Major grin today. Mrs L hired a car from Europcar Newquay back in September.

 

Bastards wrote to her weeks later saying the car was returned with damage, that they'd already repaired it, and she was going to be charged £450.

 

We replied each time they wrote and basically told them to FRO, but had no proof in our favour. However I smelt a rat when the photos they sent of the 'damage' amounted to a photo of the front wing of the car saturated by the camera flash, and therefore not showing anything.

 

Still, it's been a major worry hanging over us.

 

Then, out of the blue, a letter arrived saying they're 'not pursuing their claim'. Twats. Why can't they at least explain why they're dropping it? Still, shouldn't complain.

I doubt their is a cadillac in the USA with the northstar V8 that does'nt have blue devil in its cooling system.

This morning Mrs_Duke announced that she had found a 2nd-hand "flat-screen" replacement for the small, decrepit Sony Trinitron that cowers in the corner of our living room, and I was duly dispatched to the other side of the island to collect it. I was expecting a crappy no-name LCD jobbie with dreadful colours and worse speakers, and was planning a detour on the way back to buy some half-decent sound gear for it.

It turned out to be an ancient* 42" JVC flat-panel CRT monolith which, as well as nearly giving me several hernias while getting it into the house, has kickass built-in speakers and eleventy hundred inputs, so I'm guessing it was fairly expensive BITD. I've convinced Mrs_Duke that the weird picture is but a small price to pay for living the $hite dream.
