I got a quote for my son and it was half that!

It's because it's that extremely rare 'Volvo Pride' model. There was only ever 1 built I think.

Cheapest came in at £420 fully comp with Tesco - anyone know what are they like as an insurance company?

I was with Tesco for years, they were absolutely fine and paid out quickly when I had my M11 pile up.

Was with Tesco for a couple of years, excellent to deal with, never had any issues.

The only insurance company I've had no issues with TBH

Congrats Trig and MrsTrig.

Always the way that when the pressure's off efforts come to fruition.

I had the Avantime when we had our wee baby and it is NOT a good vehicle for little babies in rear facing car seats. I used to have to open the door, put the back windows down then man handle the seat in and clip it in through the window or lift the baby in and out via the window like a tiny Bo Duke.

Congrats trig! You'll need to buy a mk2 transit minibus now.

Our 2nd is due in November, fords seem to act like an aphrodisiac as our first was when I had the sierra estate!

And lo, the serpent came down and filled more books with lies, and they were called Haynes.

And none from this parish was surprised.

Took the Scirocco back in for more tuning. Turns out Haynes lies about timing marks, and it was 6 deg too far retarded. All correctly timed up and she's running smooooth.

Treated her to some stickers for being a good old easy-to-fix girl.

And that will be the sum total of all stickers applied, as I hath no pineapples.

Re BrookJM's Fords as aphrodisiacs comment. Apparently I was conceived in a sit up and beg Prefect and I'm pretty sure my oldest could have been called XR3i rather than Samantha.

We'll have to wait to see if Triggers wee'un is named Tina for a definitive answer there but , anyone else conceived in a car?

If this does all work out then it would have been conceived at a 70s weekender at Pontins on my 35th birthday!

The friend I'm supposed to be sharing the Andy18s V8 Disco with has potentially landed a very good new job that may come with a company car - which could mean the Disco being surplus to requirements quite quickly.  (I'm not backing out of the deal, but might offer it up for sale again in a few weeks.)

However - he's also just cleared out his garage and offered me the use of it as storage space.  Much win!

In good news, Steve the mechanic has advised that he can free off the A35's brakes and that the cylinders are ok/salvageable. In case anyone was unaware, A35 replacement wheel cylinders are handmade out of uranium coated platinum, with diamond pistons and unicorn skin seals* so I am very pleased.

* not really, they are just a bit expensive on what is otherwise a cheap, simple, car and I have very skewed priorities on what I will and won't happily spend money on.

I've got several suitable for reconditioning, if you or any other baby Austin owners ever get stuck. The club does them for about £35 each, so pricey, but once they've been stainless steel lined you'll never have to touch them again, bar the occasional shoe adjustment.
