I was under the impression the lwb is 2.8m loading length, so annoyingly a little bit below what I need. But it probably has the load through hatch in the bulkhead to mitigate this.

There seem to be slightly different lengths that the brands advertise here on these, but they all say about 4m length through the hatch in the partition on longest one.

So the best thing to do if you were considering one would probably be to measure the cargo space.

A couple of things I forgot, Dad's used a little coolant, not much but a little, this seems to have been solved with a new coolant cap, which was recommended by the nearest Peugeot dealer, the new cap from Meyle was different from the old one. And they have unusually good payloads, they vary by year and model, but Dad's has over 1400kg.

@Popsicle I’ve got a 2017 (new shape) Citroen Dispatch 1.6hdi here. Only 1 owner and 81k from new but I’ve had to completely rebuild the engine as it was worn out. Started off as timing belt failure (didn’t make the interval before snapping) but when stripped it was completely fucking fucked.

It’s a decent steer, amazing on fuel but feels like it’s made from tissue paper and hopes and dreams especially compared to anything VAG. Also this one has the factory bulkhead in and I have nowhere near enough leg room at 6’1” to the point where I can’t believe they would develop and sell it like that.

Believe the 2.0 is the stronger lump but falls into dmf issues etc but I’d definitely have a decent sit/drive in one before getting too excited.

Everyone both me and my dad have talked to here recommends a maximum of 5 years and 100,000km no matter how much longer the manufacturer says on timing belts. The same with engine oil changes, I think these have 40,000km interval here, both the local garage and Peugeot dealer have recommended a maximum of 20,000km if you want the engine to last.

But there is a strange thing that has happened with yours, the 1.6 diesel engine is usually good, as I have said here before I recommended my mom in 2011 to buy a new Berlingo with this engine and she still has it and the engine has been very reliable and has only had an egr as the biggest problem.

I’ve heard a few stories of people with these 1.6 engines not making it to the timing belt interval so the advice you’ve had is absolutely spot on, and as always oil is cheaper than engines so servicing more often is never a bad idea.

Agree that the 1.6hdi is usually not a bad engine, I’ve had a couple through my hands but always as euro 4 or 5. This being euro 6 is on 0w30 and 25k mile service intervals so I believe it’s that coupled with the usual DPF oil dilution that’s done the damage.

Picked up an exhaust for the panda from the factors yesterday and have just ordered a pair of driveshafts for the berlingo from ebay.

Exhaust (cat back) was more than it's worth at 118 quid imho though seemingly the going rate. Could of got the driveshafts for 180 at the same factors (ABM in Plumstead) which was a whole £310!!!! quid cheaper than GSF though have decided to chance my arm on the cheapies.

Whilst both these vehicles are still noisy at present it is nice to know the remedy is in hand.

Plan to chuck the zorst on tomorrow. I love working on exhausts.

Made the stooopid mistake of asking on a Faecesbook Ovlov group if anyone wanted parts from my S40 T4 before it goes in the bin. I miss the days when you put an advert in Autotrader, people phoned and came to collect.

I'd have loved to get along to this, but knew the heat this weekend would have absolutely killed me and I'd have just wound up utterly miserable.  Some cracking photos in there.

This was my favourite shot I got from the - I think - European Finals last year.

It was very sunny, we spent most afternoons sitting in the shade enjoying some refreshments!

Couple of fleet movements this weekend.  On Saturday afternoon the roffled Eos departed to start its new life with coachie in Wales.  Then I delivered the i-Miev to BeEP's and came home in this little sweetie.

I do love a Citybug and if my circumstances were different it would be staying, but things being what they are it'll probably be going up for sale very soon.

Didn't get a lot of fettling done - I'd been planning on doing some cleaning of the fleet today but the water has been off most of the day due to a burst main which put paid to that idea.  I did have a crack at re-patching up the fuel tank on the Renault 6 - once the leak fix stuff has properly hardened I'll stick another gallon in the tank to make sure it's worked.  Also got under the Rover and gave the offside rear inner sill a wash and clean up ahead of giving it a good dousing in rustproofing wax once it's dried out - it was an advisory on the MOT and although it's very much still just surface rust at the moment, I think using it through another winter without giving it some protection would be asking for trouble.

