The parking woes of a street in Wellington. This was put on a car parked on private property. It made the papers, and at least one resident has parked " my really crappy old ute " in the street to teach the writer a lesson.

I suspect the street will be full of the unloved by tomorrow  :-D

The ute, parked outside the only house for sale in the street.

My reply would be that i have considered a plan and it is to save 1p per month until i can afford a new one.

I would put a note saying that I am very grateful for their concern and eagerly await their kind donation of a replacement in the form of X car (insert expensive make) and obviously in V8 form with full leather as required to uphold local standards.

My note would have said bollocks. I had a note left on windscreen of my reliant when I was in domiciliary care saying do not park outside my house it can lead to flat tyres. It was a main road,no parking restrictions and I wasn't causing an obstruction. I knocked on the house door and said polite and calmly did you leave note on my motor. Bloke said yes so I asked him nicely to not leave notes nor threaten to damage my vehicle. He came across all apologetic and said I can park there anytime. Ho hum. Some folk aren't right.

Took the MX5 to work and left a bit early as have been til there's some yellow hammer (birds) on the way I usually cycle in. Pulled into a lay-bys and went for a quick walk. It's a bit of a known area for fly tipping and the local councillors are great at getting stuff moved if you report it.

Anyhow, walked along the verge and nearly fell over this buried in the grass, so I've shoved it in the car and will weigh it in!

I'm sure that's an MX5 wheel!

I guess that isn't the response he expected from a Reliant driver! Fair play.

I'm grinning because tomorrow is holiday time! Though the Rover still isn't back yet...

I went out in the 316 just to do a couple of errands.

I came back almost 2 hours later. I can't help but just drive that car. It's such a happy wee thing!

Low power combined with a nice chassis = loads of fun within the speed limit.

Even though it looks a bit rough, and the exhaust is blowing slightly. I didn't care. I had Mylo's album Destroy Rock and Roll playing at high volume, and the sun blazing down. I only came home because I needed lunch.

I had a drive to work like that once. The m40 was megafucked, the zx had a full tank of fuel in, so I went a different back way. Ended up listening to a really good album, taking 3 hours to get to work, did over 80 miles rather than the 18 it normally takes...

And didn't even get told off for wandering in at 10.30 (almost phoned up and booked the morning off) as loads of other people had been caught up in it.

I just kept turning right rather than left towards marlow, was deep in the Chilterns, bum shit little roads, cracking morning, not another car about etc. Dont think I went over 40 but it all was just lovely

I'm on holiday and have just come back from a trip out to a nearby town. It contained an example of car which completes my personal Holy Trinity of roadworthy French car spotting.

I could now just stay here and drink cold beer for the rest of the week (not untempting, given that it's 36 degrees outside), but given the amount of stuff I've been finding this year I can't wait to see what the remaining days will bring.

I've made a start getting stuff onto Flickr. Spotted's Spottings is going to be quite busy for the next few weeks.

Seems that we have at least 4 foxes visiting our garden at night.here are 2 youngsters on our feeding table last night, note hedgehog on ground behind them, there ar 2 of these visit every night, seem to be totally unafraid of each other.

Also older fox living in our old caravan at bottom of garden,he is there every night, sometimes creeps in for kip during the day.

Loads of birds in daytime, magpie mafia, seen up to 12 of them at once, always accompanied by a couple of jays.

Saw an SD1 today! Being used as a car for Gods sake! Mustard yellow mk1 with 'SE' wheels but didn't get close enough to see what cc it was. Nice though, bit of rust round the door bottoms and slightly mucky, just like a five year old car of the time. :)

The 14" 'Harrier' style of alloy wheel, if I'm not mistaken.

Had that note been left on any vehicle of mine I'd be straight off to FOAD's place to purchase a certain Lada Samara.

Cheeky cunts.

I think DVLA are getting confused, it's only a matter of time before everyone on autoshite has owned all the cars. Perhaps we could shortcut this by getting everything registered to a PO Box Number.

nah it just comes back as johnk or wuvvum

In other news: 25 years today.  Domestic Management has already observed that people get less for murder

My parent's 50th was on the 14th. Often mentioned that it's two life sentences.

I collected a 2cv engine last night from a guy whose wife wanted it out from underfoot. Understandably since its been on their patio since the 1980s! I now have a twin engined Mercedes as I can't lift it out of the boot on my own ( hernia op concerns). Apparently it was bought new from Citroen in the 1970s as an engine for a microlight. It has a metal air cleaner, starter and single carb ( it was dark in a pub carpark) and has zero road miles. It was set up on a bench and tested for 10 hours and that's it.

As a garden ornament it leaves a lot to be desired though. And as a boot ballast even less! Still it amused the locals backing a Berlingo up to the merc and then manhandling it across.

Amy forgot 2 things when shopping earlier, so I went to the big asda 20 miles away, and filled the car up with derv too (she got paid today)

Fuck me it reaches 110 very fast... And also fuck me people dawdling at 60mph in l3 come up quick at those speeds... I didn't feel comfortable at that speed for too long so settled back down to 80 after a few miles of fun (and probably 3 days worth of fuel)

Another massive bonus, (I've been off work yesterday and today poorly sick, so not really driven to test it after Sundays work) is the wheel shake has moved from very noticeable at 65+ to barely a murmur at 85 to 90, then it goes again. One of the calipers must have been sticking slightly. Nice to know the warning signs if it happens again, not going to bother getting the balancing done for now then!

I've found some absolute a grade shite on a driveway nearish where I'm on holiday, and am embarking on a journey tomorrow for photos.

Also, I drove 500 or so miles yesterday, after just passing my test. The ZX was faultless, despite some stupid woman reversing into it at a service station. No major damage happily, although my front bumper has moved a tad.

Nice one! Are you going to have a look inside before turning it over, or has it been kept 'alive' by cranking it a few times a year?

Beko, I like you and everything and I'm chuffed that you're enjoying the Xantia, but slow down a bit chief.  I'd quite like to continue reading about your posts for a while, yanno?

Dont worry, it was the exception rather than the rule, was only about 8 cars on the m40 when I came down it. I can't afford to drive fast sadly, and as I said, it felt a but uncomfortable doing that speed, plus she was doing 4.5k, that wont be good for a prolonged period, I had to press the aircon button...

I want this car.

Photographed in the Car park at Rolls Royce inside the razor wired, and electric fenced perimeter, so probably safer than in a drive in Allenton.

Erm no. I'm going to clean up the outside and see if it has any oil in it. If it does I'll see if it turns on the crank handle.
