The dark silver with a hint of purple suits the Xedos 6 so well. It reminds me of Aspen Silver on my E39 which I think is the best color for that as well!

Serviced the couriering Caddy this evening, 27th service in my hands, it's the most I've ever serviced a vehicle, which is not surprising as it's the highest mileage vehicle I've owned.

20250628_202553.jpg.d34b7dfdc97aa938c2cb72c1ae8245d7.jpg

I need to make a call on it really, a lot of my deliveries are 3 metre lights and trunking, it fits with half the bulkhead removed and the passenger seat folded forward, but it's not ideal. The rattling from the trunking is pretty annoying very quickly.

I hate changing vans, everything's so bloody expensive these days, but I could do with more space. Trafics and older shape Vivaros (new ones aren't long enough) are looking the most likely, Transporters are crazy money and I don't want to go back to Sprinter size vans.

I might put it off, I'd like to get 500k up on the Caddy, decisions, decisions.....

Just got back in from STP3 myself, after a 4.30am start and a casual 8 hours and 450 miles of driving today!

Some super racing, and one can never tire of the ever changing variety of ST cars attending every year (due to their owners valiantly battling against serviceability rates, design complexity and parts costs that would rival an English Electric Lightning squadron....)

Great to bump into @wesacosa and @Snipes and put more faces to names whilst checking out some top notch shiting! I've been beaten to the punch for pics of most of the tasty stuff but I'll see if I've got any that haven't been posted so far 😎

Annoyingly I've also just realised I got so engrossed in chatting to Abbie Eaton about how her lovingly recreated Commodore handles Vs a touring car, that I forgot to ask her for a picture 🙃

Not much Toyota content in those, they are a re-badged Stellantis product.

What is petrol if it's not a fossil fuel?

Kuga auto I think will be a Powershift/Powershit high liability double clutch box that have a terrible reputation.

A long and tiring day travelling to Turkiye today.

We took a flight from Manchester to save £500 over Glasgow. I wouldn't do it again. Anywhere south of about Lancaster is now strictly collection territory only. Massively overpopulated and busy, crazy roads. We drove through torrential rain and water got into the 75s bonnet sensor and it kept pinging up a 'bonnet open' message on and off every few seconds which was irritating. Water has got into the sensor again and sent it doo lally.

Flight was OK, family from hell sitting behind us. Mum comatose, dad drinking heavily, kids pissing about non stop. I managed not to get arrested. Scottish folk travelling abroad are arseholes, what's wrong with people?

Lots of lovely Tofas Sahins spotted already plus quite a few Renault Toros. I even saw a few older Murat 131s. Hope to get a few pictures!

Hotel seems OK, first impressions.

The newer shape Vivaro/Expert/Dispatch/Scudo/Proace max out at 2.8m load length, not quite long enough*.

The older shapes and current Trafic is just under 3m (2.94m) in lwb form, should be fine on the diagonal, they tend to have a load through hatch beneath the passenger bench as well.

*story of my life.

My son's got the old engine out of his Getz. The engine hoist cost £150, a bit less than a week's hire at £180. It looks pretty strong just not sure where to store it, and how to get rid of an engine block..

The 2018 Expert Dad has also has such a hatch in the partition. And length 3 is massive on these his is length 2.

But they may be over budget and are all Euro 6 with AdBlue unfortunately.

Your local scrap yard will happily take it, may even give you a token pound for it.

Nae worries at all, I didn't want to interrupt your moment of fame :D

Yeah it's been around in a various series, always pretty quick (as is the driver!) but I never knew until now that it wasn't a genuine racer.

I've kinda excepted that I'll have to go euro 6, I'm spending about £150 a month on ulez/caz charges so it makes sense to go compliant, I do charge companies the extra for it, so I'm not out of pocket, but it's just another admin thing that would be nice to remove from my life.

Was your dads Expert the last of the old shapes or the newer shape and was it a reliable van for him?

He has the new shape and has owned it for 3 years now and has been a good van only thing was the adblue tank had to be replaced 3 years ago but that was covered by Peugeot. Dad uses it to deliver firewood with fully loaded van and trailer so a total weight of about 5 tonnes so it gets worked hard owner before he was a builder, it is approaching 200,000km now. 2,0 diesel engine 120hp which is normal dry timing belt. The only thing we don't like about it is that it's white and the paint is bad, the paint is peeling off and it rusts so I would avoid white ones if I could. But they have a good reputation here and are popular and often come up for sale with high mileages on the original drivetrain.

So my impression is that they are good vans, but you can be unlucky with everything, of course.

Picking up a tractor with it in 2022 a 1400 km drive.

Thanks for the info DV, that vans doing well for your dad, loaded up with big weights and towing a trailer is a sure fire way to find any weaknesses.

I was under the impression the lwb is 2.8m loading length, so annoyingly a little bit below what I need. But it probably has the load through hatch in the bulkhead to mitigate this.

More info for me to procrastinate over! I always end up bogging myself down with information/stats overload, before making a decision.

I doubt if your customers will be willing to pay you anything towards the Adblue system going wrong.

There seem to be slightly different lengths that the brands advertise here on these, but they all say about 4m length through the hatch in the partition on longest one.

So the best thing to do if you were considering one would probably be to measure the cargo space.

A couple of things I forgot, Dad's used a little coolant, not much but a little, this seems to have been solved with a new coolant cap, which was recommended by the nearest Peugeot dealer, the new cap from Meyle was different from the old one. And they have unusually good payloads, they vary by year and model, but Dad's has over 1400kg.

@Popsicle I’ve got a 2017 (new shape) Citroen Dispatch 1.6hdi here. Only 1 owner and 81k from new but I’ve had to completely rebuild the engine as it was worn out. Started off as timing belt failure (didn’t make the interval before snapping) but when stripped it was completely fucking fucked.

It’s a decent steer, amazing on fuel but feels like it’s made from tissue paper and hopes and dreams especially compared to anything VAG. Also this one has the factory bulkhead in and I have nowhere near enough leg room at 6’1” to the point where I can’t believe they would develop and sell it like that.

Believe the 2.0 is the stronger lump but falls into dmf issues etc but I’d definitely have a decent sit/drive in one before getting too excited.

Everyone both me and my dad have talked to here recommends a maximum of 5 years and 100,000km no matter how much longer the manufacturer says on timing belts. The same with engine oil changes, I think these have 40,000km interval here, both the local garage and Peugeot dealer have recommended a maximum of 20,000km if you want the engine to last.

But there is a strange thing that has happened with yours, the 1.6 diesel engine is usually good, as I have said here before I recommended my mom in 2011 to buy a new Berlingo with this engine and she still has it and the engine has been very reliable and has only had an egr as the biggest problem.

I’ve heard a few stories of people with these 1.6 engines not making it to the timing belt interval so the advice you’ve had is absolutely spot on, and as always oil is cheaper than engines so servicing more often is never a bad idea.

Agree that the 1.6hdi is usually not a bad engine, I’ve had a couple through my hands but always as euro 4 or 5. This being euro 6 is on 0w30 and 25k mile service intervals so I believe it’s that coupled with the usual DPF oil dilution that’s done the damage.
