Depends on how much you drive.

Also, which 50mpg car would provide the same quality of life as a Lexus 400?

Like, DURRR

I'm really not jelling to this Audi, it's not a terrible car but it's definitely not for me, I'm quite fussy and hate faults on cars and I'm normally happy to sort them but on this i just can't be arsed, they are all niggliy things but mount up. The exhaust manifold still blows which is embarrassing, it doesn't idle well when cold although i think that's a split pipe which I'm waiting for some liquid rubber to arrive so i can glue it up, the sunroof catch has gone so the roof won't stay up, the headlining has now dropped and looks shit and I'm still not sure the front suspension feels quite right. I'm going to get it moted during the week and probably sell it on at a massive loss to myself. :(

What you need is a nice little low mileage 1988 Sunny, no mechanical faults with a new MoT, replacement cam belt and driving beautifully but just some minor bodywork TLC required…..

Jeepers. What was your mate doing to it? My mate's L400 seems capable of doing 22mpg even at a brisk pace, and on huge ruddy great mud terrains.

Train weights not an issue because OLD.

GLF.. he built the 335i-not a fan of sloooowwwwww

I was reading earlier about turbo and exhaust upgrades for Dellies. I guess the downside is EVEN MOAR THIRST.

Good job I don't drive anywhere most days then. Though the XM has covered 1200 miles in the past month. Let's do some fun sums!

1200 miles at 50mpg = £120

1200 miles at 22mpg = £272.40

Er, ok. You have a point. I will soon be getting my hands on a car which is even worse though. Oh bugger. All will be revealed on Friday. Train booked!

Please don't do these sort of sums, I've done about 9k miles in the Land Rover since September I'm getting less than 20mpg most of the time.

When I owned my 90 V8, I definitely avoided any sums! The low fuel warning light came on at half a tank...

I went to fill the Morris 10 up in Hendon this morning and was confronted with a pump I've not come across before. I wonder if this fuel is compatible with the rubber my fuel pipe is made from as there were problems when unleaded came out.

All I know about that stuff is, that if done right, it makes a nitro fueler feel lame.

Too bad it takes so much Renewable® energy to make it.

I've put my Delica plans on hold. This is because I was sensible and checked my chunnel booking for August, which is restricted to vehicles no more than 1.85 metres tall. Pays to check facts first.

I think the low roof Delicas are just under 1.85m, aren't they?  Mine always seemed to fit under car park height restrictions, anyway.  If not, just let the tyres down a bit.

What a day. This morning whilst on the way to deliver Fiat 500 Abarth I found that my bank card had gone awol from my wallet. Thankfully I was only around the corner from home. Eventually I found it at a store I'd bought some stuff from. Like an idiot I'd left it in the machine.

Man-flu has really hit me now. Upon arriving at hotel I fell sick, coughing and spluttering like an old Rover that hasn't been started for 20 years. Thankfully my job isn't exactly labour intensive. Today I have a lawn-mower like powered Citroën C1. Tomorrow a Range Rover (TDV6, not your "only way is Chav" 'Sport') to take to YAAARKSHIRE LAD, then I'll be heading to Stoke-on-Toast.

I'm having a clear out. I'm sick of spending money on cars broken cars. This is entirely my own fault obviously as I keep buying broken cars.

Panda is now on ebay, p6 to follow shortly after. I 'll probably keep the cortina as I'll need a project for when I retire in 25 years time.

A local garage that is reputed to not be scared of

1 Renaults

2 specifically Vel Satis'(?)

3 and even Avantimes

thinks that it is unlikely that the cat is dead and that an oxygen sensor will resolve the troubles of the Presidential barge, and will assess it for free later this week.

Trying to remain level headed about it's chances...

Totally randomly, on my way down South on Friday, Lord Sterling spotted me arrive at services just as he was leaving in the Fiat Abarth mentioned above.  Chances of this happening veh slim.  I was pretty knackered, traffic had been horrible all the way to Leicester Forest East where we met.  I bumbled off for the rest of the 300ish mile trek to my destination and had a pleasant weekend away, doing the drive back today which was another 300 or so miles.

Rover has performed flawlessly with the exception of picking up a judder at 60mph as I was going through Derbyshire, I reckon I've lost a wheel weight.  There was a funny noise too which was driving me nuts, I couldn't figure it out at all... until I closed the sunroof.  It was wind noise.  So, a 600 mile trip in two days and I avoided 2 motorway closures, saw two exploded lorry tyres, 24 broken down cars and passed by 8 collisions.  It was like the sun came out and everyone went a little bit crazy.  Not Rover though, transported me in comfort for great distances at minimal expense and regained my trust in it after the immobiliser issue of April.

TL:DR; Rover in Good Car news everyone knew anyway.

Saab is dribbling PAS fluid all over the place.

Actually, there's a hilarious* story about that.

I took it to That London a few weeks ago for a weekend away from the kids with Mrs_WoC.  On the way back up the M1 there was a bit of a sudden clatter, which was a bit ominous, but, as everything seemed in order still, I carried on unperturbed.  That was until I came to leave the motorway and went to turn a corner... yikes!  No PAS.  Investigation revealed the pump had basically fallen off and chucked the belt off.  Hence the clatter as the bolts headed south (literally).

The PAS pump is right down the back of the engine and covered in shite, and I found I don't even have the means to raise the car high enough to see the thing properly;  so off to the garage it was.  I got them to wang on a shiny new exhaust at the same time.  Luckily I didn't need a new pump, although evidently something is now leaking.  Oh well.

Shiny back bit.

Shiny front bit.

Cracked manifold is causing/contributing to a bit of a misfire, I think.  It was worse before I got the rest of the exhaust replaced.

There's a hell of a vibration from the driveline now as well.  I'm thinking driveshaft and/or CV joint.  It's only present when under load and disappears when the clutch is disengaged.  Over about 50mph it's threatening to shake itself to pieces, hence it's pretty handy that I now have the Gooner for daily duties and the Saab can wait in disgrace until payday.

I said i wasn't getting on with that Audi! A friend a work recently bought it of the original owner who's retired from driving, it's a 1.6 L with 64k and full local history from new, It has 11 months mot and other than a couple of rust spots on the sill/wheel arch dogleg bit it's in fantastic condition.

The only fault with it is from the lack of use in recent years it now splutters and cuts out when hot, it's either fuel or dizzy related but I'm not paying much for it so i can afford to replace the parts.

I'll be sacking off the tow bar and GB sticker though.

Why would you get rid of the towbar from such a Powerful Towing Machine?
