angry. 16,000 miles in thirty years according to the mot checker.

Can you ask if I can borrow it for a video? KTHANKXBAI

I've tweaked the vertical hold, it's fine now, thank you.

Join the queue!

The neighbours are the Virginia water motor company. They transport classic and sports cars internationally and store a few in the unit next door. Mostly mclarens actually. All the press mclarens are kept here along with lots of spares and promotional material. The Ferrari sounded very good, but didn't want to idle until it was warm.

Last year a white phantom 6 rolls ( like John lennon's) with Moscow number plates arrived in a shipping container. Oh we enjoyed the entertainment of them unloading that! There wasn't room to open the doors to get in it- obviously pushed in and then chocked etc in place.

They're building me my own office at work, this is massively pleasing.

I've got a great big window I can look out upon anyone approaching meaning I can just bang the headphones on and properly listen to 1990s happy hardcore mixtapes off mixcloud whilst confidently maintaining the facade that I'm a respectable member of society. At the moment I've got my back to the world so I have to listen to "Billy Bunter Helter Skelter 1996" quietly in one ear so I can hear when anyone creeps up on me to ask a technical question and they can't hear the BUN BUN BUN BUN BUN BUNBUNBUN BUN BUN BUN BUN BUN BUNBUNBUN when they approach.

It also means my job role has been substantially upgraded and I've got a nice payrise and stuff, but those things are in the future whereas I can listen to loud offensive music all day in like 3 weeks time and I'm all about the instant gratification.

I get looked at strange for liking happy hardcore, i lived literally 3 miles from kinetic growing up but never got to go though because I was too young, I was gutted it closed before I got to go

I missed it really first time round, it's just somert I used to hear blasting out of the cars of ne'er-do-wells when I was about 10. I didn't know what it was or what it was even called.

I remember buying Bonkers on tape and playing it in my nans MK2 Astra on the way back from Asda and she was convinced the tape was recorded dodgy and that I should take it back

As BV noted elsewhere, there's (at least) 3 simultaneous collection threads going on right now. It's like an open fire in a nice pub and everyone's invited on here right now.

I had some KFC on friday for lunch at work that made the bottom of the box go transparent. Grease was absolutely pouring off it, it was amazing.

Never stopped listening to happy hardcore, it's still 1996 as far as I'm concerned. Party Animals, Dune, Moon Babiez... etc etc.

Is that picture meant to show how cheap oil is, or how overpriced KFC is?

Plus oil just turns up in the ground. It should really be free. Chickens need feeding and stuff.

I hope the price of oil drops even more, could be on to a winner if it does.

Me too, running a big yank these days is brilliant! Long may it continue.

I think there is quite a few of us stuck in the mid '90s, music wise. I could get all grumpy and say its gone downhill since then and all modern dance music is shit but there is a large amount of outstanding stuff being made these days.

In the 90s, you had the compilation CD's, what was played in the clubs, Radio1 and a few half-assed DJ magazines as your only real sources of new stuff but now its stunning just how much stuff you can find through Spotify and Soundcloud. Even Pete Tong still plays some brilliant stuff - his show is always worth a listen, but I suppose it always has been.

My preference is always for the 90s euphoric dance stuff though.

Granted there is a lot of pish too, especially since the 'mericans got hold of it and called it EDM.

Took the rear wheel from my mate's Smart MHd down to the local tyre place today. The young chap who runs the place is famously well-spoken and polite, but when I handed him the wheel he said ""See those Smart cars? They're a ffffff.....erm, damn nuisance. Oddball tyres, dopey wee wheelnuts and the bloody things are too small for the ramp. Hate 'em, sir."

Tyre's cattled (screw in the sidewall), but he's promised to have one in the correct 175/50/15 for me by noon on Monday. Good show, good service.

We have a winner for the newest autoshite car. Don't worry I didn't buy one.

The Vauxhall Adam, fuck me. It has one of those touchscreens stuck to the dashboard, unfortunately Vauxhall used a Chinese tablet from about 3 years ago. It takes 30 seconds to power up, and the resolution is about 100x73p.

It's a dreadful thing and I can't wait until 2040 when they appear in an autoshite raffle.

Have the 3 sd1 rovers disintegrated yet? I was there other day.

The Rover was finally put back on it's wheels today so I could drive it home and it is _transformed_. I am very impressed and actually happy I invested the money I did in it now.  Mike is an absolute legend for slogging away at the job this week while I've only been able to help part time on it.

From a book written in around 1840 that I was skimming through today:

"The watchmaker holds most of his works in the fingers, both for fear of crushing them with the table vice and also that he more the more sensibly feel his operations; drilling is likewise performed by him in the same manner."

Now read it again with your head full of double entendre (if it wasn't already that way inclined).

Always annoyed me that the PT had this stupid one blip on the remote opens the drivers door and second blip opens the other doors and the boot. As I don't live in downtown *Liverpool and therefore have little fear of being robbed or carjacked, I have no need for this feature and its bloody irritating.... imagine my delight when I found out I could disable this feature just by turning the ignition on and off a few times and pressing a button.... sometimes I find newer cars features to be useful :-P

I am still in love with the PT by the way, it still makes me grin every time I walk out to it knowing its mine....
