Used the Laguna to pull a small trailer for the first time since fitting a tow bar a month or so ago. It’s going to get a good work out towing stuff soon as we’ve got to do a house clearance. Lots of tip runs!

Are you saying 337k miles is high mileage or summat?

Not as high as 360k.

It's a 2.1D so at a guess I would say "slow".

They are slow as fk by modern standards , it definitely ain't the same class as a sprinter , but it will keep on going , never had any mechanical issues with my old one ....apart from the heater stopped working on an overnight to Hanover in December, iced on the inside !!

So what's the score here then? Is this a super bASe model or do they have another way of clearing the rear screen like some sort of fancy aerodynamics that means the screen doesn't get dirty in the first place?

The Hyundai badge even looks like a blanking plug for a would be wiper but I can't believe even the basest Dacia does without a rear wiper these days. A neighbour once had a bASe K10 Micra without one but we're talking 1992, that was so basic it didn't even have an interior light switch on the passenger door.

Oh,  thanks. I guess if I was sat in another overbearing behemoth SUV I might have seen it but sat in my lowered Favorit it is completely invisible.

That H still looks like a blanking plug or a big button for opening the boot perhaps as looking at it I can't see another button for opening it. I know, it probably opens automatically. I should probably stop wondering how modern cars work.

Drive back from Durham via the A19 and did @Fabergé Greggsa favour by getting stuck in (a) trafic for a poke about.

This morning I took my old T2 over to my favourite carburettor man for him to have a fiddle. It was running very, very rich and now it's not running quite so rich.

Cars have have release buttons along where the number plate bulbs are for several decades now.

If I ever have another one of those it'll be a 2.5D.  Just as mechanically robust but closer to being able to keep up with modern traffic.  I even managed a couple of overtakes in my old one.

Finally got to fix the dent in the Merc, now one week until it goes to the paint shop

(And I'll fix the badge placement that has been pissing me off ever since I bought it)

My colleague is staying in a fashionable AirBnB atm and has found a stash of porn*

Sadly, the stylus is shagged on the turntable - otherwise he’d be cueing it up and FaceTiming me.

If @mat_the_cathasn’t got this - along with the Ford Sierra Dealership VHS - for guests, I’ll be very disappoint.

Same colour and engine as my folks second one.  Was a decent little car, just a bit heavy on fuel.  Went well though and handled better than it looked like it should.  We liked it and would happily have had another one - only reason we switched to Peugeot was because the local Ford dealer stopped doing Motability.

Things I particularly remember include a really nice gearchange and that the engine seeming to thrive on revs - which is probably half the reason the economy never seemed great when I drove it!  Definitely quieter inside than the Pug that replaced it.

Always felt these were somewhat underrated cars really...It's basically a Fiesta they designed to have more room inside...and the Fiesta of this generation was pretty well liked.

Missus wanted to see if she could resurrect her old focus.. upon inspection its not worth it due to rot, needing at least 1 door, 2 tyres and a bloody good service and clean... reclamet is being contacted I believe.

They all meld together, shirley?

Actually, a guy who works for me has one and it's been cheap, reliable transport. I suspect boring, though.

Wheels returned for the CRX tonight, and the V5 is being done in the morning when the DVLA website reopens (sigh).

Tuesday at 7am I set off from rural Stirlingshire en route to Surrey and immediately had wipers, indicators, horn and hazards fail. Not ideal especially in Scotland. Fuses all fine so I diagnosed SAM module failure - always most likely suspect for multiple gremlins in Mercs of this era . RAC agreed and got me towed as far as Abington Services where I had a fun almost 8 hour wait before RAC and the very nice folk at G-Sport Hawick kindly organised a mighty Dacia for me to continue the journey. Merc delivered yesterday morning  with the delivery dude trailering off the Dacia all the way back to the borders. I've already pIcked up & fitted a new used £20 ebay SAM module and normal car functions instantly restored, no dealer coding bollox necessary with this old barge. MOT on Friday a good excuse for a few days rustproofing/bodywork, new rear tyres, & general TLC.

Fitters changes the shackle yesterday afternoon and the load ejected.

Same driver broke it again today. This time a front parabolic spring 😤.

Might have do redo his driving assessment

I've never heard it called that before - is it a Sussex thing?  Glad he was able to eject his load though.
