richardmorris Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 In other news: 25 years today. Domestic Management has already observed that people get less for murder My parent's 50th was on the 14th. Often mentioned that it's two life sentences. chaseracer and Cavcraft 2
richardmorris Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 I collected a 2cv engine last night from a guy whose wife wanted it out from underfoot. Understandably since its been on their patio since the 1980s! I now have a twin engined Mercedes as I can't lift it out of the boot on my own ( hernia op concerns). Apparently it was bought new from Citroen in the 1970s as an engine for a microlight. It has a metal air cleaner, starter and single carb ( it was dark in a pub carpark) and has zero road miles. It was set up on a bench and tested for 10 hours and that's it. As a garden ornament it leaves a lot to be desired though. And as a boot ballast even less! Still it amused the locals backing a Berlingo up to the merc and then manhandling it across. michael1703, chaseracer, Tamworthbay and 1 other 4
beko1987 Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 Amy forgot 2 things when shopping earlier, so I went to the big asda 20 miles away, and filled the car up with derv too (she got paid today) Fuck me it reaches 110 very fast... And also fuck me people dawdling at 60mph in l3 come up quick at those speeds... I didn't feel comfortable at that speed for too long so settled back down to 80 after a few miles of fun (and probably 3 days worth of fuel) Another massive bonus, (I've been off work yesterday and today poorly sick, so not really driven to test it after Sundays work) is the wheel shake has moved from very noticeable at 65+ to barely a murmur at 85 to 90, then it goes again. One of the calipers must have been sticking slightly. Nice to know the warning signs if it happens again, not going to bother getting the balancing done for now then!
bramz7 Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 I've found some absolute a grade shite on a driveway nearish where I'm on holiday, and am embarking on a journey tomorrow for photos. Also, I drove 500 or so miles yesterday, after just passing my test. The ZX was faultless, despite some stupid woman reversing into it at a service station. No major damage happily, although my front bumper has moved a tad. purplebargeken, xtriple and STUNO 3

vulgalour Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 Beko, I like you and everything and I'm chuffed that you're enjoying the Xantia, but slow down a bit chief. I'd quite like to continue reading about your posts for a while, yanno? The Moog, purplebargeken, oldcars and 2 others 5

I'd quite like to continue reading about your posts for a while, yanno?Dont worry, it was the exception rather than the rule, was only about 8 cars on the m40 when I came down it. I can't afford to drive fast sadly, and as I said, it felt a but uncomfortable doing that speed, plus she was doing 4.5k, that wont be good for a prolonged period, I had to press the aircon button...
New POD Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 I want this car. Photographed in the Car park at Rolls Royce inside the razor wired, and electric fenced perimeter, so probably safer than in a drive in Allenton. anonymous user, fordperv and face 3

I'm going to clean up the outside and see if it has any oil in it. If it does I'll see if it turns on the crank handle.

mat_the_cat Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 I've been working in my job for a couple of years on a temporary contract, which they've kept extending. It finishes in November, so I was expecting the usual nerves and last minute decision yet again. Imagine my surprise when at the end of our daily department meeting, my boss announced I was being made permanent! This was followed by much clapping, back thumping and hand shaking Double grin is that I'd already asked for tomorrow off, and the weather forecast is good (it will be the 4th hot day of the year!!!) so will be enjoying the sun whilst collecting firewood in the blue Disco. dollywobbler Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 Great news! I'm all of a grin because holiday! Let's just hope the Rover will be fixed.

Mr A Lawrence Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 Yep, albeit a lapsed one.The way my team is playing we'll be playing in your league soon.
forddeliveryboy Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 Erm no. I'm going to clean up the outside and see if it has any oil in it. If it does I'll see if it turns on the crank handle. Fingers crossed it does - was it stored outside or in?
richardmorris Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 Fingers crossed it does - was it stored outside or in? By the look of it outside as a home for spiders. But if it's kept oil tight it may be ok - just depends what went down the carb rain wise! It's still got a purflux filter on it. Will take some photos when I get it out of the car boot!
richardmorris Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 Let me know if you are stuck for help. You're only 20-25 mins from my work so I could pop over before work one morning, or after one evening if needs be. Thanks - am going to try and enlist Dad's help when they stay with me tonight after they arrive in Gatwick. It went in ok but that was gravity assisted - it's the boot lip that's the problem if it was flat like the cx it would be easy.
vulgalour Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 I have decidedly green fingers so having a garden is a Big Deal for me. It really helps with keeping my mind healthy and gives me a good physical workout lately with all the manual labour required. There's a lot of complimentary remarks being made about it too which is its own reward. I have funny little milestones with a garden and one of those is having enough healthy flowering plants to bring some cut flowers into the house without having obviously taken any from the garden. Hydrangea (which seems to have been flowering non-stop since May), Crocosmia/Montbretia and a stunning dark red hybrid tea rose the looks like it's made of velvet. I feel really settled and comfortable and happy, it hardly seems possible that things were so bad so recently. Skizzer, Stanky, privatewire and 9 others 12
RayMK Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 I don't enjoy gardening but like good gardens, particularly the aromas from roses (old-fashioned strains are best), wallflowers, primroses, violets.....I'm definitely a flower sniffer .

vulgalour Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 Priuses are part of the Gay Agenda, silently and pretentiously taking over your neighbourhoods, reducing the number of petrol stations and helping to gentrify areas by being the first push for all those handmade candle shops and confusing soap boutiques. Oh yes, page 4, section 6 tells you all you need to know about the Prius and it's role in the building of the FAAAABULOUS~ empire. STUNO, Skizzer, privatewire and 2 others 5
