Bet that's a fetish.

It's how BL would have planned future styling updates. They would have called it computer aided design...

I mean compare the R8 Rover 2/400 with the next gen Rover 400 and the 100 series metro with the next gen 200 that replaced it.

I rest my case.

Nope as I've not plugged my landline phone in for 10 years now and I have truecaller on my mobile, the odd one still gets through though but they soon get told to fuck off.

They seem to come in waves here.

Fortunately we're in a trough at the moment.

Sadly I'll never know since I can't remember ever having used it. Apparently I'd managed to bend it round so that it had filled with water.

Spent most of the last week painting the inside of the house. 120 sqm of "innen wand farbe" which is some weird matt white paint stuff that's the standard issue wall painting gear out here in Germany.

Two rooms and the hall ceiling left to do. It feels like it has been going on forever. One of the rooms is large, so that'll take a while, the other has previously been painted completely in probably the most miserable grey-blue colour I've ever seen. I imagine that'll take about 30 litres of stuff just to sort it.

Still, the house is beginning to feel like a home now. It's hilarious trying to hang pictures or get furniture to sit square as the house is 400+ years old and half-timbered so everything is on the wonk.

Lockdown means no visiting friends or whatever over Christmas, so I suspect I'll be spending Christmas doing yet more painting.

It's been an interesting few weeks, but it's beginning to harvest results.

One of the walls in the hall appears to have been artexed. Bastards.

Is it your own or rented? Normally with rented properties they are fairly strict. My brother said that the landlords, who are often large companies, insisted on you  removing all the wallpaper before you left.

Rented, but the landlord is a top bloke.

This Christmas Eve, I hope you're all ready for Santa to come down the chimney.

I also hope you haven't upset the Krampus too much this year.

There's a ages old banger and caravan racing track at Harpur Hill, near the Mines Research place who developed computer modelling investigating the King's Cross fire. That's all within the confines of Buxton.

As is the International G&S festival.

The health and safety executive have labs thier too.  I once went to a 2 day machinery risk assessment course there.

They showed us a safety shoe slip test machine that they use to assess the grip properties of soles vs different slippy surfaces. I was impressed.

I think the HSE is the proper name for what locals call Mines Research!

I used to fly model aircraft up there when I was young.

The history of the location is fascinating. It was a munitions storage facility in the second world war, then a mushroom farm, then a cutting edge industrial underground safely lab. I think there are other random industries too, including the banger race course.

They also used to do junior kickstart up there.

Some one I knew rented an apartment in Berlin.  Didn't come with curtain rails of blinds. You have to fit yourself and remove and make good before you leave.

But she wasn't allowed to drill holes after 6pm and no DIY on The weekend, without a permit.  So she had to employ someone to fit blinds, during the day when she was at work.

Just took the 2CV out for a Christmas Eve run seeing as the usual Christmas Day run won’t be happening as that’s the only day to actually see anyone.

I have concluded that the headlights on the 2CV are far better than those on my 9000.   So I should probably do something about those...

Was originally the Safety in Mines Research Establishment (SMRE). Main offices in Sheffield, the fire / explosion bits at Harper Hill above Buxton. Spent 6 months as a placement student there in the mid 70's.

Finally managed to find a nice dry safe secure garage to park the 75 in.   Best bit is its FREE!  Belongs to a family member who has been telling me for over a year "That big Rover wont go in" but all yours if you want it.   Popped over today with a trusty tape measure and there is plenty of room, well about 6 inches to spare.

Had to run an errand up to Leicestershire today, so took the old £250 Ronda.

Great car, never missed a beat despite having to negotiate many badly flooded roads that would have caused moderns with their daft snow scoop air intakes to expire dramatically.

The A14 and A1 were both closed in places, due to flooding presumably, so I had fun getting to my destination. The sat nav took me through central Leicester, which was no fun at all. Traffic was bad and I didn’t know the area.

I did see an R reg, dark blue Almera saloon in Leicester, looked very original on local “JF” plates, sadly I was driving so no picture.

Wanting to avoid the major roads on the way back to Norfolk I ended up making a detour over to Boston to drive past the house my parents have agreed to buy with some of the proceeds of the sale of my late grandparents bungalow in Southend. 3.5 acres of land including various barns etc. Can’t wait to move my shite in, sadly due to Covid etc I am unable to view it currently.

Yeah A14 got flooded badly last night. I managed to get through the Kettering to M1 bit yesterday evening and it was already turning into a stream. The rain was intense - proper nailing it down, aka pissing stair rods

On my way home from work today I passed a Rialto, with steel hubcaps from an older car, and a set of 1970s reflective numberplates.
I put the plate into the DVLA checker thing and it came back as a Reliant Rebel.
Ooer, someone's dodging MOTs.

Civic is currently dirty as all hell as I got stuck behind a fucking gritter on the M60,  it was going 55mph in the middle lane and blinding everyone with the salty shite. No fucker would pass it either.
2:30pm. Makes no sense at all, as most of the salt ended up on people's cars...

After I passed it it moved in to the inside lane, and rightly bloody so.

No, that's the only snag, its in Kent.  But have family on the manor who will pass by and keep one eye on the garage but it seems a nice enough area.   There was nothing local at all.

2CV? Completed it, mate. (I had to drive around residential streets for a couple of miles to snap this as I knew I wouldn't make it to the next town before it rolled over*).

2CV headlights are certainly better than XM ones which were terrible on dip, despite having been computer designed and made a feature of when they were launched.