Practical family motoring. (Those are 6 foot by 1 foot.)

We'll just skate over the fact they came to rest on the dashboard right where first and second gear are...

Go to lock up for jack and other tools. After climbing over all the shit and selecting the regular not quite all the tools to carry out the job I decided the jack must be somewhere else. All the somewhere else's searched then back to lock up for the jack.

Though not the handle

Finally up in the air to see what awaits.

IMG_5581.jpeg.5162fd842d72d9563b2467889c15528f.jpeg

Quite apt that came out upside down as it helps the imagery of all that rusty shit falling in my face.

Verniers to check I had the right size to pipe before i got medieval on the old one were on the list of things left in the lock up down the road.

Whatever the fuck these are were on the dash and did the job with aplomb.

Bought new clamps as ive cried the tears of trying to reuse them before. So much easier to just chop everything off and not have an old clamp snap when you tighten it back up. Should of bought new rubbers too though didn't as there's Yorkshire in my blood.

Someone had clearly been here before.

IMG_5587.jpeg.5c4c7cfd4ff8ea577a891ca588f615bf.jpeg

And here. No clamp and spot welded on. Grind grind then then off to find BFH.

IMG_5588.jpeg.f68de29c46b39f9338a0fa73c884cf25.jpeg

Beat, twist yank then slide the new bits together with plenty paste.

Bosh, done did.

First time i've twiddled spanners on this one or indeed looked at it apart from checking the fluids after driving it home and giving it a very quick wash. Have definitely bought worse vehicles.

A few weeks back wired the standard radio to accept bluetooth. This has ingratiated it with the family massively and it's now a rolling singalong machine.

Best go drop it down to the mrs at work I suppose.

We had to pop in to town last night. Came back to the car to find another Up! parked in front of ours. A very early base (12 reg) with interesting* wing mirrors.

Go on admit it, you're around like minded folk, no shame in it, you've ordered a set, haven't you? 🤣

@Dyslexic Viking & @Gaffer thanks for the insights into the newer style Expert/Dispatch etc. One thing concerns me about them and maybe you guys can shed some light on this. Every review I've read states that the seat, steering wheel and pedals are not in a natural line and you end up sitting pissed, which causes poor posture and backache. One review even said it was unbelievable in this day and age that such an issue is allowed to happen.

Thinking about this it might only apply to RHD models, so maybe DV won't have this issue. As I'm a 6'3 fat old knackered lump, comfort is at the top of the list for me.

I might have to collar the local Evri guy, he's recently upgraded from a Zafira to a 20 plate Dispatch. He'd been trying to buy the Caddy off me when I was laid up last year.

The servicing and cambelts don't worry me, its par for the course, I service the van every 10k miles, which is around every 2 months now I'm taking things a bit easier.

I doubt if your customers will be willing to pay you anything towards the Adblue system going wrong.

They won't, but they do pay me enough to cover the maintenance, with a little bit left over to put food on the table. Its a bit embarrassing really, some weeks I invoice out more than the vans value just for a few deliveries!

It's been over a year since I've driven it now but I don't remember noticing this problem when I have driven it. Dad hasn't said anything either.

So for us, it has been fine.

Fairly new "Bosch" glow plugs replaced as well, look out for fakes everyone. 5/5 were deid and it took a good 60s of cranking for it to build up enough heat to start.

It's a shiter of a job on these too as they are buried under the inlet manifold.

Just done a job for father in law. I asked if he had an extension lead. I was told in the cupboard and found this:

Sold the A4 last week, as you all probably know.

Still not replaced it. Enquired about 2 cars, no reply to either.

Nothing is bowling me over online, I saw a nice Giulia and considered it, but someone got there first. Probably for the best.

Seemingly torn between carrying on with low price 'bangers' or just committing actual money to something.

It's too hot today.

I've just spent at least five minutes looking for them on line before I got bored and found nothing. If you zoom in they look more like transfers or even printed. Anyway it's probably a good job I can't find any.

Local heritage park had a very small car show on Sunday, had booked in, but children movements meant I missed the time to get in by being at a kids party. Took a few pics of the cars on their way out.
