You know this PPI bullshit.

Well i was 100% certain that i had never ever unknowingly bought any as my mantra was if you can't afford it outright then save up for it.

So i was on Martin Lewis's money saving site the other day and there is a simple template letter to fill in and email to your bank to check for it.

I sent emails to the three places i have banked with and blow me i got a letter back today from one of them offering me £5784.

Well fuck me sideways this kind of thing never happens to me.

The only loan i can think of was for a M reg Honda Accord back in 1999.

Over the years I've had loans, credit cards, store cards , I've never saved up for fuck all so soon i'm going to be rich beyond my wildest dreams

or not as I've been self employed all my life so I'm fairly certain I unticked all the PPi boxes but you never know, I've filled in as many as I can remember

My daughter went to see Bohemian Rhapsody a couple of weeks ago , she did art at A level but didn't get great results so she's not going to take it at university

I can't draw a circle so I've no idea where she gets this from

2 hours to draw Freddie Mercury & Rami Malek

Had my mate over the workshop today and he recently lost both his grand parents. Other family members have been scavaging the house and flogging anything worth a few quid and pocketing the money.

He just wanted bits that he could remember them by. He found his grandads old tool box that he had made when he was an apprentice and used for most of his working life. It had been put in rubbish pile.

So my mate took it, and today at the workshop he nipped over it with some scotch bright to get all the loose rust and some of the flaking paint, we found a can of Matt laquer in the cupboard. A few coats later and it looked great. Kept its patina and history,

It's now in his work van.

Love it. Get him to post a picture!

Until I remembered I had two mortgages with the Halifax in the 90’s which I thought might have had PPI on them. Anyway this morning I got a form from Bank of Scotland re my complaint about the PPI on my loan and could I fill in and return the form please?

Fingers crossed. Problem is one of them was a joint one with an ex so it may mean having to make contact with her for signatures, etc. Mrs P won’t be pleased! Although if I get megabucks offered I think she could live with half of Something we weren’t expecting.

All I need to do now is prove to Ford I did buy a car from them in March 2000 with PPI on the loan. Problem is I don’t exist, and neither does the car although I now have some proof from my Bank I was paying £170 a month for three years to Ford Credit UK so let’s see them respond to that....

So is mortgage ppi paying out ?

In '87  I had to lie through my teeth to get a mortgage, and i'm rubbish at lying .I was self employed with no accounts ....

At the interview , I said i was earning far more than i did,   and could easily pay...and had a job as a Surveyor, for some fictitious company ,  backed up by a false letter from an insurance salesman who had just sold me the endowment part of the mortgage...

And the Woolwich manager suggested i bought this extra Mortgage PPI for only £21 a month... Obviously i agreed , as I needed to be out of this interview as quick as possible... I was in a sweat like ...So for the next 26 years I paid London and Edinburgh 21 quid a month !! And i don't think they would have paid out , on my bullshit story ... And on top of that,  the Endowment only made half the money I was told i'd get to pay off the loan... Anyway it's all paid now...I swallowed that ,  but it does irritate me .. Not one for letters, complaining  or paperwork,  me...

A  pension the same insurance man sold me at the same time, is now projected to be worth £3 a week when i   retire in 8 years !!!!   Fuck !!

I had the same BS with a pension so I cashed it in , sounds like you have a case with the PPI , most who were sold it when they were self employed wouldn't have been eligible for the redundancy payments because you can't get made redundant when you're self employed

the guy selling it to you wouldn't have cared, commission was as high as 67%

Get your PPI claim in. It's not about complaining - they've ripped you off, they've been caught, and they've got to give the money back. With interest.

I used the template forms on the Martin Lewis website and it was dead easy. There are companies that will do it for you, but why let them take a cut of *your* money for easy work?

Honestly, mate, this could get you thousands. Be quick before the deadline.

What a swell day. Did some tat spotting around a leafy area of Croydon/Sutton (they do exist), and brought home the 850 TDI from Purley. It drives superb. and it's bloody quick!

I managed to spot tons of stuff, including a Mitsubishi Resort Runner, which was a Spacewagon with the VR4 engine in it!

I would say that it's horses for courses but if you have a bit of paper to your name you will generally get a better rate.  Do they still do day release apprenticeships?  To me that seems like a good system where you get to apply what you learn at college so one reinforces the other.

I don't think they're called that, but the college course needed some vehicle-related part time work on top of the three days a week in the classroom. They said it was compulsory but anything vehicley would do, even working on the till at Halfords.

My last VW beetle has been ressurected!

Bought in 1979 from a friend, I brazed up the major holes, sold a few years later to my dad, inherited by Mum and sold on after a few years to a dreamer not intimidated by it's terrible condition.

(It was a 1500 but it dropped an exhaust valve at about 180,000 miles and the replacement engine was a 1300)

...In other news, I had a lovely day out yesterday with wife and dog in Bowness, beside the lake (Windermere). The sun shone, we got a parking space, we even had a cruise on the lake. Beautiful.

Did you encounter any hungry swans wandering into town?

I know I had ppi with direct line as I remember the guy on the phone scaring me into taking it. However even after a sar request RBS said they only keep records going back six years (conveniently for them) so no refund for me :(

Anyone got any idea if there’s anything else I can do? I went to the ombudsman but they just said if there’s no records there’s nothing they can do.

Revolution wheels on a Robin!

That looks ace, really suits it :-).

Has me thinking of maybe a 'production sporty GT spec' Robin as could have been made by Reliant.

In the style of the Mini 1275GT or (original) Mini Cooper S.

Avoiding tat like wheel spats and union jack roof, etc, obviously.

Let 1 of the claims companies loose on them

They will dig a fair bit harder for the info than the bank will, let you know if they find anything and then ask if you want to proceed

Agreed. PPIReclaim.co.uk seems quite competent, and their fees modest compared to many others.

My garage clothes were honking a bit of petrol even after washing...

So gave them a wash in vingear... now they smell as sweetly as I can do!
